Nothing ever becomes real till it is experienced. A well educated

mind will always have more questions than answers. The most
beautiful things in the creation of the child are his mistakes. The
more a child's work is full of these individual mistakes the more
wonderful it is. And the more a teacher removes them from the
child's work the duller, more desolate and impersonal it becomes,
for the whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows.

THE PRINCIPAL SPEAKS

Dear Parents,
I t is with great pleasure that I welcome you to

another exciting year at DPS Ranchi. With great
resolve and vigour we usher into the Academic Year
2021-2022. " Good work, like good talk or any other
form of worthwhile human relationship depends
upon being able to assume an extended shared
world." As a progressive institution, we work keenly to play a pivotal and
proactive role in the holistic development of children. The incessant effort
and strong desire to excel has set the benchmark for the institution and its
students. The immense contribution of our Management and supportive
parents due to the trust they repose in us, gives us an edge as we march
ahead towards fulfilling our mission.
There are only two lasting bequests we give our children. One of these
is roots; the other, wings. At DPS Ranchi, each day that unfolds, is a
wonder and miracle! Engaged in multi - skilled activities the young
minds experience social, emotional, intellectual, physical and ethical
development. Despite of the circumstances, we relive and rediscover the
magic of learning each day and are aligned with the thoughts of Buddha:
'Each morning, we are born, what matters the most is whether we have given
our best today." COVID-19 with its sudden upheavals changed our lifestyles
and accelerated existential issues but we worked to build foundations of
resilience to face challenges.
We are empowered by the unwavering faith that parents have in our
institution and in this knowledge lies our strength and inspiration. For decades
together our distinction lies in pursuit of high academic attainment through
support, encouragement and motivation. Education is a collaborative effort
that involves professional administrators, committed teachers, parents and
motivated students. This year our objective is to dedicate ourselves in creating
a dynamic educational programme empowering the students in a global
perspective. Let us journey through time in togetherness on the path firmly
laid by the pioneers to explore continuously, executing our responsibilities
efficiently and emerging with immeasurable success in our stride towards our
goal. "Learning is not attained by chance; it must be sought for with ardour
and attended to with diligence." For me optimism in dire situations and a
team consisting of individuals working independently towards one goal in
unison is the success mantra and I call all the stakeholders to put their best to
the fore in our resolve to outperform ourselves.

SETTING THE TREND IN BLENDED
LEARNING
With the world coming to a standstill due to the global Covid-19 pandemic, it
was but natural to get perturbed. However, DPS Ranchi took the challenge
head on and pioneered in looking towards the future - thus implementing
Online teaching-learning and assessment effectively in its curriculum.
Consequently the big question that we face today is “Whether schools will
ever be the same again?”
With the abrupt closure of school buildings the trend of Online classes
became the new “In thing" in the educational arena. This is where blended
learning comes in. Blended learning is defined and implemented as a hybrid
ACTIVITIES
of classroom and online learning without the complete loss of face-to-face

contact. Blended Learning programme is a flexible learning strategy because
it combines e-learning and conventional teaching methods. This innovative
teaching strategy enables the teacher and learner to interact effectively.
The learning activities like discussion, debate, videoconferencing and
brainstorming improve the reflection practices for students. Teachers
effectively use technology relevant to the content. Teachers analyse the need
and importance of the technology to a particular content and appropriately
integrate that to the classroom, enhancing students’ learning experience.
Therefore both ‘the conventional method of teaching’ and ‘technology
enhanced learning’ are combined effectively to eradicate the limitations
facing limitations of each style individually. Blended learning relies
profoundly on expertise with tools and technology where part of instruction
is taken online and the rest are conducted through face-to-face session.
Being time, pace and environment flexible blended learning is another
strategy well introduced for flexible education.
Blended learning helps the teachers in introducing the flexibility aspect in
education which can easily be achieved through personalized curriculum.
Flexible curriculum works better for different learning styles.
Some of the highlights of DPS RANCHI in this field are:
• Annual Project/Model Exhibition organized both online as well as
physically within the school premises.
• Various felicitation ceremonies organized in both modes.
• Art Integrated Projects undertaken by students.
• Art Integrated Learning incorporated in classes where in different
activities were performed by students.
• Numerous webinars for teachers as well as students; featuring talks
on inspirational, counselling, educational topics.
Thus DPS Ranchi continues its legacy of being the trendsetter in the
educational arena.

