COLLISION REGULATIONS
ASSIGNMENT

2.5 ASSIGNMENT

ESSAY(10pts)

In your own words, what is the most important rule to remember in case of
emergency and why?

As we all know every rule presented in collision regulation is important, especially for
safety of life at sea. The most important rule for me among the rules is rule 5- lookout.
Rule 5 lookout states that at sea proper lookout must at all times be maintained among
all ships through sight and hearing or through any means necessary to examine the
needs for any emergency. Having to fully appraise the situation define what is needed
to be done in case of emergency or to avoid any unnecessary accidents. Most
accidents at sea are due to man made mistakes as machines rarely have defects. Rule
5 lookout helps prevent situations that may cause harm and danger to the vessel and
the officers it carries. From dusk till dawn seafarers must maintain watch-keeping to
have an advantage in unwanted conditions at sea. Seafarers will be able to send
signals or any mode of communication to the ship or anything near its surroundings to
get help needed. Paying attention to what may cause danger will be able to give the
benefit of prevention and appraisal of the condition given at sea. Collision and any
unwanted harm arer prevented through proper scouting and the advantage od
preparation is given to those whom had examined the situation in advance
