‘Veiled in flesh the Godhead see, Hail the incarnate Deity’
4
“You have come here to worship me as Shri Ganesha. We have been singing
the praise of Shri Ganesha before every puja. And we have such tremendous
respect for Shri Ganesh, because we have found out that unless and until Shri
Ganesha, who is the symbol of our innocence, is not awakened within us, we
cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. And even to stay there and to enjoy the
blessings of Shri Ganesha, we have to have our innocence fully blossoming. So
we praise Him and He is very easily praised. And whatever we might have done
wrong before coming to Sahaja Yoga, He completely forgives because He is the
eternal child.
You have seen children, when you slap them sometimes, get angry with them,
they forget it. They only remember the love and not what they have suffered
at your hands. ‘Till they grow up, they do not have memory of bad things done
to them. From the very beginning, a child is born to a mother, he doesn’t know
what he has gone through, but gradually the memory starts working and he
starts restoring things within himself. But in the beginning only he remembers
what nice things have happened to him. So we always like to ponder about our
childhood, what we enjoyed in our childhood. But as we start growing up we
start remembering all the miseries and all the tribulations we had to go
through. All the ordeals through which we have passed, we try to magnify it. In
childhood the children only remember the people who have loved them and
not the people who have hurt them. They don’t want to remember perhaps. It
looks like that. But when they grow up, they only try to remember those
people who have harmed them, or have troubled them and that’s how they
make themselves really miserable.
But the principle of Ganesha is extremely subtle, is the subtlest of subtle. And
it exists in everything, that it exists in the matter in the form of vibrations.
There is no matter which is without vibrations. It has vibrations which are seen
even in the atoms and also in the molecules of all matter that has existed. So
Shri Ganesha is the first one who was established in the matter, as well. As a
result we can see, He exists in the sun, He exists in the moon, He exists in the
whole universe, in the whole creation, and He continues to exist in human
beings also. Only the human beings have capacity to somehow or other cover
up your – the innocence. Otherwise, animals are innocent. Human beings have
the freedom; if they want, they can cover up their innocence, they can shut
down the doors of Shri Ganesha and say that He does not exist. They can cloud
it. And that is why we find among human beings that they are doing so many
horrible things, avoiding the existence of Shri Ganesh.
But He acts. He acts in a way that He shows natural reserves of our
wrongdoings. Like if you do things which are not pleasing to Shri Ganesh, He

5
goes up to a point, forgives you up to a point, and then He starts emerging out
as diseases, as physical diseases, and in women it becomes a mental disease.
Also it can create problems in the nature. The natural catastrophes are also
only the curse of Shri Ganesha. When people start doing wrong things,
behaving in a wrong manner, collectively, then the natural catastrophes come
to teach them a lesson.
So in His essence, though He exists in everything, also in that He has capacity
to assert His will to bring forth the destruction of the whole world. We have
Shri Ganesha’s idea as a minute thing. We think He can go on a little mouse so
He must be very minute. He is as minute as He is great. He surpasses all the
Deities because of His wisdom. He is the giver of wisdom. He gives us wisdom.
He makes us learn. He is our Guru, in that respect, Mahaguru, because He
teaches us how we should behave. If you try to surpass Him and try to
misbehave, even the Mother won’t support, because She knows that those
who surpass Shri Ganesha are also the people who will never respect the
Mother. So He is the epitome of respect for Mother. Epitome. He does not
know any other gods. He does not know Sadhashiva. He doesn’t know anybody
else, but He only respects the Mother. He is always seated at the feet of His
Mother, the Adi Shakti who created Him. So He is the one who is the power of
devotion and complete surrender to Mother, and that’s why He is the most
powerful Deity among all the Deities and nobody can surpass Him in His
power.
We have to understand that as children are growing, Shri Ganesha starts
growing in them also, but as they are human beings they can, somehow or
other, try to overpower Shri Ganesha. So it is the duty of parents who are
Sahaja Yogis to see that they look after their children in a way, in a detached
way, to see that Shri Ganesha in them is settled. The first sign of Shri Ganesha
in a child is wisdom. If the child is not wise, if he is troublesome, if he does not
know how to behave, then that shows that the Shri Ganesha is being attacked
by him. And these days in the modern times, as it is, children are very much
under attack. Innocence is under attack. And it is very difficult for people to
make a fine line as to how far to go with children and how far not to go.

Shree Mataji Nirmala Devi

Shri Ganesha Puja, Les Diablerets (Switzerland), 8 August 1989.

6
“Did you ever wonder why is Mother so Simple
inspite of travelling around the world.
Why did Adi Shakti always prefer a Saree?”

"Give up artificiality and be more natural." says Shri Mataji

And She continues:

"So you have to be a natural person; very natural in your behaviour . . .

WISDOM IS VERY IMPORTANT IN SAHAJA YOGA, that you have to keep
intact all the time. Natural means you must wear natural dresses, which are
suitable to you, e.g. in this climate there is no use to wear dress like Rama used
to wear. He will not wear anything on the top, there was no need. You have to
wear the dress of whatever country you belong; whatever suits the occasion.
Whatever you think is dignified and good. It speaks for your elegance and your
personality. .No clownish things are necessary, no dandy stuff is necessary.
Simple, beautiful dresses should be worn which give you dignity.”

“While attending My Pujas’ for various chakras, all male Sahajayogis should
wear Kurta Pyjamas or covered trousers and shirts. All females should wear a
Saree. Even if ladies prefer dresses, there should not be any kind of exposure.
Dupattas or Odnis should be worn in such a way that they completely cover the
breast portion and if possible the stomach region. Nowadays it is a fashion of

7
wearing the Dupattas round the neck exposing the areas that have to be kept
covered resulting in Mooladhara, Nabhi, Anahat and Vishuddhi catches in
females. Because of them the males who stare at their exposed areas with their
roving eyes get catches in their Mooladhara &Agnya resulting in unholy
thoughts and activities further affecting their Swadisthana Chakras.”

“Ladies should wear five bangles in their right wrist and seven bangles in their
left representing the Adi Shakti. By doing so all the males and females
representing their Left and Right Channels in their environment are protected
with complete purity. Vishuddhi becomes clear driving away all impure
thoughts and desires.”

“In these modern days, ladies prefer to wear Bindi or stickers between their eye-
brows which block their Hamsa Chakra, the discriminating power. This Chakra

8
is named after the Swan or Hamsa which can separate the water from a mixture
of milk and water. Swan is the vehicle of Goddess Saraswati who imparts pure
knowledge and wisdom. Blocking of Hamsa chakra results in Swadisthana
catches thus weakening the thinking and reasoning power resulting in impure
thoughts and desires. Ladies should wear Bindi on their Agnya Chakra. Or
doesn’t matter if you do not not wear a Bindi always than blocking the Hamsa
Chakra. Preferably a bindi should be of a good mixture of Lemon extracts and
turmeric. (Available in Benares and Kolkata). A Sandalwood paste or oil can
also be used. This protects the Ekadasha Rudra Powers in our forehead.
Ladies should take care to see that they do not expose their Naval while draping
a sari, because they may develop Nabhi Catches resulting in loss of money and
wealth and their growth and prosperity will be affected considerably. Ladies
and Gents should also not keep their forehead covered with so- called flicks.
Ekadasha Rudra Powers are to be kept active for your own protection. Ladies
should keep the habit of wearing flowers to protect their back agnya and
strengthen the Powers of Shri Maha Ganesha”.

“Even the men should take care to see that they control themselves from being
carried away by exposures through females. They should appreciate simplicity,
which is the essence of love and beauty. They should be like Lakshmana who
could easily recognize Shoorpanaki the demoness who tried to seduce him in
the guise of a beautiful damsel.”

Are the muscles capable of protecting the weaker sections in the community and
environment?

“Men may be good at body building but they should not expose their muscles or
cuts to attract females towards them. They should wear a towel or undershirt
covering their shoulders and chest. Simplicity attracts Love and Artificiality
attracts Lust. The joy of Love is long lasting and the worth of Lust is
momentary. Lust is finite and vanishes quickly while Love is infinite and
lifelong. People wish to keep in touch with you and remember you even when
you are far away for the vibrations you emit in your originality. Men should
have a brotherly and protective approach towards all the females which
strengthens the bond of pure friendship.”
“In the battlefield when Shri Krishna hurt his finger, Draupadi tore the corner
of her Sari to bandage his bleeding finger. Shri Krishna in return blessed
Draupadi with endless Sari although Shri Krishna was not physically present in
the court where Draupadi was humiliated. Only the pure holy feelings of
Draupadi for Shri Krishna protected her chastity.
When her five husbands and family members could not protect her, she just
closed her tear-filled eyes and remembered Shri Krishna. Her vibrations were
9
strong and pure that at a far off distance Shri Krishna could feel that his sister
was facing insecurity. There can be no bond stronger than this bond. You realize
this when you become Sahajayogis”.

“Husbands should be faithful to their wives and in return wives also should be
faithful to their husbands. They should learn to live to each others likes and
dislikes. They should sometimes sacrifice their artificiality to keep their
relationship cordial. They should respect each other just like Shri Rama
respected Shri Sita. For the sake of the people in the kingdom where Shri Rama
ruled, Shri Sita proved her chastity through Agni Pariksha to protect the self
respect of her husband. In the battlefield, Shri Rama, while killing the wicked
Ravana did not aim the arrow at Ravana’s heart because Shri Sita was residing
in his heart. Such was Shri Rama’s Love for Shri Sita. Even the physical
relationship between husband and wife should never be publicized. Sex should
be with full purity just the same purity as you have when you enter a temple.
The deities in your sexual organs should be respected. Sexual proximity should
be with a feeling for reproduction not vulgarity or committing of adultery.
Wives offer their virginity to their husbands and they should be together as
couple throughout their life. In case the males and females had a bad past where
they could not preserve their chastity and virginity, then they should not discuss
about it once they are married, because this may ruin their marital life. They
should accept and adjust each other. There should be no split or divorce in any
one’s married life. For some unavoidable reasons, or due to lack of
understanding and adjustment if there is a spilt then marrying for the second

10
time is not usually good from health and hygiene point of view. Health
problems may arise as age goes by. Marriage should happen only once in life
and the sanctity should be preserved.”
“In case of Divorce or spilt it is always better to stay single than going for a
second relationship. But both males and females should take care to see that
chastity is preserved. Such males and females should not go forward to seduce
the opposite sex in any way. They should not cultivate any bad friendship or get
addicted to bad habits. If there is any vulgarity they may damage their chakras.
Men should prevent becoming slaves of their roving eyes. By Meditating on
Kundalini, personal Mother and the primordial power within each one of us we
can get this energy awakened, to lead a complete chaste life”

“Due to the dirty habit of Roving eyes men gather the negativities and catches of that particular organ of the opposite
sex which causes complications, impure desires, lethargies and dangerous ways of life.”