SCHOOL RULES
1. Every student should carry his/her almanac and identity card to school each
day.
2. Monday Test must be written only in test copies, else their answers
will not be evaluated and they will be awarded zero.
3. Students are not allowed to go outside the class without class pass.
4. Students who come to school on their own should arrive at the school
before the bell (five minutes before the home room period begins).
5. Changing of class rooms between periods should be done in silence and

in an orderly manner.
6. Students should be habitually clean and always neatly dressed. The school
uniform should be worn on all working days and for all school functions.
7. Non Sikh boys should get their proper hair cut at regular intervals. Girls with
long hair should come in two plaits. Colouring of hair, Mehandi on hands
and nailpolish is strictly prohibited for all the students.
8. Students should strictly follow the guidelines given below regarding their
hair cut/style, uniform, tie, socks, shoes and belt.
9. No shouting or whistling is allowed in or around the school building. Running

in the corridors is strictly prohibited.
10. Care must be taken of all school properties and no student should scratch
or spoil the desks or chairs or damage any school furniture or write or
draw on any belonging of others. Damage done even by accident should
be reported at once to the class teacher or to the representative.
11. The students are expected to report to the school authorities about any kind
of damage to the school property by a particular child or a group. Those
found guilty will be fined for the same.
12. No books (other than text books or library books), magazines or irrelevant
paper should be brought to school.

13. Lending or borrowing of money and other articles is not permitted.
14. It is not advisable to bring valuable articles to school. School will not be
responsible for any articles lost. Students are advised not to wear gold
ornaments to school.
15. Students not availing bus facilities should wait for their parents/guardians in
the school premises when the school gets over. In case of delay, they should
report to the school office. Those who go home alone, should not loiter about
on their way but be prompt in returning straight to their home.
16. Students are supposed to board their buses from their respective bus stops.
17. Students should observe polite manners, wherever they go. They should
always remember that the school is judged by their conduct. They should
always greet the teachers when they meet them. Bullying and use of foul
language are punishable offences.
18. The school reserves the right to dismiss a student whose diligence or progress in
studies is steadily unsatisfactory or whose conduct is harmful to other students.
Misbehaviour or misconduct with any of the teaching or non-teaching staff shall
call for strict action against the students.
19. Parents and guardians should not visit their wards or teachers in the class
rooms without the permission of the Principal.
20. Unless an emergency arises students are not expected to seek permission
to leave the school before the school gets over.
21. Students are not supposed to miss any teaching / games / activity period.
22. Bursting crackers or splashing colour during Diwali / Holi in the school
premises is strictly forbidden. Non compliance with these instructions can
result in expulsion from the school.
23. Name, class and section of the pupil should be clearly marked on all
belongings including blazer and jersey of the students.
24. School appointees should wear their respective badges everyday.
25. 75% and more attendance is compulsory for the students of XI and XII, 85%
and more for the students of Prep to X.
26. No student is permitted to bring MOBILE PHONE / CAMERA to school.
27. POLYTHENE Bags are banned inside the campus.
28. Canteen facility is only for the students of XI and XII during the break time.
29. Do's and Don's during Pandemic :
During pandemic situation every child should use mask, bring sanitizer
and maintain social distance. Students should bring their own lunch box.
During lunch break should avoid crowd and must not share their lunch box
with their friends.
NEW SYSTEM OF ERP (MOBILE APP)

Delhi Public School, Ranchi has made many strides to keep up with the growing
challenges of the modern world, especially in the field of education.
Communication builds up relationships, therefore school is trying to get effective
communication medium to bridge the communication gap between parents and
teachers and therefore has implemented ERP system to reach this goal. This
software works through on app 'e-care pro'.

