Thank you for volunteering with the New Berlin Lions Club! We are grateful for your help making the
corn roast a success. Below is key information to prepare you for your shifts.
DRESS REQUIREMENTS:
A. WEAR A HAT. Health regulations require that all workers wear a hat. A baseball hat is perfect.
A paper hat will be provided if you don’t have one.
B. WEAR CLOSED-TOE SHOES. Health regulations require feet to be covered. No open-toe
shoes, crocs, sandals, or flip-flops. Some type of tennis shoes are the best. Without proper
footwear, you can’t work.
C. REMOVE NAIL POLISH AND/OR FAKE NAILS. If you have nail polish or fake nails on you
must wear gloves when handling food.
D. Wear clothes that can be washed. You’re going to get a little dirty.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
A. Soda and water will be available for you during your shift.
B. You will get a break to eat and rest during your shift. Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, or cheese
sandwiches plus potato chips and, of course, corn will be provided. All shifts will enjoy a great
meal.
C. While eating, please stay in the designated break area. Health regulations require that we
don’t eat or drink near the customers.
D. **All volunteers must be at least 14 years old. This is a State Fair mandate.
E. When you arrive, sign in and give us your T-shirt size. We will distribute a T-shirt to you at the
Fair. Also, you may grab a hat and gloves if needed, and an apron. Only one T-shirt per
volunteer will be given, even if you are working multiple shifts. We don’t have extras.
F. You might be asked to work different positions throughout your shift. We ask for you to be
flexible.
VOLUNTEER SIGNUP:
The Lions Club will provide bus transportation for all volunteers in and out of the Fair. This will
also include a ticket for each volunteer to enter the State Fairgrounds. If you want to enter the
grounds without using the provided bus service, you will be responsible for paying your own way into
the Fair.
The bus will originate at the New Berlin Bowl Ale House located at 160 th and Cleveland in New
Berlin. Please park on the far east side of the east parking lot, next to the bus. This keeps room
for patron parking close to the building.
The bus will also stop and pick up individuals who want to park on the street at 92nd and
Schlinger Avenue in West Allis. This is west of the State Fair entrance.
Here are the bus schedules and times. Play close attention to the times because they differ
on Saturday and Sunday.
6:15 pm Bus leaves for return trip (approx) – the bus must stop at the bank
11:00 pm Bus leaves for return trip (approx) – the bus must stop at the bank
5:15 pm Bus leaves for return trip (approx) – the bus must stop at the bank
11:00 pm Bus leaves for return trip (approx) – the bus must stop at the bank
PLEASE NOTE: All return times are approximate. The faster we clean up, the quicker we can leave.
Make sure that parents who are picking up children understand that return times can vary as much as
30 minutes or so. The last Sunday of the fair, closing time is 10 pm so our bus will run accordingly.
We as Lions members are so appreciative of all those who volunteer their time. Because of your
efforts the New Berlin Lions Club donates thousands of dollars each year to numerous worthwhile
causes. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you.