“Eyes are the most precious gift of God which should be utilised in the best
possible way. They emit positive and energetic vibes if you have the habit of
gazing at the beautiful greenery of nature, the vast sky and oceans, and children
below the age of 3 years. Whenever you are moving out of your house, keep the
habit of looking only 3 feet above the ground.”

11
SANCTITY OF MARRIAGE

“In Sahajayoga all other females except your Mother and Wife are your Sisters,
Not Friends.”

“Same is applicable for the female sahajayogis. No Male-Female Friendship

after you become Sahajayogis. You have to meditate daily so that Mother
Kundalini helps you to rise above the Male-Female negative concept of mind.
Specially when you are idle and alone prevent yourself from indulging in sexual
thoughts and habits. Avoid watching vulgar movies. Impure sexual habits and
thoughts results in masturbation and other filthy activities which spoil your
Mooladhara Chakra. You may experience severe pain in either of your hips and
heels. The Semens which are discharged during this process makes you weak
and lethargic. At such times you come to Me. Lit a candle before My image.
Keep your left hand before Me, your right palm on the Mother Earth, open your
left palm and say “Shri Ganesh Mantra” four times. Then keep your Left palm
on Mother Earth and Right Palm before Me and say “ Shri Kartikeya Mantra”
When you pray to Shri Ganesha, ask Him to bless you with all his innocence
and purity because Shri Ganesha only recognizes His Mother who created Him
with Her Purity. When you pray to Shri Kartikeya ask Him to dissolve all your
impure desires, because Shri Kartikeya is the Commander of self respect.
Mother Kundalini is the Creator, Shri Ganesha the Charioteer and Shri
Kartikeya the Commander”. The sexual organs of men are blessed with the
generation of sperms and the women are blessed with the power to nourish the
new born through their breasts and navel. These should not be misused in any
way. The Divine has created His own image in Humans. This entire body along
with the divinity should be protected and respected in every way. It is true that
marriage makes one’s life complete. But if you are single, or divorced, or a
widow or widower, nothing to worry. Well and Good. Just preserve your
chastity. This is very very important, especially for the ascent of a Sahajayogi.”

12
Shri Mataji on alcohol and cigarettes:

Shri Mataji stressed alcohol as being the major hurdle in people getting Self
Realization and staying in Sahaja Yoga. It is more dangerous than cigarettes,
Shri Mataji explained, further adding that where cigarettes destroyed the
physical body, alcohol took its toll on one's awareness and thus diminishing the
possibility to evolve.
“When people come to the first meetings, they should be told from start to stop
drinking. Sahaja Yoga is not accessible to those who drink, and those who still
prefer to continue with alcohol should be asked to not attend and to leave the
meditation room. To continue with Sahaja Yoga one should be determined to
stop drinking so as to follow on their spiritual path. Drinking and smoking
damages our Vishuddhi.
The fifth chakra (Vishuddhi) is the chakra of diplomacy, of pure relationships
with others, and of playful detachment. It removes all our guilt and remorse
when it is opened by the Kundalini, and gives us a kind and compassionate
voice. The tendencies to dominate others or to feel dominated by others, the
feelings of superiority or inferiority and all jealousies are removed when this
chakra is nourished by the Kundalini.
The deity for this centre is Shri Krishna. He represents God in His aspect as
the Eternal Witness. With absolute detachment He watches the Play (Leela) of
the Cosmic drama. This is placed in the neck of the human being and it had
sixteen petals which look after ears, nose, throat, neck, tongue, teeth etc.
This centre is responsible for communication with others because through our
eyes, through our nose, through our speech, through our hands, we
communicate with others. On the physical level it caters for the cervical
plexus." The Throat Chakra is associated with the colour sky blue. This chakra
is our will center. The healthfulness of the fifth chakra is in relation to how
honestly one expresses himself/herself. Lying violates the body and spirit. We
speak our choices with our voices (throats). All choices we make in our lives
have consequences on an energetic level. Even choosing not to make a choice
such as in repressing our anger (not speaking out) may manifest into laryngitis.
We have all experienced that "lump in our throats" when we are at a crossroad
of not knowing how to speak the right words in any given situation, perhaps
even stuffing our own emotions. A challenge of the throat chakra is to express

13
ourselves in the most truthful manner. Also to receive and assimilate
information. Seek only the truth.”

“These days men want to adopt females styles and females want to look like
men. They grow hair like females, wear earrings and want to walk like females
to attract the females. Women want to look like men. Sometimes it is
impossible to recognize them as males or females. Both loose their originality
and beauty by trying funny habits.”
“Men should try and keep themselves away from females who expose their
bodies. Such females are never pure however innocent they may appear. Their
exposure is basically to trap the opposite sex. Men should not try to adopt the
feminine look. Females also should not try to imitate men. Sahajayogis should
never try to imitate any actors, actresses, or any other personalities. They should
be unique.”

“Try and imitate Me, your Mother who created you. You all have come
through Me, try to adopt My ways. Create the desire to appear like Me.
When you think about Me, you start appearing like Me and I will be there
within you instantly in My complete form and complete Powers. That’s
My Promise.”

14
Maintaining the Sanctity of Marriage :

“ After Marriage, ladies in Sahajayoga should never avoid the traditions which
make them wives or mothers. They should never avoid wearing their traditional
sarees, bindi, kajals, Mangalsutra, bangles, flowers etc as per their tradition.
This protects them from all negativities and maintains purity in their marital
relationship. Even wearing jeans to maintain the figures tightens the hips
affecting the Mooladhara and the Swadisthana Chakras. Respecting family
values and traditions makes our appearance serene.”

“ Females should never bath in the open. Shri Krishna used to hide the clothes
of the Gopis who tried to bath in the open, with the pretext of fetching water
from the lakes and ponds. He did this to make them realize their mistakes so
that their chastity could be protected from the Asuras.”

“Males in Sahajayoga should imbibe the qualities of Shri Laxmana who never
looked at Shri Sita directly. His attention was always on the feet of Shri Sita.
Both males and females should avoid lusty eye contact. They should see only 3
feet above the ground where they can see innocent children, green grass and
shrubs. Above 3 feet they should see the green trees, the vast sky and the
beautiful nature around them. This will keep the back agnya chakra clean. The
Maha Ganesha Tatva remains protected, further protecting the chastity. Every
Sahajayogi has to maintain the virtuousness and purity.”

“An Indian marriage is a symbol of purity, union of two different people,

community and culture with the 7 vows of marriage.
In the first round, the couple prays to God for plenty of nourishing and pure
food.
In the second round, the couple prays to God for a healthy and prosperous life.
In the third, the couple asks God for the strength for both of them so that they
can share the happiness and pain together.
In the fourth round the couple prays to God for the increase in love and respect
for each other and their respective families.
The bride and groom together pray for the beautiful, heroic and noble children
from God in the fifth step.

15
In the sixth holy round around the fire, the couple asks for the peaceful long life
with each other.
(In all the six rounds the wife follows the husband.)
In the final seventh round the couple prays to god for companionship,
togetherness, loyalty and understanding between themselves. They ask God to
make them friends and give the maturity to carry out the friendship for lifetime.
The husband says to his wife that now they have become friends after the Seven
Vows and they will not break their friendship in life. The wife completes this
round by going in front of the husband praying God of Fire that if death has to
come then let it come to her first before her husband.”
In Sahajayoga , only the spouse should be the life time friend. All other males
and females should be bound in pure Vishnumaya relationship.
Only then the purity of Sahajayoga can be maintained. All the mud drops out
and the beautiful lotus within you becomes visible. Sahajayogis must emit My
Divinity. My beautiful vibrations should flow through all Sahajayogis. My
Divine Light within the Sahajayogis should light others. Sahajayogis have to be
just innocent people, pure personalities, different and unique from the so-called
modern trend. Don’t mind if people call you sissy or simple. Just ignore
artificiality and be simple. By being simple you may be far away from
modernity but remember that you will be very very close to Me…My very
special and divine instruments.”

(Shri Mahalaxmi holds a Lotus, likewise all the deities are comfortable within the Lotus. It is a symbol of
purity, innocence and prosperity)

16
Shri Lalita Chakra and Shri Chakra

(exposure of Shri Chakra, Lalita Chakra and Nabhi Chakra)

Advice given by H.H.Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi:

Ladies should never wear Sleeveless Clothes:

“Shri power is the right side power and the left side power is the Lalita power. So, we have
two Chakras - left side, here, is the Lalita and the right-side, here, is the Shri Chakra. These
two Chakras are working out the right side, Mahasaraswati's power and left side, Mahakali's
power."

"A lot has been written about Shri Chakra, and about Lalita Chakra, but to understand
fundamentally the left side when it reaches up to Vishuddhi, then it uses on the right side the
Shri Chakra, on the left side the Lalita Chakra, to manifest itself. These two chakras are the
ones who manifest all that you see. But these chakras are the ones who emit vibrations of
different kinds and because of their angularities, like if you have some sort of a cardboard
attached with small-small holes of different colours which rotates all the time, you get
different colours, also you can get different permutations and combinations. In the same way
different permutations and combinations are created, and that is how you get all the
advantages of Sahaja Yoga. So these two chakras are very important."

"I am more concerned about two chakras on two sides. I've always told ladies that please
keep this covered. It looks so simple. It's very important. Don't expose this because power of
this should be preserved. Shri chakra and Lalita chakra, they're very important. They are, I
should say, feminine powers and they are the feminine powers of Shri Krishna, which must
be understood that whatever way you respect your body, that is the way your chakras are and
that is the way you suffer."

The search starts within and the transformation is within.

Unveiling The Mystery of Gioconda’s Smile

Leonardo da Vinci began painting the Mona Lisa in 1503 or 1504 in Florence, Italy. The
woman in the painting is Lisa Gherardini, the wife of Francesco del Giocondo, a wealthy
Florentine silk merchant. The portrait is also known as ‘La Gioconda’, which means “jocund”
(“happy” or “jovial”), or literally “the jocund one”.

Shri Mataji explained the story behind Gioconda, “I’ll give an example of Mona Lisa. If you
see Mona Lisa – I mean I don’t know, she cannot be an actress, she cannot win any beauty
contest, I think. She… her face is very serene, very motherly, very pure her eyes. And why is
it that she’s eternally so much appreciated?”

