The relationship between our values and our actions

When someone has a set value system (things they believe to be right, wrong
etc) These things will be present in their actions (the way they behave, the
things they do, the way they react to things, the people they hang out with). Our
values influence the way we behave, it shows what kind of person we are. Our
values influence our actions.
For example: Some people believe that smoking is right, and their actions
reflect that. While others may believe that smoking is wrong and their actions
reflect that they don’t like the thought of smoking.

2. In Aristotelian ethics addiction would not be condoned in his philosophy

because moderation is key when it comes to Aristotelian ethics too much of
something is never good. And the good life avoids the extremes of excessive
repression and excessive indulgence. Virtue is the mean or middle course
between two vices

3. Platonism believes that good is knowledge and bad is from lack of knowledge
while Ethical Relativism believes that good and bad is different from person to
person or from one society to other

4. Virtue ethics focuses on the character of the person while consequentialist

ethics are based on rules to help us make the right decisions, they focus on the
consequences of our actions.

5. Predestination and indifference are similar because Predestination in stoicism

is the belief that everything is already predestined by god (Zeus) ; surrendering
to this fact will stop frustration etc and indifference like predestination has
surrender to the fact that everything you do is pointless because it has already
been decided. For example: getting frustrated about something is useless.

outlining the main features of ONE (1) of the following theories as it relates to
ethics and morality.
Immanuel Kant is the philosopher behind Kantian Ethics. In Kantian Ethics it focuses
mainly on the moral law/ the categorical imperative, the sense of duty, reason and
motives. In Kantian ethics it is believed that what is right to do, is someone's duty and
someone's duty is to follow moral law or the categorical imperative. Morality is
fighting against our feelings and urges to do our duty, that is to abide by the moral law
in everything we do. The deontology ethics is focused on action.Whether the action is
right or wrong rather than consequences.

9. Using utilitarianism as your moral guide outline and give reasons for the order
in which you would offer assistance to the three persons.

According to Utilitarianism the persons who are valuable to society should be

the ones to be saved.
In this scenario the Husband would be the person the doctor would first save,
because he will become a dad and as a dad he has a major role to play in his
child's life but also society as a worker. After he helps the husband then he
would go save the wife and the baby. He would leave the elderly man to die
because according to utilitarianism the elderly man would not be valuable to
society.
Order:
1.The Husband
2.The wife and baby
3. Elderly man

my friend into the house so that she can find him, because it is following the
moral law. right to tell her she is inside although my feelings may want me to

forbidden because if it had become universal there would be no such thing as
trust.
11. Answer the following questions:
With regard to the question Should Heinz steal the drug?

I believe the stoic would tell him not to steal the drug and that he must accept the
concept of his wife's death.

b) Explain why a utilitarian might advise Heinz to steal the drug

A Utilitarian might advice Heinz to steal the drug because saving his wife will
bring him great pleasure, it will also give pleasure to the majority of people.

c) Why would a Kantian ethicist advise Heinz not to steal the drug?
Because if he steals the drug he would be going against the moral law and in
Kantian ethics going against the moral law is wrong.

d) State and explain the advice given by a situation ethicist.

A situation ethicist would advice Heinz to steal the drug because he is doing it
out of love, situation ethicists believe that love can justify anything.

The druggist subscribes to the Kantian ethics because he would believe that
what the husband intends to do (steal the drug) is morally wrong, it’s against
