THE LEGEND OF PRAMBANAN TEMPLE (THE THOUSAND TEMPLE)

RORO JONGGRANG

STAGE 1

Once upon a time in ancient times in Prambanan, Central Java, stood two
Hindu kingdoms namely the Pengging Kingdom and the Boko Palace. The
Pengging Kingdom was led by a wise king, Prabu Damar Moyo. And has a son
named Raden Bandung Bondowoso. The Boko Palace was in the territory of
the Pengging kingdom ruled by an intangible human king, Prabu Boko who
had a beautiful princess named princess Roro Jonggrang. Keraton Boko has a
giant Patih, Patih Gupolo. Prabu Boko wanted to rule the Pengging Kingdom,
so he and Patih Gupolo gathered strength and gathered provisions to colonize
Pengging.
WARGA MELAKUKAN AKTIFITAS (BS. GAMELAN DAN NARASI)
Raja Baka dan Prajurit 2 memasuki panggung (mereka membunuh penari dan
warga, sedangkan satu warga bersembunyi menyaksikan kejadian dengan
ketakutan.
King Baka : "Hahaha... I am the strongest ruler, the greatest King in this land."
The soldiers exit the stage, Roro Jonggrang enter the stage
King Baka : "Let's go home my daughter, Roro Jonggrang. I've killed some of the
residents here."
Jonggrang : “Sure, Father.” (King Baka and Roro exit the stage)
Prabu baka, roro jongrang dan prajurit keluar frame
Ganden/w2 : "I have to report this incident to Baginda King Pengging."

STAGE 2

in frame (Senopati, Srikandi, Basir)

NARASI: Moreover in the Pengging kingdom, the king of Pengging Prabu Damar
Maya had a wonderful life with his son named Bandung Bondowoso and his
society. All of the people were very happy lived there.
Srikandi : “Cikrak, come here!”
Cikrak : Cikrak came over saying "Yes, My Empress. How may I help
 you?"
Srikandi : "Make us warm tea."
Cikrak : “Sure, My Empress.” Cikrak out the stage
Ganden : (Screaming)
“My Majesty! My Majesty!”
Selopati : “What’s wrong, Ganden?”
Ganden/w2 : "Emm, My King... Eeee... The villagers of Pengging Kingdom
were persecuted by Prabu Baka and his soldiers."
Selopati : "What? Rude! How dare he persecute my people!"
Ganden/w2 : "Please protect us, King."
Selopati : "Well, take it easy. I will attack the Kingdom of Prambanan."
"Patih, please summon Prince Bondowoso!"
Basyir : “Now, Sir?”
Selopati : "Next year after Eid! Yes, now! Hurry up and work on it!"
(While carrying drinks)
Cikrak : "This is the drink, My King."
Bondowoso : "Your Majesty, what's the matter of calling me?"
Selopati : "Bondowoso! Prepare your soldiers to go attack Prambanan."
Bondowoso : "Okay, Your Majesty. I carried out your orders immediately."
Selopati : "Then please set off. Be careful! If you need help, type REG
space PLEASE send it to 1000."
All were silent and intertwined and said "yes, Your Majesty" together

STAGE 3

The next day, Bandung Bondowoso and his soldiers departed in

Prambanan. They are ready to attack and defeat King Baka Kingdom.

Bondowoso : "Hey, Prabu Baka! Come out! Let's fight. We show who is the
strongest among us."
King Baka : "Who are you, how dare to challenge me!"
Bondowoso : "I am Bondowoso the son of King Pengging."
King Baka : "If you dare, come forward!."
Bondowoso : "Okay. Pengging Warrior, Attack!”
(Pertarungan sengit tak terhindarkan. Raja Baka terbunuh oleh senjata sakti
Bandowoso bernama 'Bandung')
Bondowoso : "Hahaha... You finally lost, Prabu Baka."
(Looking at the Patih)
Bondowoso : "Patih, are you okay? Patih! Patih!"
Basyir : "I'm okay, Prince. I overslept, really tired"
ADEGAN BONDO WOSO MEMBANTU BASIR BERDIRI LALU PERGI, DI IKUTI
OLEH PEMAIN LAIN (OUT FRAME)
NARASI: The king of Boko Palace was killed at the hands of Bandung
Bondowoso. On the other hand, Roro Jongrang was worried about his
father's condition.

STAGE 4 (in frame: roro, 2 dayang, sadur)

Jonggrang : "Dayang, how is my father?"

Dayang 2 : “Be patient, princess”
Sadur : "Emm... He..." (speechless)
Jonggrang : "What happened to my father? Say it, Patih!"
Sadur : "Prabu Baka died in the war against Prince Bondowoso of the
Pengging Kingdom."
Jonggrang : "No! It's impossible!"

Pembacaan narasi di ikuti dengan adegan ketakutan roro dan para dayang, dan
bandung serta basir dating.
NARASI: In the middle of a conversation between Roro Jongrang and
Dayang, suddenly a young man named Bandung Bondowoso arrived at the
Boko Palace. Arriving at Boko's palace, he was surprised to see the beautiful
princess.
Bondowoso : "Hey, it turns out that there are still people in here."
Jonggrang : “Who are you?”
Sadur : “He is Bondowoso.”
Bondowoso : "You turned out to be so beautiful. Oh, Princess Roro Jonggrang!
Are you willing to be my consort?."
Jonggrang : "You are really cruel Bondowoso!" (bondowoso laughs)
Dayang 1 : "Princess, you must give him a condition for him to fail to meet
 that condition."
Dayang 2 : “Yes, that’s right, Princess”
Bondowoso : (Coming over to Roro Jonggrang)
"How about it, do you want to marry me?"
Jonggrang : "Alright, Bandung Bondowoso! I am willing to accept your
proposal, but you must meet my one condition."
Bondowoso : "What are your conditions, Roro Jonggrang?"
Jonggrang : "The condition is that you have to make me 1000 temples and 2
wells. And that you have to finish to the limit of the rising of the
sun."
ADEGAN, BANDUNG BONDOWOSO MEMANGGIL JIN
After hearing Roro Jonggrang's wish, Bandung then headed to the haunted
forest in the kingdom to summon a genie to help him build a thousand
temples.
(The jinns also worked on making temples and bondowoso did semedi)
Jonggrang : "Dayang! The construction of 1000 temples and the excavation of
2 wells are almost complete. What should we do?"
Dayang 1 : "Calm down, princess! There must be a way out."
Jonggrang : "Dayang, wake up your friends immediately! Have them burn
straw and pound rice in mortars, and sprinkle flowers that smell
good!"
Dayang 2 : "Sure, princess!"

(Roro Jonggrang keluar, 2 dayang masuk membawa tumbuk

dengan backsound ayam berkokok)

In the middle of the manipulation by Roro Jonggrang and the maids, the
genies were scared and just left Bandung Bondowoso.
Jonggrang : "How about it, Bandung Bondowoso? Is my temple finished?"
(With a smile)
Bondowoso : "Cunning! O, Roro Jonggrang! You have thwarted my efforts to
realize 1000 temples that are one less than one more with your
cunning. Be you a statue in the thousandth temple!"
CLOSING DANCE AROUND RORO JONGGRANG

Finally Roro Jonggrang became a statue to complete the 1000th temple. Until
now these temples still exist and are in the Prambanan area, Central Java.

We realize that our performance is far from perfect, but we hope that we can all
