SECTION 1: SHORT ESSAY

From your observation and experience, how has the job recruitment process changed in the
digital age and especially through the Covid-19 pandemic? Have the changes created
opportunities, or challenges to students?
ANSWER 1:
As we can see, technology has significantly contributed to the changes in the globe. Businesses
have an increasing number of possibilities for hiring, keeping up with the digital age’s rapid
expansion trend. They recognize this development and the difficulties and problems of luring
talent.
Since the occurrence of COVID-19, the recruitment process has changed. Face-to-face meetings
have given way to online meetings with video or groups of job searchers using systems like
Zoom, Microsoft Team, and Google Meetings. Recruiters didn't use online interviews before the
pandemic, but they now must adapt to the new reality and learn how to deal with them. For
example, Before the epidemic, a candidate would have just responded to the interviewer's
questions, but now they must deal with a task that is pertinent to the firm.
Additionally, due to social distance, employers evaluate domestic prospects and former
employees more closely than candidates who are farther away. Additionally, rather of hiring
more seasonal workers, some companies are temporarily postponing hiring for fixed roles in
order to be flexible and respond to the Covid-19 outbreak. In the digital age, job advertisements
play a significant role in the hiring process. To boost their capacity to connect with a large
number of prospects, companies collaborate with numerous departments to build a combination
of keywords, job descriptions, and advertising information. Job seekers in a specific field will
have better access to career options that are ideal for them thanks to recruitment advertising.
*Challenges to students:
- Students face the following difficulties when working from home: It takes more trust,
better information understanding, self-management, and interpersonal interactions.
- Due to financial difficulties, there are many vacancies and many job seekers, this is a
challenge as well as an opportunity for students to challenge themselves
- The onboarding process appears to be challenging (onboarding is the process of
managing your relationship with your employer and the firm on a regular basis). When
remote performance is required, this presents a difficulty for both the new employee and
the company.
*Opportunities to students:
- When companies opt to recruit seasonal employees rather than filling permanent jobs,
students can apply for internships with ease.
- Have the opportunity to learn and grow as the firm is restructured and its focus is
narrowed as a result of economic challenges. HR managers are increasingly looking to
hire recently graduated students due to their diligence, curiosity, and vitality.
- Access more job openings via job advertisements because employers now prioritize
advertising over traditional job searches in the digital age.
ANSWER 2:
The epidemic began at the end of 2019, expanded throughout 2020, and stopped all in-person
commercial operations in 2021. Virtual communication models have the possibility to
function as a result of this. Through those platforms, it enables enterprises that are still
working during the pandemic season to do so flexibly and without interruption, which helps
to bring about a number of advantages.
First, electronic communication reduces face-to-face interactions. Since the virus spreads
swiftly through close contact, using virtual platforms for communication reduces contact
while yet enabling employees to stay in touch and receive updates from superiors or
coworkers on time and in full. For instance, a multinational corporation with a foreign
operator may need to have an online meeting to update everyone on the situation and to
announce planned tasks.
Second, the virtual office setting allows for second-level virtual communication. Working
conditions have some influence on the quality of the work, so many companies use virtual
offices to give their employees a more professional and comfortable workspace. These
offices also make it easier to manage and communicate with their staff, open offices abroad,
and save money on office rental fees. One IBC company, for instance, presently offers virtual
office services to help organizations operate and interact like they would in person.
Third, customers can locate businesses with ease. E-commerce platforms are currently well-
liked because they make it easy for clients to select the things they want to buy and pay for
them online using a variety of payment options. For instance, Shopee, Tiki, and Lazada are
the most popular e-commerce sites in Vietnam. These sites frequently host sale hunting days
to draw users with a variety of deals and promotions. Open a number of payment options,
including cash, bank transfer, and e-wallets. They may identify what to buy at a lower price
and restrict going out to buy products during such an outbreak thanks to that, which helps
draw customers.
