Read the below scenario and answer the following questions.

Eshan, a close friend of your father is a brilliant wood craftsman and has just retired as the Production
manager of a leading manufacturing organization. He plans to commence his own business and is in the
process of developing a business plan for his new venture. As a business management student you have
studied the importance of formulating a mission for an organization and hence have requested Eshan to
describe what business he is going to be in. Accordingly Eshan responded that he plans his mission
statement to be “producing and marketing wooden chairs”.

a) Analyze the appropriateness or otherwise of Eshan’s mission statement for his new business
venture.