17
Like Mona Lisa now. We like her, Mona Lisa. According to modern standards she cannot
be a beauty because she was a very plump lady, an elderly lady. But today also, if you go
there, you cannot see her painting. It’s so crowded; everybody’s anxious to see Mona Lisa.
And if you go and feel the vibrations, from distance you’ll get vibrations, because the
coefficients of her body, face and everything is made so well, that you get the vibrations”.
The reason is, there is Ganesha principle in her.
“Ganesha establishes within you the higher self. The baser self, which enjoys all the baser
things in life, is cut down or completely destroyed by Shri Ganesha.
Why is it Mona Lisa is eternally so much appreciated?
It’s the Mother. The story goes that this lady had lost her child and she would never smile
again or cry. When one little child was brought to her, and she saw the child, the smile that
came on her face of her love for the child is being depicted by this great artist
(Leonardo da Vinci).”

Leonardo Da Vinci
Today we are celebrating the birthday of the great polymath of the Italian Renaissance,
Leonardo da Vinci (April 15, 1452). Born-realized, with his inner energy awakened, he is one of
the greatest painters of all time and perhaps the most diversely talented person ever to have
lived. Among his paintings, the Mona Lisa is the most famous, the most visited, the most written
about, the most sung about, the most parodied portrait in the world. Let’s see what stands
behind such brilliant artwork.
In the course of the talk, Shri Mataji mentions many times that people who get their Self-
Realization are able to identify real art easily because they can feel the cool vibrations it emits.
“So those who become higher persons have higher aesthetics, higher values and higher type of
compassion. The higher aesthetics come with the feeling of these cool vibrations. Like Mona
Lisa is a beautiful painting because she emits vibrations.”

18
“…those who get Realization start feeling the knowledge which is absolute. Seeing the
knowledge, knowing the knowledge… The whole aesthetics are worked out through vibrations.
All the beautiful things, as I told you last time, of the world, real beautiful things have vibrations.
Like Mona Lisa I told you the other day, if you go and feel her vibrations, she has vibrations.
Now the one who has made her has put his joy into her and she emits vibrations. And that is
the thing that gives joy to you because you are at a level where you can feel those vibrations.”

“When you see a beautiful picture, say you see a Mona Lisa, you think this Leonardo
Da Vinci what he must have done, how much it will cost, this, that, all those things.
But a realised soul does not think, he just looks, looks at it without thinking. The joy
of the creation of that beautiful painting absolutely is reflected in his mind like in a
ripple-less lake; all that is surrounding it is completely reflected. That’s how the
sense of beauty and aesthetics change absolutely. And we have had so many great
people who were born-realized before”.

NUDITY LACKS POSITIVE VIBES:

(Nudity may be the imagination of famous sculptors, but does not emit positive vibrations)

“Humans are intelligent and we have morals and see ourselves far apart from
animals, also clothing is important for humans for protection against the elements
and maintaining body health and hygiene, clothing in my opinion is vital.”

Shri Mataji: ‘For things now. Things have no value unless and until there are emotions behind it.’
“For example the Sari I am wearing today, was bought for Guru Day.. Then I said if
you insist I may have, but I wore it today just to say that this was bought with that
devotion, that love that: ‘on Guru Day, Mother would like to wear something of a
lighter shade‘; white-the pure colour of silk,-complete detachment. But in white all
the colours are mixed, then only it becomes white-such a balance and unity it is. It

19
should be that you should become white and whiter than snow. DETACHMENT IS
PURITY, IS INNOCENCE. INNOCENCE IS SUCH A LIGHT, LIGHT THAT
REALLY BLINDS YOU TO ALL THAT IS FILTHY. You would not even know
that a person has come with bad intentions. A person comes to you, comes to steal.
You’ll say, ‘come along, what do you want’. You’ll offer him tea and all that, then
he says,. ‘ I have come to rob you”. “Alright rob me, if you want to”, So he might
not rob you at all. That is what is innocence, which one may develop, only through
DETACHMENT. DETACHMENT IS OF THE ATTENTION. Do not allow your
attention to get involved into something, even rituals of anything…
If some mistakes may be committed, what does it matter ? If you see on the abstract plane.
It’s LOVE. This is just a step forward, like somebody ran very fast and fell down before
reaching me and says, “Mother, Sorry, I fell down before reaching you, I should have not
done that. But, mother see, how I prostrated before you”. It’s a complete poetry-
DETACHMENT.

Enjoy your generosity. How many times must I have told you about Generosity.
I remember once I wanted to give a Sari that I had from abroad. You see, in India, people like
that kind of a Sari very much, although I do not understand why they like this nylon sort of
Sari. A lady said, “I have not got a Sari from abroad and I would like to have one imported
Sari”. I had only one such Sari left with me because I am quite good at giving away. So, I
told one of my niece in-laws that I want to give away this Sari to her. On a holy day, we can
give it to elders and so I’ll give it to her. She said, “You have only one left now, why do you
want to give away even that? You have given away all you had”. I said, “Now, I feel like
giving. I will give it away”. And we were discussing this in the kitchen and I said, “why do
you tell me, I am not going to take advice on this point”. And at that time, the bell rang and a
gentleman came, he had brought 3 Saris for me from Africa and one of them was exactly the
same as one I had. Because I had given some silk Saris to this lady when she was going to
Africa, she thought she could send me some Sari, and she sent me these Saris.
You are just standing in the centre: from one door it comes and from the other it goes.
It is nice to see all that movement. It is very interesting.

Apart, from that the way you give it, the emotional side of it is so beautiful, you cannot
imagine it. I met a lady after say 30 years of her married life in London, suddenly and she
said, “Oh what a coincidence”. I said, “why” ? She said, “(today) I am wearing the same
pearl necklace you had given me on my wedding-day ... and I should meet you”. The whole
thing, the whole drama changed with the meeting, it is how you give even a small thing it is
the greatest art of giving that one has to learn in Sahaja Yoga. Give up the mundane type of
things, like if you go to somebody’s birthday, you send a card, ‘thank you, very much’.

Make it a more deeper significant thing. Let us see how you develop your symbols of love.

When you have these things of vibrations and you will give it to a Sahaja Yogi,’ he will know
what it is. Never lack in generosity… Gradually, you will be amazed how through small
things you win over as if the vibrations flow through those things and work out for those
people.

"So all these things are to be understood, but you cannot get a kind of a book on it. So far they have
not been able to do it. But all those who find, say, something about it, so you can classify it, you can
note it down that this is, Mother said about this thing, or this She has said about this thing ... so you
can put different headings, and can jot it down, this is what She said."

"So one should understand that you are not to pay for this. You are not to pay for what I say to you, or
for my lectures, or anything, or for your Realization, not at all, not a single pie [small Indian coin] for
that. You cannot pay for it. It is so invaluable. ... It is absolutely overflowing. It's absolutely freely
coming to you. So you cannot pay for it. It's Love, and Love you cannot purchase."

Rakhi - The Thread of Pure Love, Trust and Protection between a

Sister and a Brother celebrated on Raksha Bandhan Day

Shri Mataji: “Today in India, we celebrate a special festival. It is called as Raksha bandhan. ‘Raksha’
means protection and ‘bandhan’ means the bondage – the bondage of protection. It’s a very nice,
good, social custom to have this beautiful festival today. On this day is the full moon day and this day
what we do is to tie a band of threads around the person whom you want to protect. It is done between
brothers and sisters. The sisters tie this bondage to the wrist of the brothers, and when we do that,
they’re putting all their love around the wrist, that it is the day for giving all their love, everything to
their brother, as a protection, as a symbol of their protection through that thread. It’s a very, very
simple thread they use. And this is has to be tied on the left-hand side. But people tie it on the right-
hand side, which is a mistake, but it has to be tied on the left-hand side. In our Sahaja Yoga the
significance of left wrist is that it is the left Vishuddhi. Left Vishuddhi, which is here. And this is
the left Vishuddhi expressed here, you know that very well. Now, left Vishuddhi is the place
where our relationship of brothers and sisters exist. When they are disturbed within us, we start
getting the problem of the left Vishuddhi.”

Rakhi stands for the celebration of emotions and is also known as Raksha Bandhan “ the knot of
protection”. People have a belief that the thread of Rakhi has a strong power to hold the affectionate
relation of a brother and sister. Since ages, this festival is being celebrated to cherish the most sacred
relation on this globe. The festival of Rakhi is celebrated in almost all the corners of this world and
the name of this festival changes as soon as one enters into a new region. India is worldly known for
its strong family based system, therefore, Rakhi is celebrated with lots of hues of love and care. The
festivity of Rakhi has been showcasing the eternal love and care between brothers and sisters. This
festival of Rakhi is seen as a way of expressing your love for those who are always there in dark
days of your life.

Rakhi is Protecting Power. Its bond is very strong and extremely tender because it symbolizes the
noble love of sister. Customarily, tying a Rakhi to someone is establishing a place of Pure Protection.

21
However, man’s ability to understand love has become so feeble that tying of Rakhi has become
merely a mechanical process. All beautiful human traditions become lifeless and dry formalities if
there is no warmth of faith in them.

Raksha-Bandhan Day & Importance & Relationship with

Qualities of Chakras
“Raksha Bandhan because is the sister relationship and brother relationship…So in the
history, if you go, Shri Krishna was born the day his sister was born, and this Vishnumaya
was transferred from, transformed I should say, into a lightning later on, but she was one who
announced the existence of Shri Krishna at that time – that He is born, He is living, He is in
the present. This is the job of the left Vishuddi, of the lightning, and you have seen that
whenever I am going to any place, or I will be giving a program or something, just before
that, the lightning, the thunder, all this appears in the sky, you see, to show that
announcement. So it is one of the things that is used for announcement. To make it more
practical and understanding is that we use electricity now for our televisions, for our
announcements, for telling people about messages of something of great importance. I don’t
know if they do it, might not be. In the same way we should use our left Vishuddi for the
announcement of the coming of Adi Shakti. But on the contrary, people start using it as a
pocket kept for our extra ego to be filled. “

“Now, brother sister relationship – the relationship of Vishnumaya is, that Vishnumaya
(governing the Left Vishuddhi Chakra) is the one who is the Sister, sister of Shri Krishna (the
Incarnation that opened Vishuddhi Chakra at universal level). She is the one who announced
the Coming of Shri Krishna. She is the one who sacrificed her life to save Shri Krishna’s life.
Vishnumaya is the one which surrounds Shri Krishna; and She was born as Draupadi who,

22
you know, was later humiliated by Duryodhana and it was Shri Krishna (as a Rakhi brother)
who came and helped her.”

