I have learned that the 40% in the licensure examination for secondary teachers is

the Professional Education alone, and when we broke down that 60% it may compose to
four (4) components namely Curriculum Development with 35%, Assessment with 25%,
Teaching Profession and Facilitating Learning with both 20%. As what Dr. Balita tackled,
understanding these four components of Professional Education will definitely help me ace
that 40% in the Licensure Examination. Professional Education is very important because it
will measure if the taught central concepts, principles, and techniques were understood and
if the teacher aspirants know how to apply it in real practice equipped with the necessary
competencies he/she may have acquired throughout his/her education. Curriculum
Development has the biggest part of the 40% that would talk about the classroom
management which means the activities, methods, materials and resources that would be
utilized as governed by a curriculum.
I have discovered that Curriculum Development and Facilitating Learning
complements with each other. As I have watched the video it was stated that Curriculum
Development is the art of teaching while Facilitating Learning is the Science of teaching. It is
good to know the difference of the two since as an aspirant teacher I need to understand
well these concepts to be able to fulfill my role as an educator. Facilitating learning is
considered as the Science of Teaching which contains the theories that drawn from the
body of researches on how students will learn. Scholars from the couple of years have
concentrated their lives in studying development and learning theories that are honored
and relied up to the present. Grounded by these theories make the teaching and learning
process manageable, authentic, and effective through the long run. Moreover, educators
are not just guides to sources of knowledge but they serves as facilitators for the student’s
acquisition of that certain knowledge and putting the learning into practice as the learners
reflect and analyze their personal development.
I have realized that in order to make a spot on the topnotches in the licensure
examination, you need to fully understand the underlying art and science in teaching as well
as the application of it to the real life setting sheltered by the existing laws in the community
designed for the common good. Teaching profession is just so flexible that it almost touch or
connect every aspect in the society particularly to development. Teachers are seen as an
agent of change and a bearer of hope towards young people whom we also wanted to be a
beneficial citizen in our nation. Shaping their life’s career and honing their God-given
abilities which they will use for the rest of their lives is the ultimate aim of the profession.
Acing the licensure exam is one of my priorities and the top on my prayers as of the
moment. I believe it will be a great achievement and will somehow determine my hard work
and perseverance throughout my education, but I also have to ensure a mental and
emotional stability for it will keep me motivated and stay on focus for the rest of the
preparation.
