CISCO SYSTEMS, INC., San Jose, CA, Aug 2005 – Sep 2019
Senior Engineer, Cloud Architecture and Storage Design
 Scrum Master; lead a team of developers working on Cloud Automation.
 Designed and developed a Docker based development system automated by Ansible for Python
developers.
 Backend Python developer for OpenStack and OpenStack orchestration software.
 Developed automation in to upgrade OpenStack clouds twice: Havana to Icehouse; then Icehouse to Juno
with no customer impact as intended.
 Designed and developed a Python based interface between OpenStack Rabbitmq and Cisco Orchestration
software, using Kafka.
 Worked with FalconStor on virtualization and real time data protection.
 Implemented RBAC controls and LDAP using OpenStack Keystone V3.
 Designed and implemented Ceph storage as the backing store for OpenStack.
 Implemented Ceph Object Storage as a stand-alone service using Rados Federated Gateway.
 Designed a disk-based backup appliance using Cisco hardware and Netbackup software for internal use.
 Used EMC RecoverPoint to migrate large Oracle databases from San Jose to Richardson Texas, shaving
weeks off the new datacenter migration timeline.
 Designed and then implemented Avamar disk-based backup system for remote engineering locations
worldwide. Replaced a labor-intensive tape-based system, resulting in much improved service.
 Worked with internal audit, accounting, legal, and various IT functions to overhaul data protection
retention processes.
 Worked with SOX auditors to remediate findings with Cisco data protection systems.

Infrastructure Architect, IT Process controls evangelist for Legato IT.
 Designed several SAN deployments with a Symmetric and backup capabilities for IT and Engineering.
 Led a team to consolidate Legato NIS environments into the EMC domain.
 Worked with EMC management to merge Legato IT processes into EMC IT Processes.

Managed a team of engineers, establishing processes and direction for the UNIX Projects team at Legato IT.
 Turned a badly performing team into a world class IT team by implementing agile process
controls for direct team communications engaging customers in the change management process resulting
in happy customers, rescinded blackout windows, and a request from the CIO to be the process evangelist
for IT.
 Developed the Legato IT Change Management process and Quality process.
 Worked with Information Security Manager to develop the Legato IT security policy.