“This (Raksha-Bandhan festival) is an extremely important day, especially for America. We

can see that when we ascend in the collective consciousness and we have collective living,
collective meeting at the Vishuddhi chakra – Shri Krishna established this or he manifested
this pure relationship of a sister. In a collective life that we have .. if we do not have this basic
principle within us there will be chaos, complete chaos. Like the chaos of the American
social system. The purity of relationships should be established. A brother is a brother, a
sister is a sister. ‘Apart from my wife all the rest are my sisters or mothers.’ Doesn’t
matter what is the blood relationship. It is a common thing in the West, that a man starts
having “bad eyes” towards a friend of the wife; Because from very childhood if you have not
fixed your attention on your sister with all that purity – you cannot have that pure feelings for
another woman. Small, innocent children can have that dimension of pure sisterly
relationship, despite corruption in the society. It is a brother’s duty to protect and respect his
sister’s chastity. And it is sister’s duty to keep the brother morally alright. In India or China
for example they .. would correct the immoral behaviour. Also in other cultures, for example,
a wife can count on help from the husband’s sister to correct his wrong behaviour. It is an
innate thing, regardless of culture, that a sister would try to dissuade the brother from doing
something immoral or illegal. It is her “divine right” to correct. In societies with pure brother-
sister relationships usually sisters don’t do wrong things. And if they do – brothers will try to
correct them. So this right to correct between brother and sister is an innate Ganesha principle
(leading the Root = Mooladhara chakra) which acts on the Vishuddhi chakra.

“This (Vishuddhi chakra) is the center of communication, mothers and sisters relationships. There are
three types of relationships with women: first the mother, second the sister or daughter and third the
wife. The daughter cannot correct the father but would stand by him even if he was wrong. The son
will correct the father to protect the mother. It is a natural thing, male force supporting the female
force or female force correcting the male force to keep the society clean and within proper mariadas
(boundaries). Only rakshasas (demons) or barbarians will break that purity. But such is our society
and mentally we accept these things as norms. Why look at every person with lust or greed?! This
abandonment starts when basic relationships are spoiled in childhood due to the atmosphere or other
things. Once this Ganesha principle on the Vishuddhi is ruined it’s very difficult”

How to Improve the Left Vishuddhi Chakra? How to bring down the Ego?

“Now the whole idea of this.. is such that when you have called somebody as a sister or a
brother then it is not only lip service, “You are my sister”. It is something innate, and very
deep. You have to develop that feeling of a sister. Because that’s how your Sublimity will
go up, your left-Vishuddhi (The energy centre placed on the left side between the neck
and the shoulder) will improve, your Vishnumaya (power/principle that incarnated same
time with Shri Krishna) will be satisfied. If you call somebody a sister, the sisterly and
daughterly relationships, and motherly relationships, always bring down the so-called ego,
which is hiding in the Left Vishuddhi (chakr). So try to be kind and gentle with the person
whom you call the sister. Stand by her. Look after her. If somebody you call your brother,
you have to pray for his protection; then you must know that you have a right to ask him for
his protection also. But you must also give something to him, and you must try to look after
him, welcome him to your house, and treat him as a part and parcel of your being, because he
is very much near to you because he is your brother, and he’s very much closer to you. But
such a brother should not try to dominate”

23
“So it’s a very sweet relationship of Purity, of Help. A very delicate relationship is to be maintained
of a Brother and a Sister. And that is a special relationship. Today, those who want to tie the Rakhis to
a sister should tie today before me, it will be a good idea. It is a greater relationship than any other
relationship. .. So the brother and sister relationship should be alright. In that also one should not have
preferences because some would like to have a rich sister! Or some sort of a nonsense like that. Or
somebody would like to have the most miserable one.

This is all but a relationship with a person with whom you would like to be
happy, you should tie the Rakhi.”

Ego as Guilt – in Chakras, in Family and in Community:

“When we feel guilty, firstly we feel guilty when our sense of relationships are not alright. For
example, we do not understand a sister and a brother, the relationship which is very pure, and, is
above all kinds of contamination. But, as you know in the West, because maybe of drinking and doing
all kinds of things which are against awareness, people have lost the value system, and in that they
have also lost the system to understand what is a sister and what is a brother. So Vishnumaya is so
important – extremely important – because of Her announcement of an incarnation takes place. It’s,
you can say, in the cosmos that is the “television” that announces.:-) It works it out. But in our own
being Vishnumaya resides in the left Vishuddi, and I find that Vishnumaya is the thing that suffers the
most, specially in the West, because it’s a fashion to feel guilty about everything.

So we have to see for ourselves that what makes us guilty for small things is actually is our
own Ego reacting against us and wants us to reconcile with that mistakes we have committed.
Like some people feel guilty because they have said something which they should not have
said, or maybe because they have done something which they should not have done normally.
May not be on a Sahaja Yoga basis, may be something else also, very frivolous.”

“So Rakhi Poornima is the day of a very big relationship between brother and sister where a
sister never feels guilty and brother never feels guilty. Sister and brother should never feel
guilty among themselves and they should always openly tell whatever they think wrong or
whatever they think is right. There’s no harm, a sister can always go and correct the brother,
and the brother can always come and correct the sister. This is the relationship in which
nobody should feel hurt and bad, because this is the purest relationship that you could think
of. As Mother, if she tells something, the difference of age is so much that you may not
understand. Maybe, if the father says something the children may not understand, difference
of age is too much. Also the norms we have created, of saying that there’s a generation gap
and all this nonsense, that is also in the head. But supposing a brother and sister, if they,
between themselves, understand Sahaja Yoga, they have every right to say whatever is wrong
between them and work it out – not to put it as a guilt. But now with Rakhi sister is even
better. Now with Rakhi sister we have established a beautiful atmosphere that somebody who
is a brother, who cannot have any funny relationships with that person. It kills all your
flirtations, all your funny, funny relationships that one develops, all kinds of marriage
breaking problems, and people going astray, once you have understood the principle that we
have to first settle ourselves on very holy relationship with each other. This is the way, in
Sahaja Yoga, we establish that holy relationship. And moreover, one has to see that this holy
relationship gives you joy, happiness, and pleasure. It is not just a holy relationship of some
force or some sort of thing. Even if you cannot give anything to your sister, or, the brother
cannot do anything for the sister, doesn’t matter. The relationship is in the heart, and is felt

24
very much. When you feel it, that relationship, that sweetness of purity, of holiness,
flows. I know of some people who have sacrificed such a lot for the brothers and so much for
the sisters also.

So one has to understand this relationship is to be kept very clean, beautiful, and
absolutely open – there should be no formality in it. That a brother should go and say ‘I’m
sorry’, and the sister should go and say ‘I’m sorry’. You have to be open and tell – you
should never feel bad about your brother and sister. But it can be the other way around. I have
seen people, like there was a bhootish women, who turned out to be very bhootish (negative),
and then somebody said, but ‘she’s my Rakhi sister’. So what?! As soon as she becomes
bhootish there’s no Rakhi. Impurity, any impurity walking in, no Rakhi anymore. Finished.
That’s broken long time back. You have to have pure relationships of pure personality.
You cannot have impure personalities, “and then I must help, I have a weakness for the” – it
has created lots of problems for me in America this Rakhi sister just started creating a king of
a problem of a, we can say, intrigue, and she started telephoning to her Rakhi brothers, and
all Rakhi brothers joined in, in that intrigue. It should not, in any way, cover discretion.
That’s why the discretion stands in between. To understand when Rakhi sister is telling you
something – is it going against Sahaja Yoga or for Sahaja Yoga? That discretion is in
between. Before you go to this point you have a discretion here to see for yourself that this
Rakhi relationship has to be nourishing, supporting, helping, Sahaja Yoga (= spiritual
growth). Other than that it doesn’t exist.”

PROTECTING THE CHAKRAS:

Below is further information about protecting the Chakras:

Wear natural fibres especially with clothing which touch the skin

Avoid antibiotics if at all possible. They are very hard on the body and on
the Swadisthan, Nabhi, Heart, and back Agnya. With Sahaj treatments
most illness will clear up in a short time.

Keep a neat appearance (clean clothes, neat hair etc.) Negativity is

attracted by a slovenly appearance.

Dress Modestly

Wash your hands before eating

Vibrate your food and drink before eating. This can be done by making
clockwise movements with your right hand over the food or drink

Avoid alcohol. Even small amounts of alcohol disturbs the attention.

Alcohol makes meditation very difficult or impossible.

Always keep the knees covered. The chakras are also reflected on the
arms and legs. The knees are Connected to the Nabhi chakra. Having
them exposed can lead to the Nabhi chakra becoming damaged.

Always wear an undershirt. This applies to men and women and at all
times of the year, warm or cold.

25
An undershirt absorbs sweat and keeps the area around the Heart
chakra dry and protected.

Always keep the shoulders covered even in the summertime. On the

shoulders are two very important chakras called Lalita and Shri Chakra.
These chakras manifest our inner qualities on the outside. Damage to
these chakras can lead to very serious diseases like Parkinson's disease.

The Lalita chakra on the left shoulder is very important for the health of
the entire left channel. This chakra manifests the pure joy of the left
side.

The Shri chakra on the right shoulder is very important for the health of
the entire right channel. This chakra enables us to be dynamic and
creative.

Always wear a scarf in cool or cold weather.

Avoid looking at very negative people, especially in the eyes. Negativity

can easily enter into the Agnya through the eyes. You should make a
habit to look only 3 feet above the ground where you will see small
innocent children, animals, green grass and plants. When you look
above 3 feet look at the vast sky, and the greenery of nature. This will
give purity to your eyes and protect your Agnya and you will feel
divinely energetic.

The Agnya can be protected by wearing a bindi using your Agnya finger.

During the daytime an oil bindi can be used to protect the Agnya

At night a red bindi with kumkum can be used. This helps to prevent
nightmares and is very soothing to the Agnya.

Keep hair away from the forehead. There are natural destructive
powers placed along the forehead (the Ekadesha Rudras). These
powers destroy negativity attempting to enter into your subtle system.
Covering the forehead can prevent these powers from being effective.

26
Keep the Brahmarandra oiled. The
Brahmarandra is the fontanel area which is
soft and uncovered by the skull in babies.