RECOMMENDATIONS TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS
1. Parents are advised to monitor the use of internet especially the social networking
sites if at all used by their ward(s).
2. Parents must ensure that the mobile number given for SMS alerts is functional in order
to facilitate communication.
3. Parents are urged not to change the phone /mobile number in a session. If at all there
is a change in the address or phone/ mobile number, the information should reach the
school immediately.
4. Parents must check the school website regularly in order to remain updated with the
school activities.
5. Leave for half day should be avoided as far as possible for security reasons. In an
emergency, written permission must be taken from the Class Representative and
Class Teacher.
6. Check the haircut, uniform and punctuality of your ward in the morning.
7. Mobile Phones/Electronics Gadgets are strictly prohibited in the campus.
8. Ensure that your ward does not wear any gold ornament in school. The school is not
responsible for any loss for the same.
9. See that your ward carries books/note books according to the Time Table for the day.
10. Check his/her Almanac regularly for the teacher's remarks.
11. See that he/she carries answer books for the Formative Assessment held on every
Monday, also check his/her class work and test copies to see the teacher's remarks.
12. Parents must check their wards' Monday Test marks and put their signature.
13. Visit the school on the specified day every month to remain in touch with the teachers
to find out your ward's performance in the class.
14. Parents having wards in XI/XII are advised to visit their respective class teachers
periodically to keep track of their attendance/performance.
Attending PTM by the parents is compulsory or else necessary action will be taken
by the School authority.
15. Make your child converse in English even at home, which is very important for the
improvement of his conversational skills and also for the atmosphere of the school.
16. Encourage your ward to take a balanced interest in studies, co-curricular activities and sports.
17. See that your child does not bring crackers, colour etc. to the school. Bursting of crackers
and playing with colours are liable to lead to expulsion of a student from the school.

This app can be downloaded through ‘Google Play store’ or ‘Apple Play store’. Type
the name of the app ‘e-care Pro’; when it opens enter school code ‘DPSRNC’. Enter
user id and password (which is provided by the school to each student individually
through SMS) and then proceed further. Rs 100/- per month will be charged from
each student for this hi-tech facility.

All messages and circulars of school and the information related to child’s
attendance, syllabus, assignments, report card, activities etc will be available
on parents' smart phone once they download the app. Sudden closing of the
school will also be informed through this portal.

(3) Communication Portal which helps in bridging the gap between parents and
teachers and reduces response time to parent’s queries. This panel will be
accessible 24x7 and is easy and simple to use.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR FEE

1. Payment Options:
i. School fee can be paid by using 'e-care portal'. Parents can also access school
website for making payments through this portal.
ii. There is facility of 'POS' terminal through which parents can also pay the fees
at the school counter by using ATM card / Debit card.
iii. School fee can be paid through Cheque / Draft in favour of Delhi Public

2. Tuition fee & Bus fee are payable bi – monthly (once in 2 months) starting from
April and it is to be paid for 12 months.
3. All dues should be cleared before the commencement of each examination or
else child will not be allowed to sit for the examination.
4. Students appearing for Board Examination i.e. X & XII should clear their dues
positively by January. No cheque will be accepted after the "No Dues" date.
5. If a student wants to discontinue the bus service he/she must inform the school
office one month in advance and submit the bus pass in the office. No student
will be allowed to discontinue the (bus) service from October onwards.
6. Transfer Certificate will be issued on a written request from the parents or guardian
of the school. One month's notice or one
after the settlement of all dues
month's fees in lieu of notice period along with Rs. 500/- for T.C. must
be given in advance for the issue of Transfer Certificate.
7. Caution money is refundable in full only in the event of leaving the school
and after adjustment of all dues. It should be claimed within six months
from the date of issue of T.C. otherwise the claim for same will not be
entertained.
8. The rules related to payment of school fee must be taken into serious
consideration by the parents:
A. As the school has a system of fee payment bi-monthly, it is expected that the parents
respect the timing. Following are the details of fine in case of ‘delay in Fee Payment’:
i. In the first month* till the date 15th – No fine
(*in which the fee is to be paid)
ii. In first month from 16th to the end of the month – Rs 100/-
iii. In second month – Rs 200/-
iv. In third month – Rs 500/-
V. In case of non-payment of fee till the third month, the student will be considered
as fee defaulter and his name will be struck off the roll. Re-admission will be
given on payment of a penalty of Rs 1000/-.
B. Any cheque returned by the bank will be treated under the category of non-payment
of fee. Fine to be paid for 'Dishonored Cheque':
i. Rs 1000/- per cheque for 'Fund Insufficient'.
ii. Rs 500/- per cheque for ‘Technical reasons’ such as overwriting, difference in
figures or signatures etc.

