The document provides instructions for modifying a 3D design file to add 2 degrees of draft to all vertical walls. The steps include editing extrude features to add positive or negative 2 degree tapers, modifying holes to add 2 degrees of draft from the top face plane to the inside diameters, and inspecting the design to confirm all vertical faces have draft between -1.5 and 1.5 degrees.

Practice: Modify a design so it had 2degrees of draft on all vertical walls.
• Modify features to include tapered walls.
• Analyze features with rebuild warnings. • Use Draft. • Inspect a design for appropriate draft.
1. Upload and open the supplied file “Plastic
Housing – PE.f3d”.
2. Roll the timeline marker back to the first
extrude feature.
3. Edit the first extrude feature and add a 2
degree taper angle.
Lesson: Practice 1 Page | 1
4. Roll the timeline marker to the next extrude feature.
NOTE: It isn’t required that you roll the timeline marker
back to edit a feature, but it helps properly diagnose issues that may arise.
5. Edit the extrude feature and set the taper angle
value to -2.
6. Roll the timeline forward and modify the next
extrude feature and change the taper angle to 2.

7. Roll the timeline forward and modify the next extrude feature with -2 degrees of taper angle.
8. If the hole feature has a warning, edit it and
reselect the sketch points used to create it.
NOTE: This feature does not have taper as an
available option.
9. Add draft to the 5 holes using Modify > Draft.
Select the upper face of the lid as the plane and the inside diameters of all 5 holes for the faces. Add 2 degrees and OK.

10. Inspect the draft with Inspect > Draft Analysis. Set the draft angle values from -1.5 to positive 1.5 to ensure all vertical faces now are green or red depending on their pull direction. Save the file.