At least once a week put a lot of oil all over

the head and rub the oil into the scalp. Leave
the oil on the head overnight.

All the chakras also have their pithas (seats)

in the head. Oiling the head is a way of
clearing the chakras and helps the Sahasrara
to remain open. We should wash in running
water.

Water absorbs vibrations. When we wash, the water helps to cleanse us

by removing negative energy. For these reasons, we should wash our
hands and face in running water. If we take a bath we should rinse
ourselves afterwards to clear away the negatively charged water.

We should wash ourselves in water at the right temperature. Left-sided

people (those who suffer from depression) can wash in warm but not
hot water. Bathing in hot water can negatively affect the Heart chakra
which can lead to a depressed immune system. Right-sided people
(those who suffer from tension) should wash in cool or cold water to
reduce the heat produced from their over-activity.

After bathing we must be careful to properly dry ourselves and dress

before stepping out of the bathroom into a different temperature. A
quick change in temperature can catch the Heart and/or Vishuddhi
chakra.

In a cold climate like Toronto we should not leave the house 1 hour after
we wash ourselves and 3 hours after washing our hair. This applies
during all but the warmest months.

After bowel movements we should wash with water toilet paper alone.
rather than with The Mooladhara chakra manifests in the organs of
excretion and reproduction. The health of the Mooladhara chakra is
extremely important as it supports the Kundalini in her ascent. Water is
the element used for cleansing and should be used to keep this area
clean.

27
Keep the teeth and gums clean (the upper teeth are connected to the
right Vishuddhi while the lower teeth are connected to the left
Vishuddhi). Brush the teeth after meals and before eating in the morning
(herbal toothpaste or black Monkey Brand tooth powder is
recommended). Floss every evening.

Rub the gums with a mixture of olive oil and salt every evening after
brushing and flossing. Put a small amount of olive oil on your left palm
and a bit of salt. Mix it into a paste with your right index finger and rub
it into the gums and on the tongue and upper palate. Rinse with water
afterwards.

Keep the sinuses clean. The sinuses are part of a sub-chakra of

Vishuddhi called Hamsa Chakra which gives our attention the power of
discrimination.

Put a few drops of ghee (clarified butter) in each nostril at night before
retiring. The easiest way to do this is to fill up a small glass medicine
dropper with warm ghee. At night place the dropper bottle with ghee in
a cup of hot water from the tap, in a few moments it will be liquid. Then
lie hot water from the tap, in a few moments it will be liquid. Then lie
down and tilt the head back putting a few drops of ghee in each nostril.

Ghee can be purchased from Indian shops (make sure it is not vegetable
ghee but ghee made from cow's milk) or as clarified butter in some
supermarkets. It can also be easily made from butter by warming butter
at a low heat and spooning off the foam and congealed protein from the
top. When nothing more rises to the top it is ready (it will be translucent
like clear vegetable oil).

Rinse the nostrils with salt water every morning or more often when you
have a cold. This is done by taking slightly salted water and sniffing
some in each nostril from your cupped hands.

Keep the eyes clean

Put kajal in the night before sleeping. It can be purchased from Indian
shops, it is a black paste made from ghee and camphor. It is clearing for
the eyes. Put a small amount on the lower eyelids with the index finger.
It may sting slightly and will clear the eyes by producing tears.

The ears can be kept clean by putting one or two drops of olive oil in
each ear before sleeping. Make sure not to put too much oil. The best
way is to use a dropper. The oil will bring dirt to the surface of the outer
ear.

Do not wash your hair too often (once or twice a week is sufficient). The
natural oil of the scalp protects the head and hair. Washing too often
dries out the head and makes the oil glands produce more oil than
normal. A dry scalp can lead to losing hair. Use a gentle shampoo and do
not put harsh chemicals in the hair. A herbal shampoo should be used.
There are natural dyes at herbal stores.

Shri Mataji’s answers to the Doctors’ queries:London (UK), 2000
Question: Regarding Sinusitis? Shri Mataji would the onions as well need to be hot?
Shri Mataji: Yes, very hot. As hot as you can bear it. It’s a very simple thing. Usually if you
have sinus, don’t travel.

Question: Shri Mataji we made a list of questions to ask you because sometimes some yogis
ask us questions and we’re not absolutely sure about them.
Shri Mataji: About diseases?
Doctor: Yes Shri Mataji about them.
Shri Mataji: Chemotherapy I’m against. There is no need. It’s a wrong thing chemotherapy.
You see they produce heat, you loose your hair. Such a lot of heat and other complications
will come with heat that is but Sahaja Yoga is a simple method. You do use heat in the sense,
you use camphor and also candles but candles should be big, thick and should give light but
you don’t put it inside the body.

Question: So in general for cancer say Shri Mataji surgery or radiotherapy would be better
than Chemotherapy?
Shri Mataji: Chemotherapy is absolutely dangerous. It goes from one to the other see, it is a
left sided problem, so chemotherapy gives you heat, with the heat for the time being, the left
side improves. But in reality it’s something else that’s all. But you can give heat from
outside. Camphor is very heating. So you can have havan, you can have camphor, you can
have three candles treatment but what they do is they take such a small little candle you
know, that’s not the way. You must have a thick candle. Use a thick candle with a thick light
so the heat is given from outside. Even you can use ajwain.

Question: This is about radiotherapy, x-ray treatment. Sometimes if there is cancer they treat
it with x-ray which is called radiotherapy.
Shri Mataji: Nothing should go inside. Maybe x-ray might help but x-ray also penetrates
inside the body. It’s useless.

Question: Shri Mataji this is regarding the various scans like C.T. scan, MRI scan. These are
x-ray type scans. For example, id there is a problem or a disease in an organ they scan it to
see where the problem is. Shri Mataji you’ve said about ultrasound that the pregnant women
shouldn’t do ultrasound scans because the realised baby or foetus can be harmed by them.
Shri Mataji – There is no harm in that because it’s outside. Ultrasound you don’t put it inside
do you?
Doctor: No, but the sound waves go inside.
Shri Mataji: Doesn’t matter. That doesn’t matter so much. But there is no need. Ultrasound is
alright but Ultrasound doesn’t have the heat. What you need is the heat. It doesn’t have
heating.
OK what’s this epidural?
Doctor: Shri Mataji when ladies are in labour, when they are having a baby, going through
labour pains, then an epidural is inserted in their spine. A small plastic capita, a pipe, a tiny
tube and then you put some drugs into it to numb their nerves. Local anaesthetic.
Shri Mataji: I mean I will tell you there were 3-4 cases. One was a doctor also and should e
came to me and had a funny complication that her spine had contracted and there was a big
protrusion on the inside and should e got a fright and should e came to me. So I gave her
bandhan and I put my hand there and I told her she’ll have a painless this… If such women if
they meditate they’ll have painless delivery. 4-5 people had painless delivery. 4-5 when they

29
came to me. It’s very good painless delivery. For example this, my grand daughter, she’s you
know tiny whiny you know and this child was about 8 pounds and she’s so small. She had a
painless delivery. So you can do that. So if should e meditate you don’t have to do all these
nonsensical things because you might spoil the spinal cord. The spinal cord is a very delicate
thing.
What is OCP?
Doctor: Shri Mataji that is the contraceptive pill for contraception and hormone replacement
therapy. These are hormones that ladies take when their own hormone levels start to go
down. Like oestrogen they take after the menopause. The hormone replacement therapy is
hormones that ladies take after menopause.
Shri Mataji: But what is the use?
Doctor: It’s to prevent Osteo perosis Shri Mataji. Shri Mataji after menopause, after the
periods have stopped, the bones of women get weak. So doctors say that if they continue to
take this hormone replacement therapy then the bones will remain strong. The calcium in the
bones is reduced after menopause that’s why they say this is good.
Shri Mataji: There is no need to have menopause you see. I don’t think sahaja yogis will
have menopause, they won’t have. Menopause comes out of imbalance within you.
That’s why it comes. If you are in balance you won’t have any menopause. I never had, I
mean, I know so many people who never had.
Doctor: Menopausal problems Shri Mataji? You mean they won’t have any problems with
menopause Shri Mataji?
Shri Mataji: No Problems. You can take calcium, soluble calcium during menopause. That’s
the time to take it.

Question: What about the contraceptive pill Shri Mataji.

Shri Mataji: That’s not a good thing. It’s not very good. There is no need to take this pill.

Question: Shri Mataji, should women do any kind of contraception or not?

Shri Mataji: They should do but must be external. I’m against taking inside.

Question: Shri Mataji, this is about allergies. When people have eczema, is it a hot liver or a
cold liver?
Shri Mataji: You see all allergies are due to bad liver. All allergies are. Skin is looked after
by the liver. That’s the basic thing. Now you see when a child is born and the mother is
eating food or something which is bad for the liver or when the child is born.. mostly there
are jaundice I’ve seen in the young age because of the hospital perhaps they maybe catch. So
such a person gets allergies. So you must treat the liver. By treating the liver you perfect it.
Anand you see my great grandson had some allergies. So I told him, Anand put some ice on
your liver. Finished. There are no allergies left.
Zafar: So it’s a hot liver not a lethargic liver?
Shri Mataji: It’s a hot liver. It explodes.
Doctor: How do we know which one is cold and which one is lethargic?
Shri Mataji: On vibrations. On vibrations you can feel it. You see there are symptoms
connected with liver. A cold liver will be an enlarged liver and hot is contracted. So for the
liver best is to look after the one which is heated up because it’s the one that creates all the
problems. If it is enlarged also you can reduce it by eating something like ‘chana’ (gram) and
all these things. Chana and all such things which can contract but not which can enlarge, like
rice can enlarge, carbohydrates also milk gives heat. So many things like that which we take
can enlarge the liver. It is we can say people who eat too much of sugar that can enlarge
because you give sugar for hot. Sugar we give for hot liver as a treatment. But if somebody is

30
eating too much of sugar, then it will be enlarged. Sugarcane juice too much, you see if
anything goes in imbalance then it’s not right. And sweets like you find in Bengali’s, they
have an enlarged liver. Why? Because they eat sweets which are not fried but you see are
made out of this protein thing with a lot of juices. Like they have this ‘chom chom’ and this
and that. These Bengali sweets if you eat , then you have an enlarged liver.

Question: So Shri Mataji when the liver is enlarged is it lethargic? I mean when we eat too
many sweets.
Shri Mataji: Yes it’s possible. It shouldn’t be enlarged, it is out of function then, one is overly
functioning , hot one and this is out of function. I mean that also imagine. They’ll get a bit
belly.

