1. Explain how one ruler from either medieval Europe or the Islamic world

established and maintained their power in the period up to 1000.

2. “Eleanor of Aquitaine (1137–1204) was one of the most influential

individuals of twelfth century Europe.” To what extent do you agree with this

statement?

3. “Medieval European and Islamic rulers faced a number of challenges to their

power and control of their domains.” With reference to either one medieval