SCHOOL TRANSPORT
Students can avail the school transport subject to the availability
of seats. The routes and stops of the school buses have been prepared
keeping in view the convenience and safety of all students.
The school will not entertain any request for changes of bus-stops
and bus-routes to suit an individual’s convenience.
SCHOOL TRANSPORT
Parents should consult the school transport in-charge for necessary

details regarding bus-stops and bus routes. Bus fee will be charged for
twelve months in an academic year. The charges per pupil per month is
given in the fee schedule available in the school office.
BUS RULES
1 Students using the school bus must be at their bus stop at least
five minutes prior to the arrival time of the bus. Buses will not wait
for the latecomers. It is mandatory for all students availing bus to
carry their bus ID card with them.
2. Students should stay away from the main road until the bus arrives
and should not rush towards the entry door of the bus till it has
come to a complete halt.
3. All students must occupy vacant seats immediately after boarding
their buses.
4. Drivers are authorized to stop buses only at the designated stops,
unless directed otherwise by the bus in-charge.
5. No student should move around or put any part of his/her body
out of the bus.
6. Food items or trash must not be discarded inside the bus or thrown
out of the bus. Students are not allowed to eat in the bus.
7. Students will be held responsible for any damage to buses caused
by negligence or vandalism. Courteous behaviour is expected
from students at all times and unruly behaviour is strictly
prohibited. Students who resort to vandalism will be debarred
from bus facility.
8. Bus teachers are responsible for maintaining discipline inside the
bus. Serious offences inside the bus should be reported to the
Principal immediately.
9. Parents are requested not to enter into an argument with the bus
driver and conductor. In case of necessity the bus teacher or school
authority can be contacted.

ADMISSION
Admission procedure takes place usually at the beginning of the session i.e. in
the month of April. A student, who has previously attended a recognized school,
must produce a school leaving certificate from the institution last attended at the
time of admission, failing which he cannot be admitted.
ABSENCE
1. Permission of class teacher is mandatory for a student to attend the class
if one had been absent the previous day.
2. No leave of absence is granted except on medical grounds.
3. Repeated absence without any prior information or valid reason for more
than six consecutive days renders the students off the rolls, re-admission
may be granted only on payment of fresh admission fee.
4. As per CBSE norms, it is compulsory for students to obtain 75% attendance
in the academic year to make them eligible to sit for their final examination.
The percentage however can be relaxed on medical grounds.
5. It is compulsory to be present on the last working day and the reopening
day of each vacation. Absence for more than three days immediately after
a mention renders the student’s name struck off the rolls.
6. No student is allowed to step out of the school gate without the gate pass
either signed by the class teacher or class representative. Student must
be accompanied by the parents while going out of the gate.
7. Students are responsible for making up all work missed by them.
8. Students remaining absent from school due to an infectious or contagious
disease should produce a medical certificate on returning to school
permitting him to do so. Prescribed period of quarantine must be observed
by students suffering from the following diseases before they return to the
class.
(a) Chicken pox : Till complete fall of the scabs
(b) Measles : 2 weeks after the rash disappears
(c) Mumps : Until the swelling has gone
(d) Cholera : Till the child is completely well
(e) Whooping Cough : Six weeks.
(f) Covid-19 : Till the child is completely well
PROMOTION
Promotion will be granted on securing minimum 40% and above in each
subject.
It encompasses the achievements in academic and development at social,
ethical and behavioural fronts.
WITHDRAWALS
1. In case a pupil has to be withdrawn from school, a calendar month's
notice in writing must be submitted or a month's fee in lieu of such notice
must be deposited to the school office.

2. Transfer certificates or withdrawals are not issued until all dues of the
school are settled.
3. Students can be asked to leave the school on disciplinary grounds.

I. Scholar badges will be awarded to the students of :-

The students who are declared scholars as per the above mentioned
criteria for:-
(a) 3 consecutive years will be awarded with a blue blazer.
(b) 4 consecutive years will be awarded with a blue tie.
(c) 5 consecutive years will be awarded with a blue badge.
(d) 6 consecutive years will be awarded with 2nd blue blazer.
(e) 7 consecutive years will be awarded with 2nd blue tie.
(f) 8 consecutive years will be awarded with 2nd blue badge.
II. In class X, the students securing 90% and above will be awarded with a
gold medal.
III. In class XI, section wise 1st, 2nd, and 3rd position holders will be awarded
with gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.
IV. In class XII, students securing 90% and above in AISSCE will be felicitated.
V. Special Badges to the National level winners:
Special Badges will be awarded to the deserving, consistent and dedicated
students for their outstanding performance in the fields of sports, dance,
art and music at the National level.
VI. To encourage and provide an opportunity to the students, a 3 - tier annual
improvement award scheme is followed.