Question: Shri Mataji what are the symptoms of a lethargic liver?

Shri Mataji: The person will be lethargic by temperament. He doesn’t think much. He has
problems walking. He cannot walk properly. Has a big belly. Can have gases. Just the
opposite of the liver when it is hot. He doesn’t have allergies. For a person who’s liver is
enlarged, he never gets allergies but is lethargic by temperament. He sleeps a lot. Is left sided.

Question: Shri Mataji this is about auto immune diseases for example like in Rheumatoid
Arthritis, in which your own antibodies harm you, example in the joints.
Shri Mataji: I know arthritis. In arthritis again heat with ajwain and it’s also left sided.

Question: Shri Mataji we use hot ajwain?

Shri Mataji: Yes heat with hot ajwain. You can also use other heating things. In it you can use
candle treatment and also you can also correct the left side by putting your left hand to the
photograph and put the light and putting your right hand to the mother earth. It comes from
the mother earth. You can also do it by using the mantra for the mother earth.

Question: Shri Mataji why is it that your own antibodies harm you?
Shri Mataji: No, no, what happens is you have low level of calcium and with that your bones
become like that. There are two types of arthritis. In one there is too much calcium and in the
other there is a deficiency of calcium. There are two types of arthritis. One is the one, I don’t
know what it’s called which pains a lot.
Doctor: Osteo arthritis.
Shri Mataji: Yes one pains. There is a terrible pain all the time on the legs and on the knees
and all that. And another one you get crippled. So these are due to calcium deficiency. The
painful one is due to calcium deficiency and the other one that you have is due to too much of
calcium.
Doctor: The one that cripples?
Shri Mataji: Yes the one that pains. In medical science there is no differentiation. You don’t
have the same treatment for all. Example for a person say who has pain. You should take
phosphorus. Phosphorus, in my book I’ve written about phosphorus. Phosphorus gives you
heat and with that heat, it improves. They can take phosphorus if they have pain. Phosphorus
will cure it. The other one when you have, it is due to too much calcium.

Question: Shri Mataji in what form should we take phosphorus? In tablets or in fish or food?
Shri Mataji: In the blood. It is in the genes. Phosphorus I’ve written. Have you read that all
doctors?
Doctor: I think so Shri Mataji, yes you’ve written that in your book.

31
Shri Mataji: No one has talked about it so far but I’ve said it that there is phosphorus in your
genes. Then if you are a dry person, then it explodes and you get the heat.

Question: Can we buy it?

Shri Mataji: Yes, yes you can buy it. Phosphorus is also in certain salts. They also take sea
weed. That has phosphorus. But it gets cured just by meditating. There was one lady who was
so badly off, she could not even sit on the ground. Then I told her, you do your right side this
thing treatment. She’s alright now. She’s walking, she sits on the ground. The another one is
difficult.

Question: Shri Mataji this is about autism, about autistic children.

Shri Mataji: It’s a badha. You have to do treatment for the badha. Lemon, chillies and all that.
It’s caused by a badha. They are normal otherwise, they are really normal but they go into
sort of epileptic. Epileptic they have a badha.

Question: this is about M.E., yipping flu Shri Mataji.

Shri Mataji: Yipping disease, this is right sided. You see this is very common these days
because those who work very hard and also very proud of there work and they want to
behave like beurocrates and all that, that is called yipping disease. Mostly to beurocrates. If
not to beaurocrates then also you can say to business, the top people of business, they have it.
We have cured. So what you have to do is give them all the left side treatments. I mean right
side treatment to bring them more in the left side. Yes, also you must sit in the water with
your right foot, put right hand towards the photograph. Without the light and right foot and
also you can put ice here and ice there. Same as liver treatment. Actually it’s a liver problem.

Question: Shri Mataji this is about phosphate but you’ve already answered it. What about
people with high level of phosphate.
Shri Mataji: High level of phosphate can lead to a very angry person and this is not the end of
it. If you’re an angry person you get heart attack.

Question: Shri Mataji for women who can’t have children, should they have in-vitro
fertilisation or not?
Shri Mataji: No, I mean try Sahaja Yoga. It can happen with Sahaja Yoga.
Doctor: Shri Mataji many Sahaja yoginies find difficulties to have babies.
Shri Mataji: It’s all right side. Mostly it is right sided. But for example Danya, her mother had
cancer and she was shocked, so her shock that is left sided. It can be too much of left side or
too much of right side. Right side also, overly educated all the time working very hard.
Mostly right side also left side possible, example you are possessed, something like that.
Throughout sahaja yoga you must understand whether right sided or left sided. And we have
very simple things to correct both sides.

Question: Shri Mataji what is the treatment for fibroids in the uterus?
Shri Mataji: For that son there is a thing, for anything of the uterus mostly it is left sided
problem. Any growth in the body is left sided problem. So what they do is to get a vessel,
they put charcoal in it, not too much. In modern this thing it’s easy and put something again
ajwain and you keep it inside the say WC or if you have a b-day and sit on that. Burn it.

Question: Shri Mataji can I ask a question? Cristina’s husband Tim who is our singer, when
he sings very high, he gets pain in his head here and if he does this, down, he gets pain here.

32
Shri Mataji: He’s caught a cold son, another thing I’ll tell you, sometimes you feel pressure in
the brain, isn’t it? And I’ve experimented myself on that, so now you must sneeze and your
cold must go out, the cold has gone up to the head. This theory doesn’t exist for you people
but this cold if it goes to the brain you become absolutely… What do you call ‘bhan bhan’?
You feel like the whole head is blocked. You feel pressure and you can’t hear. You feel so
disgusted, that’s the thing. For that you must take out your cold. For that you see one thing I
found out in Ayurveda is called ‘Shinkhani’. Tell Alga to bring the ‘Shinkhani’, it’s a small
little bottle costs you 2-3 rupees. If you smell it, with that smelling you get a terrible sneezing
and you clear out. Very common in England. Many people don’t wear hats, they don’t cover
themselves. They catch a cold and it goes to the head. It’s in the head you see. And on the
outside your lungs are all right, everything is alright. But the head is …Very common I’ve
seen here.

Question: Will this clear back agnya mother? Will it clear back agnya heaviness?
Shri Mataji: Back agnya is also same candle treatment but also with this you get back agnya.

Question: And this will clear it?

Shri Mataji: You see there are 2 types of again colds. One is from the liver and one is from
real cold. So the one which is with the liver, you know you have to treat with ice and all that.
Because you have cold you think, why should we put ice but you have to.
Asthma is again due to liver. Also supposing the husband is very dominating and he also has
a bad liver. Because he’s dominating he has a bad liver, so it is added to that. Such a person
gets a very bad asthma.

Question: From the husband?

Shri Mataji: Hot temper.

Question: Shri Mataji asthma in children, is it due to the father?

Shri Mataji: It’s the same. Fix their liver.
Question: Child’s liver?

Shri Mataji: Yes. Give sugar to the child. You know the treatment of liver, sugar, vibrated
water all that. He’ll be alright. It’s very simple, very simple.
Doctor: Shri Mataji you told us that eczema is due to the liver.

Question: Shri Mataji what is the reason for the peritoneum drying out and what are its
symptoms?
Shri Mataji: That’s also liver son. Liver is the giver of heat. So, of course there is the other
one but it’s due to the one that is overactive. It’s due to that one.

Question: Shri Mataji what are its symptoms?

Shri Mataji: In that you just put ice. Ice here, ice there and it’s very good and also cold water
bath you can give.

Question: Shri Mataji this is about fungal infections, especially women tend to get these.
Shri Mataji: Again for that is ajwain treatment. Put a vessel on the fire and put some charcoal
and then on that some ajwain and put it on the WC so it will come up and you sit on the WC.

Question: In front of the WC?

Shri Mataji: I mean put it on the b-day or on that.

33
Question: Shri Mataji what about haemorrhoids or piles?
Shri Mataji: Piles? I don’t know but for piles I’m making a medicine in India. It’s made from
Aloe Vera from that. But piles you’ll be amazed, Manoj’s wife had very bad piles after
child’s birth, so, I was there so she told me and they were all worried because she was
bleeding very mush. And next time I went there they said its disappeared. Faith. Faith is the
solution.
There is another this Caren from America. She had a funny disease where all kinds of things
used to grow over her intestines and this and that. It was a strange disease. So once she had
this they operated on her and took out all these. When she came to Cabella she had this
problem and she had arranged with the doctors, I’ll see you and this and that. She stayed in
Cabella and then she went to the doctors where she had the appointment. And it’s all not
there. All finished. Faith. Faith is very important. It’s all the divine play.
These are all external but the divine play is very great. If the divine play takes place you
know so many people who were dead came to life in Sahaja Yoga. Here also that Aaji bai
was dead and gone and they told me that she is finished and I went there and that you may
not be able to do you see because the spirit is hanging around. If you can mange to locate the
spirit, to bring it back and put it in the heart, it’s alright but I don’t know if any of you people
can manage that. But the faith comes. Faith. It happens with faith.
So what is this ticks?
Doctor: Shri Mataji Kazim who is my son, who is going to be 10 years old, for a few months
he does something like this with his eyes. This is called ticks. Sometimes he does this,
sometimes that and sometimes with his mouth. So what should we do for this?
Shri Mataji: It’s caused by the hamsa chakra.
Doctor: Hamsa chakra Shri Mataji. Treat him also with onions?
Shri Mataji: hot onions.

Question: Shri Mataji this a question regarding pregnant ladies, should they go to public
meetings or not?
Shri Mataji: Of course. They need not work on people.

Question: Shri Mataji if there is a doctor who is pregnant should she work in a hospital or
not?
Shri Mataji: Yes they can no problem but they shouldn’t you see sort of bend. If they all
meditate then it’s alright. Everyday in the night if you meditate and morning time before
going 5 minutes, nothing can happen to you and you’ll have a realised soul. No camphor in
pregnancy. Camphor, ajwain no. They are all heat giving. They should not eat anything heat
giving, like papaya. It’s heat giving. Even fruits have their own tendencies.

Question: Shri Mataji is an ice pack alright in pregnancy?

Shri Mataji: Yes, a little bit is alright. If she is thinking too much it’s better to put it here
(pointing to the ego).

Question: Shri Mataji should we opt for home delivery or hospital?

Shri Mataji: You see if the hospital is good then have it in the hospital. And if you have
someone knowledgeable in the house, you can have it in the house. But the hospital should be
good. I mean in the hospital if the nurses are very harsh or not clean, that can harm. It’s better
in the house but their should be someone knowledgeable in the house, if it’s a sahaja yogi
then another sahaja yogi doctor can help in the house and work it out. It would be better
because hospitals are not good. If there is a good hospital, I mean in England they are good,
then alright.

