Group Project Instruction

Group Project (20%) – Case Study

(1) Form a group consisting of 5 members (maximum) from a similar section.

(2) Identify any previous or current problems/situations/issues around us which can be
analyzed/solved using statistical methods/approaches. (WP1)
(3) By applying the statistical approaches/methods from at least 2 chapters as covered in
this course module, students should have:
I. Identify the problem, (WP1)
II. Analyse the problem and/or
III. Propose solution(s) to the problem. (WP4)
(4) The case study data can be referred from any secondary sources.
(5) Prepare a comprehensive report using the “Research Progress in Mechanical and
Manufacturing Engineering (RPMME)” paper format and only 10 maximum pages are
allowed (excluding Appendices).
(6) The proposed contents of the report are as follows: (WP2)
(a) Abstract / Summary of the project
(b) Introduction (e.g. Statement of problems, Objective of project, scope)
(c) Methodology – the type of analysis will be used
(d) Results and discussions of the analysis
(e) Conclusion
(f) References
(g) Appendices
(7) Students must attach the minutes meeting in the Appendices section with all the
members' signatures.

(8) Assessment
The report assessment will be based on:
i. PLO 12-Life Long Learning (10%)

ii. PLO 2- Problem Analysis (10%)

➢ Originality in analysis

(9) Disclaimer of the report. Students need to declare that the report provided is original
work.