Changes to the existing criterion for Academic Prizes for Session (2020-’21) due
to PANDEMIC (COVID-19).
Scholars of previous years (i.e., up-to session 2019-’20) who are appearing for

SCHOOL LIBRARY
"To buildup a library is to create a life. It's never just a random collection of Books"
Library occupies a very prominent place in the educational set-up. Library is the
treasure vault of ideas, the storehouse of knowledge and the flowing streams
of living thought.
The school has 3 full fledged libraries, which are store houses of a large number of
books on every subject for the use of students. It is open to all bonafide students
of the school. Each class is provided with at least one library period per week.
The following rules to be observed by the students :
• Students must carry a library card duly signed by the librarian. Books are
issued only against this card. Students of class III–XII are issued one card
each,and they can issue only one book at a time against their library cards.
• Students are allowed to borrow against their own cards only.
• Students must maintain absolute silence in the library.
• Library books, other than reference books, are issued for 7 15 days.

• Books, if disfigured, damaged or lost will have to be replaced or paid for by the
borrower or double fine will be charged as per the market price of the book.
• If the pages of the book are torn off (According to the condition of the book)

• The library has an open shelf system and students must help to maintain
order and organisation in the different shelves. They must put the books
on the tables after consultation and not just anywhere on the shelves.
• Students are not allowed to bring their personal books or belongings in the

• PENS and PENCILS are not allowed to be carried inside the library.

honourable former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, that 'One good book is equal
to hundred friends, but one good friend is equal to a whole library', This noble
idea has been implemented.
In this library prominent figures from different sectors visit the school and interact
with students & shed light for future presentation and teach them the art of balancing
their personal & professional life. The aim of introducing the library is to challenge
prejudices against social contact among people & bringing the people together.

Introducing one of the incredible efforts by DPS Ranchi in such uncertain times
made an enigmatic zeal on launching mobile library for the betterment of the

Work experience is viewed as purposive and meaningful manual work
organized as integral part of the learning process and resulting into goods or
services useful to the community, besides the pleasure of self fulfilment. It provides
the basis for building up proper attitude towards work, developing favourable
work values and habits and imparting necessary education which can help the
children to become productive and self-reliant in meeting their day-to-day needs.

HOUSE SYSTEM
There are Six Houses in the School: Chenab, Ganges, Jhelum, Jamuna,
Ravi and Sutlej. At the time of admission the student is allotted his / her house.
Each house is headed by one boy and one girl known as House Captains.
A member of the staff assisted by several other teachers (tutors) acts as the House
Warden. Points are awarded to students throughout the year for extracurricular
activities, games and sports. At the end of the year, the house gaining the highest
points is awarded the trophy.
Any student representing a house that he / she does not belong to, will
be disqualified.
Rules for Inter House Activities :
1. One student can participate in maximum two individual activities and two
group activities.
2. Number of participants in group activity should be more than eight and less
than ten and for G. D., Mock Parliament, Quizzes, Cryptic Crossword team
should comprise of three Members (One Student from Each class)

GUEST SPEAKER’S PROGRAMME

Classroom teaching in institutions add to information and knowledge of
students, but insight formation takes place through real life experiences and
interactions with personalities. Students are regularly exposed to knowledgeable
luminaries whose words motivate and inspire the young minds. Guest speakers

annually.
Overseas Universities Education Fair
The school conducts Overseas Universities Education Fair to meet, interact
and apply for admissions to Universities abroad for higher studies under one

SAT Test Centre
Admission to top-notch institutions in countries like UK, USA, Canada,
Germany, Japan, Italy etc. becomes a cakewalk. DPS Ranchi became the
first SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) centre in Jharkhand 2017. By becoming a

Legal literacy helps in the holistic development of an individual's personality. If

paves the way for instilling a sense of responsibility towards society and thus

Tamai Classes (Japanese Kiwami)
To develop children into world class talents a special learning technique of
Japan, know as ‘Tamai Shiki’ has been introduced to enhance the logical,
analytical and quantifying ability of the students. Courses like Ee Soreban,
Kiwami Geometry, Robotics and comman science are being conducted by the
trained faculties minutely administered by Japanese delegates.
Deeptabh (Lighting hope, lighting equality)
With the motto to have a society with equal opportunities for all, the school
has lightened a lamp of hope for the underprivileged children by introducing
