Grammar I

 Present simple –
o Facts: Water boils at 100 degree Celsius.
o Habits and repeated actions that happen routinely, often every day etc.: I drink a cup of
coffee every morning. My sister brushes her teeth three times a day. His colleague goes
to the gym three times per week.
 Common time expression used with simple present tense are: always, Often,
sometimes, never--------- every week, every day, every month (note that the
time word is in singular form). Day not days, week not weeks
o Truths (or generally truth): Whales live in the ocean. A cat has four legs.
o permanent situations
o For he and she you need to add –s to infinitive form
o Use “do” and “does” for making questions and “do not” and “does not” for making
negative forms.
 Present continues –
o Now when we're talking about activities, temporary situations, and things that are
happening now – at the time of speaking-or around now – we use am, is or are plus an
i-n-g verb to make the present continuous. Refer to this moment of her life.
o We can also use the present continuous for future arrangements: What are you doing
tonight? I am living in the eastern part of France.
