Last Friday night, Fatin was strolling in the night market near her neighbourhood when
she saw a little girl who was alone and crying. Fatin felt sorry for her and approached her. The
girl told her that she was lost and looking for her mother.

After comforting the little girl, Fatin took her to look for her mother in vain. Then, she
saw a seller with a loud speaker. She asked for a favour from the helpful seller to make an
announcement for the girl’s mother.

Soon after the announcement, a desperate looking woman rushed towards them. The little
girl ran to her and hugged her happily. The mother thanked Fatin from the bottom of her heart.
It was a meaningful day for Fatin because she had done a good deed.

Last weekend, Yakin and all the scouts gathered at the school hall. They listened to a
briefing by their Scoutmaster before visiting the Caring Old Folks’ Home. They looked forward
to the visit with great enthusiasm.

Once they reached, they worked in groups to carry out various tasks. Some of them
cleaned up the compound while some weeded the garden and painted the walls. Yakin and a few
others sang some melodious songs to entertain the residents of the old folks’ home.

Before they left, they helped their Scoutmaster deliver some goodies to the residents. It
was indeed a remarkable experience for each of them. Although they were tired, they were
happy that they were able to contribute.

there using his father’s four wheel drive at the crack of dawn. They took with them a tent, some

Once they arrived at their destination, they quickly pitched their tent. Later, they went for
a swim. After that, they made a campfire using firewood. The campfire kept them warm and
away from insects. That night, they slept like a log.

The next morning, after breakfast, they packed their things and cleared the rubbish at the
campsite before leaving. They knew it was important to preserve the pristine environment. It was
a great experience for them that helped them appreciate the beauty of nature.

Siew Li, the class monitor of Year 6 Elite was very enthusiastic about it and she urged
her classmates to put their best foot forward in order to win the competition. She assigned her
classmates to keep the cleanliness of the class while others decorated the class.

Finally, the headmaster announced the winner of the Best Class. Siew Li and her
classmates were very happy when their class was awarded the champion of the Best Class
competition. They received a trophy and a hamper as a reward. The headmaster complimented
them on their efforts.

Suddenly, someone pushed Wai Kwan out of the queue. He injured his elbow when it
knocked against a pillar. He saw the school bully, Roslan, laughing while his supporters cheered.
Roslan jumped the queue and took Wai Kwan’s position.

Jamil and Ganesh immediately told Roslan off for his action. Just when Roslan was about
to pick a fight, Mr Chong, the discipline teacher appeared. He had been watching them and had
caught them red handed. Roslan and his friends were given detention for misbehaving. Wai
Kwan was happy that the bullies got what they deserved.

was eating alone at the canteen, a group of boys approached and tried to befriend him. They were
naughty boys who had been blacklisted by the school.

Voon Min did not know about that and he eagerly became friends with them. One day, he
saw them trying to extort money from other pupils during recess. He was shocked and decided to
stay away from them because he felt it was better to be alone than in bad company.

The next day, the whole group was caught red-handed by the discipline teacher and was
suspended from school for a week. Voon Min was glad he made the right decision to stay away
from them.

to sacrifice the time he spent playing computer games. With all his hard work, Heng Yong was
certain that success was in the bag.
Heng Yong passed with flying colours. His parents were very proud of him. They told
him that they were glad that he did not throw in the towel despite getting poorer results earlier.
Heng Yong realised that with some hard work, he could overcome any obstacle because when
there’s a will, there’s a way.

her poetry recitation. On the day of the competition, she had butterflies in her stomach.
Thankfully, she was able to recite the poem beautifully and her performance mesmerised the
audience.

As soon as she had finished her recitation, the audience started clapping and cheering. She
could see the judges smiling and nodding their heads. Finally, she won the competition. She was
happy as she knew that her hard work had paid off.

speaking for the interschool’s competition.

