What is ONDC ?
A government-backed initiative to create an open and
transparent e-commerce platform in India. It is designed to
promote competition and innovation in the e-commerce sector,
and to make it easier for small businesses to participate in online
commerce.
WORKING
ONDC works by creating a common set of standards for e-
commerce transactions. This will allow buyers and sellers to
connect with each other on any platform that is ONDC-compliant.
This will create a more level playing field for businesses of all
sizes, and it will give consumers more choices.
OBJECTIVES
Increasing the Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of digital
transactions.
Expanding the coverage of retailers using digital
commerce.
Expanding the share of Indians using eCommerce.
Amplifying the geographic coverage of eCommerce to
cover 75% of the total PIN Codes.
DEMYSTIFYING
ONDC
It is an open network not an application or a platform.
It eliminates need for central intermediary but is not a
central intermediary
It enables Ecommerce expansion but is not A medium to help
digitise businesses.
