Conclusion of AI Applications in APAC

Overall, APAC is in an early stage in terms of use of AI in food processing

applications. Although companies have adopted AI in the region, the
applications are still in a nascent stage and the numbers are limited.

China and Japan are more aggressive as front-runners in APAC in adopting

new AI applications in food processing, especially in the food safety area,
whereas Singapore demonstrates great enthusiasm with regard to the
application of AI in the food industry.

There are a growing number of new entrants in the food processing market. A
large number of start-ups are striving to innovate AI applications to cater to
specific fields, with many of these forming partnerships or collaborating with
established companies.

Practical application of AI technology, combined with cost, performance, and

food manufacturer acceptance, continues to pose challenges in the wider
adoption of AI across the region. Moreover, the lack of highly skilled data
science personnel and AI domain experts hinders adoption.

However, it is expected that AI technologies will soon be increasingly used by

food companies in APAC to improve feedstock sorting, find efficiencies,
increase safety, and boost product development.
