Dear Secretary Mayorkas:

The Committee on the Judiciary is pleased to confirm your testimony at a hearing titled,
“Oversight of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security” on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at
10:00 a.m., in 2141 Rayburn House Office Building.

The hearing will examine Department of Homeland Security programs and policies and
the Department’s implementation of those programs and policies. We look forward to your
prepared testimony and your answers to the question posed by Members. In particular, to ensure
that the Committee may effectively pursue its oversight of the Department’s immigration-related
authorities, we ask that you please be ready to discuss in detail the Administration’s immigration
policies and programs, including but not limited to:

• All policies and data related to Customs and Border Protection encounters,
gotaways, paroles, and releases at the southwest border since January 20, 2021;
• All policies and data regarding Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrests,
removals, releases, and detention since January 20, 2021; and
• All policies and data regarding the Department’s adjudication of immigration
benefits since January 20, 2021.

Committee Members will also likely raise matters concerning the Department’s censorship
efforts, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency, the Disinformation Governance Board, and
related matters. We ask that you be fully prepared to discuss in detail these topics as well.

before the Committee. Please note the procedures for submitting written testimony at least two

Governmental Witnesses

1. Witnesses should provide their testimony via e-mail to Kiley Bidelman,


Chief Clerk, at Kiley.Bidelman@mail.house.gov, no later than 10:00 a.m.
two business days prior to the hearing.

2. Witnesses should also provide a short biographical summary and include it with
the electronic copy of testimony provided to the Chief Clerk.

3. At the hearing, each witness will be asked to summarize his or her written
testimony in five minutes or less in order to maximize the time available for
discussion and questions. Full written testimony will be entered into the
hearing record and may extend to any reasonable length.

4. Written testimony will be made publicly available and will be posted on the
Committee’s website and the U.S. House of Representatives Document
Repository.

5. Witnesses with disabilities should contact Committee staff to arrange any


necessary accommodations.
