GRADING CRITERIA

PARTICIPATION

Did you actively participate in class while learning, planning and synchronizing the routine? Did
you work productively and cooperatively? Did you display a positive and supportive attitude ?

KNOWLEDGE

Do you know the moves of each count in the routine? Did everyone in your group know the
moves to each count? Did you look and feel confident while participating? Are you having fun?
Were you prepared? Is it evident that you practiced? Did you execute your skills? Do you
KNOW the material (were you copying others? Were you following the routine order?)

CHOREOGRAPHY

Did you include each jumping skill? Did you include some rope skills? Did you create and hold
your ending pose?If in a group, did you create a peel (ripple) or pick-up, 2 formation changes,
different levels (high/medium/low) and a solid ending? Did you hold your ending for 3 seconds?

SYNCHRONIZATION

Are you able to keep a steady rhythm with the rope/jump. If in a group, Is each skill and timing
in synch with the other group members? Are your skills clear and defined?

SHOWMANSHIP

How well did you perform the routine with enthusiasm and confidence (making eye contact,
facial expressions,etc.)? Are you a good performer? Do you inspire others to want to see more?
JUMP ROPE ROUTINE EXPECTATIONS
1. Choose Groups (1-10 people per group)

2. You will perform a live jump rope routine as a group or solo(no videos). The
routine must be a minimum of 2 minutes.

Options:

● choreograph your own routine, following the grading criteria expectations.


● copy a routine from another source / youtube, etc.
● You may take breaks with a rope swing in between every other skill.

3. Choreography must include each skill below:

If skills are too difficult, ask for a modification.

● Basic Jump (Double feet jump rope)


● Single foot jump (hop) (one for each leg)
● Alternate single leg jump (boxer’s step/jogging)
● Twist Jump (twist R then L as you jump)
● Single-leg high knee
● Straight leg alternate (mummy jump)
● Twist jump
● Scissor
● Out and in
● Criss-cross jump
● Side to side (two feet together - like skiing)
● Heels Forward
● Heel-Toe (heels kick forward and toe kicks back as you jump on opposite foot. Do 4
with each foot, 8 total or 8 with each foot, 16 total)

ROPE SKILLS

● Swing rope side to side with handles put together as a break in between
skill sets
● Criss-Cross Rope Jump (advancecd optional skill)
● Backwards Jump
● Swing Rope side to side then basic jump

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
