Practice: Create facing and contour toolpaths.

• Create a facing toolpath.

• Create a contour toolpath.
• Simulate toolpaths.

1. Upload and open the file “Fixture Plate – PE”.

2. Navigate to the Manufacture Workspace and

note the file contains a setup.

 3. Create a 2D > Face toolpath using the 2in face
mill tool from the sample’s library.

NOTE: Because face mill automatically uses the stock

definition you can select a tool and OK the operation or
you can modify it’s parameters.

4. Create a 2D Contour toolpath around the base

of the part with a ½” flat endmill. Explore using
Roughing Passes and Multiple Depths from the
“Passes” tab.

 5. Create a 2D Contour around the small recess
using the same tool, but without any roughing
or multiple stepdown settings.

6. Simulate the toolpaths for verification.

7. Save the file.
