Operation Barbarossa
Operation Barbarossa was the code name for the Axis invasion of the Soviet Union, which started
on Sunday, 22 June 1941, during World War II. The operation put into action Nazi Germany's
ideological goal of conquering the western Soviet Union so as to repopulate it with Germans.
The same year, Allied troops landed in Italy and deposed Mussolini.
The Allies counteroffensive began with the landing of troops in Normandy in June 9944 which led
to the liberation of France. Germany could not hold back the advance of the allies and Germany
surrender after Hitler committed suicide.
The use of the Atomic bombs on the city of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945, Thousands of
citizens died in seconds which led to the surrender of The Japan Empire.
