Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (HEV): History and introduction to electric Vehicles with modern
applications, Electric vehicle system analysis, Power flow and power management strategies in
HEV, Vehicle to grid and grid to vehicle analysis, Electric vehicle dynamics, Modeling and
testing, Automatic transmission designs and characteristics, Electric vehicle control for energy
efficiency.
Power Electronics in Hybrid Electric Vehicles: Rectifiers, Buck convertor, Voltage source
inverter, Current source inverter, DC-DC convertor.
Energy Storages: Battery characterization, modeling and designs, Battery sizing for various
vehicle applications, Battery monitoring and charging control, Combination of batteries and
ultra-capacitors, Charging station design for electric vehicles.
Fuel cells: principles of operation, design, modeling, Fuel cell storage system, Strategy for
controlling hybrid fuel cell system, Flywheel energy storage characterization, Hydraulic
accumulator characterization.
Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV): PHEV configurations, Component sizing, Power
management system and problems analysis.
Electric Unmanned Ground Vehicle: Computer Modeling and performance analysis.
Autonomous wheel power management for vehicle dynamics control, UGV tests.