34
Working environment?
Question: Shri Mataji during pregnancy…
Shri Mataji: You get holidays don’t you?
Doctor: Yes.
Shri Mataji: You should take the holidays when you can. It’s a good idea and also you must
walk. Walking is very important because first you are active and then suddenly you are
inactive. So you should walk. Walking is good.

Question: Shri Mataji this is a question that doctor Settle has asked regarding MS and these
types of diseases.
Shri Mataji: What is M.S.?
Doctor: Multiple Sclerosis Shri Mataji. There is a deficiency in the fat around the nerves in
M.S.
Shri Mataji: So what happens?
Doctor: Can get paralysis, can also get problems with eye sight.
Shri Mataji: Multiple sclerosis. It’s muscular?
Doctor: Shri Mataji it affects the nerves. The fat around the nerves is finished.
Shri Mataji: I’ve cured, I know. I’ve cured M.S. The hands and legs become like this. They
stumble.
Doctor: Yes Shri Mataji they get weak.
Shri Mataji: One thing I’ve seen very surprising, if one of the two, husband and wife, any one
is possessed, the husband gets it if the wife is possessed or if the husband is possessed the
wife gets it. It’s my observation. When the mooladhara gets a badha.

Question: Shri Mataji left or right?

Shri Mataji: See it’s left son. You know if the husband is possessed, he’s not alright, he’s left
sided, so the wife gets it, not the husband. Very common. Whenever I ask him how is your
wife…or how is your husband… It acts on mooladhara no doubt. Its treatment is to treat the
wife of the husband who so ever is that thing and they should do it too if they have the
possession. You can use chillies.
There are many diseases you can get out of possessio y diseases which the doctors are not
sort of aware of. So many diseases you get. It itself is a disease. To be possessed is a disease.
But sometimes what they have is they have a bulge here, the skin bulges out, then there is a
possession. It’s one of the signs. All around the agnya you get bulges like that, one of the
symptoms.
In possession if it’s a very extreme case, then you can make it out that it’s a possession.
You can see that they start shaking before my photograph and shouting, screaming and
all that. That’s a possession. Also the person who is possessed is dull otherwise but
otherwise aggressive. For doing any work or anything he is dull but can be aggressive.
They are mostly overly aggressive on sexual this thing… mostly and also they are
wavered. They are fond of many women and this and that. On this I can give a big
lecture. They have roving eyes. Even slight possession can do that. Very fond of women
and can create problems. It’s mooladhara. The problem is mooladhara.
You’ll be amazed that mooladhara is such a great thing that it supports your nervous system
also supports your muscular system. But they have been cured. Multiple sclerosis has been
cured in sahaja yoga. So you must do worship of Ganesha also you can use the smoke from
ajwain like you use it for colds, you can use it for that. These days it’s very common for
human beings to be like that. You see wavered and all that because the whole atmosphere is
like that. They are talking about it all the time. That’s why it’s called Multiple sclerosis. But
the trouble is that the one who is possessed doesn’t suffer, who so ever is married to a

35
possessed person gets it. It’s mooladhara. Aids is mooladhara. Mooladhara has countless
problems. So mooladhara must be kept very much safe and honoured. Marriage is a
sanctity. One should live with that sanctity. But you know even women have so many
diseases if they go around with other women and all that they can catch. All these other
diseases that people know about, they all come from these bad women. The diseases caused
by mooladhara all of them come from bad women. So the whole culture is so bad that we’re
in for trouble. For example men want to always have a younger woman, so one is discarded,
second is discarded and so it goes on. Alright. Mooladhara is the most important chakra in
our being. It supports us throughout. And in this one I feel sorry that the women suffer.
Osteoporosis comes to women from men and to men from women. If they go to
prostitutes.
Shri Mataji: And this roving eyes also that gives you agnya. People mesmerise with that.
They think it’s a power. Very dangerous and it’s going on I mean in the society especially in
the elegant and educated society. They like parties to flirt. Very dangerous for the eyes.
And you know these viruses so called, they are nothing but bhoots and they enter into you by
so many sources. The whole attention has gone to something else, instead of having self
respect, shamelessness. I’ve seen my great grandson, so small as that, if they remove the
diper he’ll say put the towel on me. What a sense of shame. And there were some girls
swimming in the competition, he said, put towels, towels on them. ‘Lajja rupene
samsthita’, the mantra is this, ‘Ya devi sarva bhuteshu lajja rupene samsthita’.
Shamelessness is not good but some people are shameful but they are secretive, they get all
this but their wives suffer. The part is, one has to be a sahaja yogi to lead a proper healthy
life. And avoid hospitals and doctors as far as possible because they don’t understand some
things.
They go to extremes of everything. I myself suffered because of that. And one doctor used to
come to see my blood pressure, of course Sir C.P. is the vehicle and everyday he would come
here and here everyday. Now both my chakras are in trouble, I mean they are working but
hands… Hospitals also are these days like mafias. They are money orientated. They take the
patient and then the heart is checked, everything is checked and then they charge you for that.
How I got this trouble is because C.P. took me nicely to a mafia hospital and they gave me
these injections funny type, I don’t know what these injections are. 20 in the stomach, 10-10
here and in the hands 5-5. I said what injections are you giving me and they said that’s not
your—-, and I said no, I want to know. With that my muscles got swollen up. And the nerves
that are showing, with the vibrations they got a bit burning, so now the muscles are less and I
get ‘gathiya’, a knot like thing.
So doctors also should not overdo things. They should see to it that they don’t overdo but
sometimes they are overly cautious. Like my husband had a heart trouble, that there was a
missing beat and after that the double bundle was also out of order, so I told C.P. you take for
a short time I say like that a by pass and we’ll try to do that temporarily. So, he would not ask
the doctor but when they discovered about the heart they said that you have to have, and they
were giving general anaesthesia with a heart like that you see. So I told him to tell them that
if you are giving general anaesthesia you must do this and this. They did, I must say they did

36
it. And otherwise his heart is deteriorating because he’s a very hot tempered fellow. Very hot
tempered. I mean later he feel really bad about it but for the small thing he gets angry. See
it’s a kind of a prestige issue. Supposing say he comes to the programme and he has been
given a seat which is not in the front, he’ll explode. This has come because of his job you see,
he was the top man everywhere so he wants to be top everything. This consciousness is there
and he loses temper too much. That’s how he got his heart and mine is thanks to doctors I got
all this nonsense. They wanted to make money out of this. How many pounds is 5 lakh
rupees?
Doctor: Ten thousand pounds Shri Mataji.
Shri Mataji: more than ten thousand pounds. They charged him £10,000 more than £10,000, 5
lakh rupees. I asked him what was the cost and he told me in Hindi, 5 lakh rupees in 5 days.
And how stupid they were. They said I have high blood pressure and they were giving me
chaline. I said, if I have high blood pressure, why give me chaline and thank god the doctor
dreamt of me and he came and he told C.P. they are all mad, otherwise he would have never
taken me out. Thanks to my husband, he has such faith in doctors.
Doctor: Too much faith Shri Mataji that’s true.
Shri Mataji: Now better not that… So you must tell people to control their temper. See if you
get temper you can take a pillow and hit it hard. Do something. But for temper I think the
best is to take the right sided thing. Best to be patient. See this liver is a terrible thing, that’s
why it’s called liver because you live with the liver.
Finished?
Doctor: Yes Shri Mataji.
Shri Mataji: there is still a lot more.
Doctor: Yes Shri Mataji, there is a lot more. Shri Mataji we don’t know anything.
Shri Mataji: Look ‘ eka hi akshar prem ka, pade to pandit hoye’, one word of love, one
who can read that becomes the scholar.
This my great grandson, he has that emotional this thing. So anybody will come, he’ll try to
give them something to eat, something of their interest. All the time he’s thinking how to
make friendship. That is the thing. Then your love starts growing. So nice to be friendly but
human beings are human beings. With meditation your loving power grows, your compassion
grows.

THE DIVINE ENGAGEMENT

(Shri Mataji with husband Sir C.P. Srivastava)

37
Shri Mataji at Nargol in the morning
just after opening the Sahasrara Chakra

.."So the whole night I sat under a bilva tree near the seashore. I was just
thinking, 'How will I manage this en mass realization?' And that is the day when
the seventh chakra opened and when I saw how the kundalini was going to rise
I was all alone and felt very good. There was no one around to say a word. And then in
meditation, I felt that the time had arrived when the Sahasrara must be opened. The moment
I desired for the opening of the Sahasrara, what I noticed was that the Kundalini rose like a
telescope within me, opening one stage after the other, travelling upward – khat, khat, khat.
The colour of it was like the mixture of all the colours of these lamps put together, with which
you have decorated. It was like the colour of molten red-hot iron.

Then I saw the external structure of the Kundalini that kept on rising up, creating sounds at
each chakra. The Kundalini rose up to pierce the Brahmarandhra. Piercing mine was not a
big deal, but then I thought it would now become easier in the world.

I felt at that moment whatever energy was there above suddenly entered within me like a
cool breeze from every direction. It was then I realized that now there was no harm in
starting the work. ...

The confusion was all over. Yet not being completely certain about the decision, I thought
with all calmness that at last the time had come now. "At most what will happen? People will
protest or beat Me up. At maximum, they will laugh or make fun or, beyond that, they are
going to kill me." But then there was nothing to fear. This ultimately had to be done. I had
come on Earth for this purpose only, to awaken the collective consciousness in human
beings. I thought, until people received their Self Realization or understood their own Self,
this task would be impossible.

Whatever else one would have tried to do in this world would be of no use at all. That was
the reason to begin with that I worked it out on an old lady who knew me well. When she
received her Realization, then I was then satisfied. I said to myself, "Well, at least one has
received her Realization." By any means was it an easy task to give Realization in this Kali
Yuga? But then when one of them received Realization, I felt many others could also get
their Realization. And especially at the level of collective consciousness, it would be easier
to give awareness. It was easy to give Realization to one person. It was in fact very easy to
make a person aware. But to work it out on a collective level on the masses, it demanded

38
more work.

