Practice: Create facing and contour toolpaths.

• Create a 2D Face toolpath.

• Create a 2D Contour toolpath.
• Simulate toolpaths.

1. Upload and open the supplied dataset

Fixture Plate.f3d.

2. Navigate to the Manufacture workspace and

ensure that Setup2 is activated in the
Browser.

3. Create a 2D > Face toolpath. For the tool

selection, navigate to the Fusion 360 Library
> Filter type to Face Mill, and select the 2”
Face Mill.

NOTE: Because face mill automatically uses the

stock definition, you can select a tool and OK the
operation or optionally modify its parameters.

4. Create a 2D > 2D Contour toolpath. For the
tool, in the Fusion 360 Library, filter by Flat
Endmills > ½” Flat Endmill with the
Aluminum – Roughing profile. For the
Geometry > Contour Selection, click the base
of the part as shown and enable Stock
Contours.

5. Configure this 2D Contour toolpath by

enabling Multiple Depths in the Passes tab
with a Maximum Roughing Stepdown of
0.25in. Adjust the Linking > Safe Distance to
be 0.2in.

6. Create another 2D > 2D Contour around the

small recess using the same tool. Due to the
simple geometry, no additional settings
need to be changed.

7. Simulate the toolpaths for verification.

8. Save the design.