During the prize-giving ceremony in his school, Ram was announced the ‘Best Student of

rounded achiever. He was good in both his studies and extracurricular activities. Ravi realized
how true the saying all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

The next morning, he overslept and had to rush to the bus stop. Unfortunately, he missed
the bus and had to walk to school. When he reached the school, the first paper was over and his

turned over a new leaf and started to focus on his studies again.

play. One day, he brought the smart phone to school. While the teacher was teaching, he secretly
played his mobile games. He did not pay attention to the lesson at all.

Unaware that Mrs. Pushpa had stopped the lesson, Kevin did not realize when she quietly
came to stand behind him. He was caught red-handed with his smart phone under the table. Mrs.
Pushpa scolded him and confiscated his smart phone.

Mrs. Pushpa took him to see the discipline teacher. He was given a stern warning and his
name was listed in the disciplinary record book. He promised not to bring the smart phone to
school anymore. He had learnt that he must obey school rules.

played games online. After awhile, Alia was thirsty so she asked Arif to get her some water. Arif
was so engrossed with his game that he completely ignored his sister.

Alia decided to get the water herself. She climbed on to a chair to reach for a glass.
Suddenly, Arif heard a loud thud. He rushed to the kitchen to find his sister crying loudly with
broken glass on the floor. Just then, their parents arrived home. They were upset but thankful that
Alia was not hurt. Arif felt remorseful and apologized for his failure to keep his word.

Stamp Collection

Jasmine loves to collect stamps. Initially, she only collected used local stamps from her
friends. Her passion for collecting stamps started when she saw a stamp of a bright colorful
parrot on a discarded envelope.

Jasmine’s collection also contains stamps that are collector’s items. These were given to
her by her uncle who is also an avid collector of stamps. So she has stamps from local and
foreign countries which she keeps in separate books. Whenever her friends or relatives receive
envelopes with stamps, they will give them to her.

Jasmine hopes to increase her collection. She has also discovered that it is possible to
trade stamps with other collectors online. She cannot wait to start doing that once her final
examination is over.

Keeping Pets

Victor’s favourite pastime is playing with his two russet coloured hamsters. He received
them from Aunt Grace on his birthday. He named them Mickey and Minnie.

Every day, the first thing Victor would do after coming home from school was to check
on them. When he is free, he would take them out to play on the sofa. Sometimes, Mickey
scurries under the sofa. Victor would have to spend the whole night searching for him. Usually,
he has to use food to lure Mickey out.

Victor enjoys having these two adorable hamsters so much that he requests his mother to
buy him another pair. However, she was adamant about not having any more pets in the house.
So Victor has to be contented with only two hamsters.

During recess time, Suresh was playing with a ball with his classmate in the Science
Garden ignoring the signboard that said “No Running”. When he was jumping to catch the ball,
he lost his balance and fell.

Trying to brace himself, he scrapped both his palms and his arms. The pain was so bad
that he cried. His classmate, Haris, who was playing with him immediately hurried to inform his
class teacher. Some of his friends came to lend a hand too.

The class teacher, Puan Aini, rushed to the scene to help him. She took him to the clinic
to apply medicine. She advised him to be careful in the future because ‘prevention is better than
cure’. Suresh had learned his lesson and promised not to do it again.

When the doctor said that it would take some time for my leg to heal, I knew that I was going to

I kept myself entertained by watching television and reading comics. I was waited on hand and
foot by my mother. However, I was bored to tears after a week and began to grumble about
everything.

I recovered enough after two weeks to walk with the help of crutches. I had learnt a
lesson and promised myself to be more careful in future.

Last Thursday evening, Yan Hao and Jun Hoo were cycling to the library. They cycled
carefully in the cycling lane. Suddenly, they heard a loud sound. They looked around and saw an
accident between a motorcycle and a van.

They rushed to the scene. Within a second, people started to gather at the scene. The
motorcyclist was lying on the ground motionless. The van driver was unhurt. Without any delay,
Yan Hao took out his mobile phone and called an ambulance.

Few minutes later, an ambulance arrived. They rushed the motorcyclists to the nearby
hospital. Meanwhile, two policemen also arrived at the scene. Jun Hao told them what had
happened. The policemen then thanked Jun Hao and Yan Hao for their cooperation.