So I had to work a bit more with my acquired experiences with the humans. As a matter of
fact, I felt that when I had to stop, what would be the factors that would be required to
consider for taking out the bad habits or individual problems or conditionings from human
beings. Because one individual had one type of problem, another had a second type, while
the third had yet another type. I thought if it had to be worked out on a collective level, then
everyone should get the benefit with a single en-masse Realization. Everyone should be
able to gain out of it. Now I cannot explain it to you here, but it is true that these types of
workings had never been done before on a collective level.

I had achieved all these through meditation.

(H.H. Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, extracts from Hindi talk at Diwali Puja 1995, Nargol, India.)

(Translation and Meaning) THE KAVACH OF THE DEVI

Guru Brahma, guru Vishnu, Guru Devo MaheshwarahGuru Sakshat Parabrahma, Shri Mataji Nirmala
Ma.Tasmai Shri Guruveh Namaha.

The Ten Guru Symbols in Our Void (Bhavsagara)

(The ten incarnations of the Adi Guru Dattatreya are: Raja Janaka, Abraham, Moses, Zarathustra, Confucius, Lao-Tse, Socrates,
Mohammed, Guru Nanak, and Shri Sai Baba of Shirdi.)

Our Guru is the Great Mother. All Her Shakti and Yogini aspects are available for Her children. By
reading The Kavach of The Devi, we mobilise these powers to purify and enlighten our Koshas (our
mental, emotional and physical bodies). Thus by the Power of the Gurumata The Atma becomes The
Guru of the body. While reading the Kavach of The Devi one should put one's attention on the
aspect or the part of the body which is protected. One may also, while reading, pause between the
Names and silently take the corresponding mantra, for example:
Om Twameva Sakshat, Shri Chandi Namoh Namah

The Kavach should be read aloud. It washes away the 'catches' and bathes the children in Divine
Vibrations. May the wisdom and compassion of our Satguru flow through us and reach the four
quarters of the earth.
JAI SHRI MATAJI!

Amen In the Name of Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, the merciful, the compassionate. The protection of Shri
Chandi.Salutation to Shri Ganesha. Salutation to Shri Saraswati.Salutation to Shri Guru. Salutation to
the Deity worshipped in the family, that is Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi.May there be no obstacle.

39
Amen. Salutations to Narayan. Amen. Salutations to Naranaratam, that is, Shri Vishnu. Amen.
Salutations to the Goddess Saraswati. Salutations to Ved-Vyasa, that is, Sage Vyasa, the all knowing.

Now begins the "Kavach" of the Devi.

The Presiding Sage for Shri Chandi-Kavach is Brahma, the metre is Anushtup. The Presiding Deity is
Chamunda; The Main Seed is "Anganyasakta Matar". The Principle is Digbandha Devata. It is recited
as part of Sapta-Shati, to please Jagadamba. Amen. Obeisance to Chandika.
Thus spoke Markandeya:

Amen. O Brahmadeva, please tell me that which is very secret and has not been told by anyone to
anybody else and which protects all human beings in this world.
Brahmadeva said;

Brahmin, there is Devi Kavach which is most secret and useful to all beings. Please listen to that, O
Great Sage.

The following nine names have been told by the Great Soul Brahmadeva Himself. Durga is known by
these names:

1st SHAILAPUTRI Daughter of the King of Himalayas

2nd BRAHMACHARINI One Who observes the state of Celibacy
3rd CHANDRAGANTA One Who bears the Moon around Her neck
4th KOOSHMANDA Whose Void contains the Universe
5th SKANDAMATA Who Gave birth to Karttikeya
6th KATYAYANI Who incarnated to help the Devas
7th KALARATRI Who is even the destroyer of Kali
8th MAHAGAURI One Who made great penance
9th SIDDHIDATRI One Who grant Moksha

Those who are frightened, having been surrounded by the enemies on the battlefield, or are burning
in fire, or being at an impassable place, would face no calamity, and would never have grief, sorrow,
fear, or evil, if they surrender to Durga.

Those who remember You with great devotion indeed have prosperity. Undoubtedly, O Goddess of
the Gods, You protect those who remember You.

The Goddess Chamunda sits on a corpse, Varahi rides on a buffalo, Aindri is mounted on an elephant
and Vaishnavi on a condor.

Maheswari is riding on a bull, the vehicle of Kaumari is the peacock, Lakshmi, the Beloved of Shri
Vishnu, is seated in a lotus and is also holding a lotus in Her Hand.

The Goddess Ishwari, of white complexion, is riding on a bull and Brahmi, Who is bedecked with all
ornaments is seated on a swan.

40
All the mothers are endowed with Yoga and are adorned with different ornaments and jewels.

All the Goddesses are seen mounted in chariots and very angry. They are wielding conch, discus,
mace, plough, club, javelin, axe, noose, barbed dart, trident, bow and arrows. These Goddesses are
wielding their weapons for destroying the bodies of demons, for the protection of Their devotees and
for the benefit of the Gods.

Salutations to You, O Goddess, of very dreadful appearance, of frightening valour, of tremendous

strength and energy, the destroyer of the worst fears.

O Devi, it is difficult to have even a glance at You. You increase the fears of Your enemies, please
come to my rescue. May Goddess Aindri protect me from the east. Agni Devata (God- dess of Fire)
from the south-east, Varahi (Shakti of Vishnu in the form of the boar) from the south, Khadgadharini
(Wielder of the sword) from the south-west, Varuni (The Shakti of Varuna the rain God) from the west
and Mrgavahini, (Whose vehicle is the deer) may protect me from the north-west.

The Goddess Kaumari (The Shakti of Kumar, that is Karttikeya) protect me from the north and
Goddess Shooladharini from the north-east, Brahmani, (The Shakti of Brahma) from above and
Vaishnavi (Shakti of Vishnu) from below, protect me.

Thus Goddess Chamunda, Who sits on a corps, protects me from all the ten directions. May
Goddess Jaya protect me from the front and Vijaya from the rear; Ajita from the left and Aparajita from
the right. Goddess Dyotini may protect the top-knot and Uma may sit on my head and protect it.

May I be protected by Maladhari on the forehead, Yashswini on the eye-brows, Trinetra between the
eye-brows, Yamaghanta on the nose, Shankini on both the eyes, Dwaravasini on the ears, may
Kalika protect my cheeks and Shankari the roots of the ears.

May I be protected by Sugandha-nose, Charchika-lip, Amrtakala-lower lip, Saraswati-tongue,

Kaumari-teeth, Chandika-throat, Chitra-ghanta-sound box, Mahamaya-crown of the head, Kamakshi-
chin, Sarvamangala-speech, Bhadrakali-neck, Dhanurdhari-back. May Neelagreeva protect the outer
part of my throat and Nalakoobari-windpipe, may Khadgini protect my shoulders and Vajra-dharini
protect my arms.

May Devi Dandini protect both my hands, Ambika-fingers, Shooleshwari my nails and may Kuleshwari
protect my belly. May I be protected, by Mahadevi-breast, Shuladharini-abdomen, Lalita Devi-heart,
Kamini-navel, Guhyeshwari-hidden parts, Pootana-kamika-reproductive organs, Mahishavasini-
rectum.

May Goddess Bhagavati protect my waist, Vindhyavasini-knees and the wish-fulfilling Mahabala may
protect my hips.
May Narashini protect my ankles. May Taijasi protect my feet, may Shri protect my toes. May
Talavasini protect the sole of my feet.

May Danshtrakarali protect my nails, Urdhvakeshini-hair, Kauberi-pores, Vagishwari-skin.

May Goddess Parvati protect blood, marrow of the bones, fat and bone; Goddess Kalaratri-intestines.
Mukuteshwari-bile and liver.

May Padmavati protect the Chakras, Choodamani-phlegm (or lungs), Jwalamukhi lustre of the nails
and Abhedya-all the joints.

Brahmani-semen, Chhatreshwari the shadow of my body, Dharmadharini-ego, superego and intellect

(buddhi).

Vajrahasta-pran, apan, vyan, udan, saman (five vital breaths), Kalyanashobhana-pranas (life force).

41
May Yogini protect the sense organs, that is, the faculties of tasting, seeing, smelling, hearing and
touching. May Narayni protect satwa, raja and tamo gunas.

(KUNDALINI ENERGY RISING FROM MOTHER EARTH NEAR SHRI MATAJI S RESIDENCE
DURING A VISIT TO RUSSIA)

Varahi-the life, Vaishnavi-dharma, Lakshmi-success and fame, Chakrini-wealth and knowledge.

Indrani-relatives, Chandika-cattle, Mahalakshmi-children and Bhairavi-spouse.

Supatha may protect my journey and Kshemakari my way. Mahalakshmi may protect me in the king's
court and Vijaya everywhere.

O Goddess Jayanti, any place that has not been mentioned in the Kavach and has thus remained
unprotected, may be protected by you.

One should invariably cover oneself with this Kavacha (by reading) wherever one goes and should
not walk even a step without it if one desire auspiciousness. Then one is successful everywhere and
all one's desire are fulfilled and that person enjoys great prosperity on the earth.

The person who covers himself with Kavacha becomes fearless, is never defeated in the battle and
becomes worthy of being worshipped in the three worlds.

One who reads with faith every day thrice (morning, afternoon and evening), the 'Kavacha' of the
Devi, which is inaccessible even to the Gods, receives the Divine arts, is undefeated in the three
worlds, lives for a hundred years and is free from accidental death.

All disease, like boils, scars, etc. are finished. Moveable (scorpions and snakes) and immoveable
(other) poisons cannot affect him.

All those, who cast magical spells, by mantras or yantras, on other for evil purposes, all bhoots,
goblins, malevolent beings moving on the earth and in the sky, all those who mesmerise others, all
female goblins, all yakshas and gandharvas are destroyed just by the sight of the person having
Kavach in his heart.

That person receives more and more respect and prowess. On the earth he rises in prosperity and
fame by reading the Kavacha and Saptashati.

His progeny would live as long as the earth in rich with mountains and forests. By the grace of
Mahamaya, he would attain the highest place, that is inaccessible even to the Gods and is eternally
blissful in the company of Lord Shiva.

"So many powers Mother has to have to protect her children and to look after them. These powers are all
there, working relentlessly all the time-24 hours. So anybody who surrenders to Mother, these powers
express themselves and try to help you out of your problems. But first thing is surrendering. If you are
not surrendered, if you are not in the kingdom of God, then this is not the responsibility of the Mother.
Then it might be that some negative force might take over and destroy you"

So we have made it short now, just take a 'bandhan', it is the same thing as Kavacha you see. Realised
souls, if they take a bandhan is the same thing. Whatever you have said here is done, yesterday's and
today's, everything that has been said, all these Raksha Kari is done in one stroke.
