PROVIDING SHELTER TO DISPLACED PEOPLE
FROM UKRAINE
On February 24, 2022, due to the Rus-
sian-Ukrainian conflict, thousands of displaced
people from different regions of
Ukraine—Mariupol, Zaporizhia, Kharkiv,
Donetsk, Slavutych, and Odesa—se�led in
Armenia.

The families who moved to RA had many prob-


lems with health, psychology, food, and shel-
ter. Based on this reality, the Syunik-Develop-
ment NGO quickly responded to the situa�on
by crea�ng condi�ons for livelihood, various
social supports, and integra�on to society for
the displaced people from Ukraine who
moved to the Vayots Dzor Region.
The Ukrainian 41 families who moved to the
Vayots Dzor Region were provided with hous-
ing, food, clothes, medicine, and hygiene
items by the Syunik-Development NGO. The
NGO was provided with financial support by
its long-�me partner the organiza�on German
Bread for the World, to provide support to
displaced people.

As support, the Syunik-Development NGO also


regularly organized excursions for the
displaced people to the sights and museums
of the Vayots Dzor Region.
Preschool children, who moved from Ukraine
were involved in child development centers
and kindergartens in the Vayots Dzor region.
The NGO paid for their educa�on.

INTEGRATION PROGRAMS FOR THE DISPLACED
FROM UKRAINE TO ARMENIA
In the agenda of the Syunik-Development
NGO, the integra�on of displaced people into
Armenian society was of great importance.
For this reason, in 2022, on Fridays, Saturdays,
and Sundays, the Syunik-Development NGO
organized three-day integra�on gatherings
with the par�cipa�on of displaced Ukrainians
with Armenians. More than 200 displaced
people, who live in different places of Arme-
nia, with the youth of the Vayots Dzor Region,

had an opportunity to par�cipate in the six


integra�on programs organized by the
Syunik-Development NGO. During those pro-
grams, the par�cipants got acquainted with
several interac�ve courses on effec�ve com-
munica�on in intercultural (emo�onal) rela-
�onships, camp discussions, excursions, hikes,
and cultural events.
During the integra�on programs, the NGO
organized good-natured sports compe��ons,
musical events, events for preparing tradi�onal
dishes and handmade items, and an evening
bonfire.

THE THREE-DAY INTEGRATION FOR DISPLACED
MOTHERS AND THEIR CHILDREN
Among the displaced people from Ukraine,
single women who moved to Armenia with
their children also had special needs.
The Syunik-Development NGO didn't shy away
from providing support to young Ukrainian
mothers and their children.

The NGO organized another integra�on pro-


gram, this �me recrui�ng displaced mothers
and their children who were affected by the
conflict. Children aged up to 14 took part in
the program with their mothers. The children
had an opportunity to use various games, a
free swimming pool, bicycles, and the mothers
par�cipated in interac�ve courses, discus-
sions, several inspiring psychological games,
and hikes.

PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT FOR DISPLACED
PEOPLE
The Syunik-Development NGO paid excep-
�onal a�en�on to psychological support for
the displaced people, invi�ng specialists for
them to meet with.
Psychologists conducted courses and orga-
nized various psychological events to alleviate
their difficult psychological situa�ons.

All the costs of the support, including the


transporta�on of the par�cipants from Yere-
van to Vayots Dzor, all food and accommoda-
�on costs, and the purchase of necessary
items were fully covered by the Syunik-Devel- At this moment, due to the support of the
