Sir Richard Branson has proved to be a strong and successful leader. He has built his company
into a global empire that brings in over $20 billion a year. Although he has made some very
public business mistakes, his successes have far outweighed his business failures. One of his
many successes has been creating a company where employees at all levels feel valued within
the company. He has eliminated the need for unions by providing for his employees and keeping
them happy. This has also enabled him to successfully promote from within and build the
business leaders he needs to run a globally successful company. Branson’s methods and
philosophies have been widely criticized because they are quite different from many of his
counterparts. However, it cannot be disputed that Branson has built a highly successful business.
Although he runs things differently than many others, he clearly demonstrates that different can
produce great results.

4. Competition
Researching competition has never been the Richard branson way. Many of his products and
services come about because he pay attention to what the market is missing or what’s not being
done well. The commitment is about doing things differently. His strategy has been to screw
business as usual to what look at what it is our customers wants, and what is the industry needs,
and to go in and exceed their expectation, and he has been successful not by wasting time
scrutinizing his competitor but by looking at himself from the point of view of his customers do
and seeking feedback through listening.
5. Leadership
Sir Richard Branson isn't just an authority on entrepreneurialism; he knows a thing or two about
leadership skills as well. He has been a well-respected employer - someone who has created
thousands of jobs for talented people around the world. He is known for his rule-breaking
approach to leadership, one which encourages every employee to become an innovative thinker,
who can add value in their own way. Richard branson is an individual who prides himself on
working with team that shares the same core values he does. Recognizing value of his employees
and being genuinely interested in them are two qualities he has.
Listening is the one of the most important skills that anyone can have
Learning and leadership go together
Number one rule in business, and in life is to enjoy what do you do
6. Authenticity
He is responsive to people’s needs and values. He is transparent, morally grounded and eager to
receive comments from others. He involves others in his work and of consults. He builds
relationships. He leads by example, He’s said to behave with integrity and he looks for what’s
going right (as opposite to what’s going wrong). He’s inspiring and courage’s. He leads
organization which are enabling rather than disabling.
7. Adventure
1983 – He got bumped off a flight to the BVI, so he decided to character a jet and sell
tickets under the name virgin airways.
skills have allowed him to succeed and also pick himself up after failures. We have learnt that a
leader should not only depend on technical skills but also be flexible and be adaptable to today's
dynamic world which is ever changing. The ability to grab opportunities once it arises is
important because in the business industry, there's a high level of competitiveness, if a leader
were to oversee such a chance; they face the potential of losing millions. if one of the customers
has a bad experience on Virgin trains, they might have different views for the rest of the Virgin
brands. Majority of customers know that each of the Virgin business units are managed different
and are vastly diversified into different products and services. Therefore each of the business
units will have their own strategic plans according to their target market and hopefully this
should convince the customers to continue to use their products and services. The important
issues arise in the future when it's time for Branson to move away from Virgin, this could mean
the end of the Virgin Group. To solve this potential problem, new management, marketing and
promotional styles can be used that are not related to Branson's techniques and see whether these
are successful. Therefore, Virgin is a successful company that applies their own strategies
according to their target market under the direction of Richard Branson. Virgin are able to
diversify into new markets mainly through joint ventures, thus able to increase their market
shares in respective markets. However, the question arises when it's time for Richard Branson to
Part Company with the Virgin Group, how will they cope and whether they can maintain a
