Abstract—The characteristic of electricity generation on the island in Indonesia is the use of Diesel Power Plants (PLTD), such as
Karimunjawa Island. Karimunjawa Island does not interconnect with the PLN electricity network, as a supplier of electricity obtained from
PLTD. The disadvantage of the PLTD is the significant operational cost of generation (BPP), which reaches Rp. 6500/kWh in 2018. High
freight costs and uncertain fuel availability make production costs very high for isolated areas. This paper, proposing a solution to reduce
BPP costs through energy diversification, which is a combination of PLTS and PLTD. The proposed method is the LCOE and BPP analysis
to obtain the value of optimization economically, then through simulation, the composition of the right scenario for the Karimunjawa
electricity system and the analysis of the system performance of the selected scenario are determined. The results of the analysis, it was
found that the Cost of Generating (BPP) can be reduced through PLTS penetration.
