Dear Donor,

We are writing to you as a management consultant to pitch an investment in a youth

mental wellbeing fund. Our focus is on agency, resilience, and connectedness as
drivers of mental wellbeing through grants to organizations across the world, with
a focus on the global south.

Social media has become a prominent fixture in the lives of many individuals facing
the challenges of mental illness. Studies have reported that individuals living
with a range of mental disorders, including depression, psychotic disorders, or
other severe mental illnesses, use social media platforms at comparable rates as
the general population. Across the USA and globally, very few people living with
mental illness have access to adequate mental health services. The wide reach and
near ubiquitous use of social media platforms may afford novel opportunities to
address these shortfalls in existing mental health care, by enhancing the quality,
availability, and reach of services.

However, there is also growing research that finds that the more time spent on
social media, the more likely a person will experience mental health symptoms like
anxiety, isolation, and hopelessness. High levels of social media use over the span
of four years was associated with increased depression among middle and high school
youths.

Our fund aims to address this crisis by focusing on agency, resilience, and
connectedness as drivers of mental wellbeing. By investing in organizations that
leverage the popularity and interactive features of social media to enhance the
delivery of interventions, we can help address this crisis.

We would be happy to provide you with more information and insights backed by
research. Thank you for considering our proposal.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]
