Hello ladies and gentlemen, goodmorning to you all.

Welcome to the opening ceremony of the 20 day patrol officers basic course.

I would like to thank you for the initiative in participating in this course, for this course gives you an
advantage as it is designed to educate you on leadership and decision-making skills that is vital in the
field.

As officers, it is our duty and mandate to serve and protect the public. This we can do so not just by
physically immersing ourselves to police work in our respective jurisdictions but also, by learning how to
become leaders and rolemodels for our beloved juniors to follow.

For lots can be gained by great leadership, it can accomplish the service excellence, efficiency and most
of all integrity. By great leadership, we can deliver improvements amongst ourselves and effect a smooth
flow in our daily service to the people.

For being a police officer is not limited to enforcing the law, it is also our task to make ourselves as
individuals that are both reliable and competent. For excellence does not only commend you, it also
serves as an aura that influences the people around you.

To you participants, the challenge is to make the most of it, learn everything that this course offers you,
for one day you will be leading your own team and when that day comes, do lead so by example.
