Conference Overview

International Consortium for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Research (ICIER) and BNM Institute of Technology,
Bengaluru, are jointly organizing the 6th ICIER International Conference during 14-15 December 2023 in
association with the international partners of ICIER and BNMIT. It is an interdisciplinary conference intending to
draw scholars and professionals representing a diverse perspective on strategic agility and resilience. The
conference provides a forum for showcasing the importance of agile strategies in the dynamic business, social
and economic environment. It proposes to host academic sessions (paper presentations), panel discussions and
practitioner-oriented discussions on Strategic Agility.
Considering the changing trends and preferences in conference participation, the conference will be hosted in a
hybrid mode at BNMIT campus via suitable virtual platforms, which will be communicated accordingly.

Conference Theme: Strategic Agility and Resilience: Benchmarks and Best Practices

Businesses across industry sectors and markets develop strategies in a VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, and
ambiguous) world. Rigid strategies cannot support dynamic businesses; what we need to deal with this dynamic
situation is agility. The Strategic Agility Model is based on the premise that you know that you don’t know the
future, and therefore that your strategy is your current best guess. Agility helps navigate the uncertainty, but it
takes Resilience to make changes and bounce back in action, looking forward. Not every business recognizes this
need. It took Covid-19 for many businesses to adapt, be agile, resilient, and open-minded in formulating
strategies.
There are a host of research and deliberation opportunities for academicians, researchers, entrepreneurs and
industry practitioners to leverage on the new awakening in the industry for strategic agility and resilience. This
conference is offering a platform for them to explore the new developments and deliberate on practical solutions
with respect to strategic agility and resilience as well as contribute to the creation of new knowledge for the
future.

Call for Papers
There are three streams of papers acceptable for this conference, namely:

Stream 1: Academic Papers

Academic papers may be either conceptual or empirical. Conceptual papers should develop strong arguments and
new theoretical perspectives on issues related to entrepreneurship and its facilitation, using evidence from prior
research. In other words, conceptual papers should present a comprehensive and focused review of the relevant
literature to develop and support new theoretical perspectives.
Empirical papers, on the other hand, should have a short and focused literature review to justify the need for the
study and develop the hypotheses, explain the methodology, present the data and their analysis, draw
appropriate conclusions, and discuss the theoretical and practical implications of the findings. The references
should be given in the style prescribed by the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th
edition), which requires the (author, year) format within the text, and the alphabetical listing (by authors’
surnames) of the references at the end. The length of the paper should be between 5000 and 8000 words. Papers
should be preceded by an ‘Abstract’ of not more than 500 words.

Stream 2: Reflective Practices

These are papers by practitioners (entrepreneurs, executives, consultants, policymakers) based on systematic
reflections on their own practice. Such reflection should have a ‘narrative section’ which briefly describes the
practice in question, explaining its context, purpose, and scope, and an ‘exposition section’ which elaborates on
the problems encountered by various stake-holders at the implementation stage. The concluding part should
contain recommended solutions, especially the desired micro and macro level policy initiatives. The size of the
paper should be about 5000 words. The paper should be preceded by an ‘Abstract’ of not more than 500 words.

Stream 3: Case Studies

Cases should highlight the unique practices followed in entrepreneurial ventures, promotional agencies, banking
and financial institutions, R&D centers, Government organizations, NGOs, Corporate organizations, etc, which are
directly or indirectly involved with the facilitation of strategic agility and resilience. The style of writing the case
should be narrative with appropriate numbers of tables, figures and annexures. The length of the case should be
approximately 3000- 5000 words. It should however, be clarified that this limit is only recommendatory in nature,
not mandatory. The case-study should also be preceded by an ‘Abstract’ of not more than 500 words.

or the special issues of the journals. The conference has the first right of publication on the papers presented.

to ensure uniformity across papers in the Proceedings. All full papers will be double-blind refereed by the peer