Last weekend, Elina and friends visited Wani who was warded in the hospital. They
brought along a basket of fresh fruits and a big ‘Get Well Soon’ card made by the class especially
for her.

Wani told them about the incident that happened at the playground. She was swinging on
the monkey bars when someone accidentally knocked into her and she fell to the ground. She
dislocated her shoulder and sprained her ankle. She had to stay in the hospital for a week.

Elina read out the various messages of support written by her classmate on the giant
handmade card. Wani was touched by their concern and thoughtfulness. She thanked them for
their kindness before bidding goodbye to them.

Last holiday, Farid’s father took them to Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah, also known

On the first day, they ventured out to see many interesting places. Their first destination
was the Kinabalu Park. They were amazed to see the breathtaking view and variety of flora and
fauna there. Then, they proceeded to Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain in Malaysia. They
did not climb all the way to the top but reached high enough to enjoy the beautiful landscape.

Their last destination was Tanjung Aru Beach where they got to enjoy the greatest sunset
on earth. It was truly an awesome trip for Farid and his family. They hoped to come back to Kota
Kinabalu for their next holiday.

During the last school vacation, Thomas, Arif and I went fishing at the lake near my
house. We brought along our fishing rods, baits and drinks. Soon, we found a shady spot, threw
our lines into the water and waited patiently. Two hours later, there was still no sign of any fish.

Suddenly, Thomas felt a tug at his line. The fish was strong and big so we had to help him
pull it in. We pulled so hard that the line snapped and we all fell backwards in a heap.

The fish had escaped. Just then, it threatened to rain so we packed our things and decided
to return home. Thomas was very disappointed he lost his catch but Arif and I told him we would
have better luck the next time around.

Last Friday night, Fatimah was alone at home as her parents were away for an open house
dinner. She was watching her favourite programme, ‘Ghosthunters’, in the living room.

Suddenly, there was a blackout and it was pitch-black everywhere. For a moment,
Fatimah was very afraid. Slowly she got up from sofa to look for a flashlight. Thankfully, she
remembered where her mother kept it. As she turned on the flashlight, she heard a sound from the
kitchen.

She froze in fear and suspected that a thief had broken into her house. She gathered her
courage and decided to investigate. She shone the flashlight around the kitchen. To her relief, it
was only the neighbour’s cat looking for food. Just then, the light came back on. She laughed at
her own suspicious attitude.

Last Sunday, Ai Ling followed her mother to the grocery. The road was very congested.
Ai Ling saw a man standing alone. She found out that the man had difficulty to cross the road.

Feeling curious, Ai Ling went to the man. She saw the man wore a pair of black
spectacles and he holding a walking stick. Ai Ling realized that the man was blind. Ai Ling then
helped the man to cross the road.

The man thanked Ai Ling for her help. Using his walking stick, he slowly plodded to his
destination. Ai Ling’s mother praised him. Ai Ling was proud of herself.

It was sunny afternoon. Hong Li was walking home from tuition. He was very hungry.

He then went to a stall at the roadside. The stall was dirty. Hong Li bought some food and
drinks.

After that, he went back home. That night, Hong Li couldn’t sleep. He had stomachache
and he had vomited many times. His mother brought him to the clinic. The doctor examined him
and told his mother that Hong Li had food poisoning. Hong Li told them what he did that
afternoon. The doctor then advised him to be careful whenever he wanted to ear outside.

Last Wednesday, Raymond went to the canteen. Suddenly, he saw a group of boys were
surrounding his friend, Kamal . He knew that the boys were bullying Kamal as Kamal is not as
normal as others. Kamal needs to depend on his wheelchair to move around.

Raymond quickly went to the staffroom. He informed Mr. Lim what was happening.
Mr.Lim quickly rushed to the scene. He shouted at the boys and they were startled. Mr. Lim
scolded the boys and told them to apologise to Kamal. The boys were ashamed of themselves and
promised they won’t repeat their mistakes again. Kamal forgave them and he thanked Raymond
for his help.
