What is ONDC?

 ONDC stands for open network for digital


commerce.
 It is a network which enables local commerce across
segments over digital or electronic commerce.
 Segments includes mobility grocery food order and
delivery, hotel booking and travel.
ONDC will help micro small and medium enterprise and small
traders to get online platforms.
How will ONDC change the landscape of Digital
Commerce?
ONDC will potentially curb the dominance
of e-commerce marketplace giants.

It will give sellers better access to


information on geographic demand.

They will have higher visibility across


platforms for prospective buyers across
the country.

Dynamic pricing, inventory management


and optimism help reduce the cost of
doing business for everybody.
What is the blueprint for launch and adoption of
ONDC?
Aim to end the duoploy of e-commerce
giants like Flipkart and Amazon in India.

ONDC is the next disruption that digital


commerce will see after UPI.

It will boosts small online retailers by


ushering in inclusivity, discoverability
and synergy.

Platform would allow sellers to reach a


larger audience online.
What is the blueprint for launch and adoption of
ONDC?

The commerce and industry ministry launch the


pilot phase of open network for digital commerce.

It has launched in five cities — Delhi NCR,


Bengaluru, Bhopal, Shillong and Coimbatore
on April 29 2022.
