Introduction to Civil Engineering

Yudistira Cahaya Assidiq

Civil engineering is a part of the engineering

that studies construction building, planning,
supervision, etc. Civil engineering is divided into
five divisions, which is structural division,
transportation division, soil division, water
resources division, and construction management.
The author’s reason chose civil engineering was
that he was interested in studying construction
building and getting some suggestions from his
parents and friends. The author knows that civil
engineering has many job opportunities in the
future because Indonesia is still intensively
developing infrastructure.
The author’s intention in civil engineering is to
become a contractor. A contractor is a person
responsible for the process of working on a
building. The author was interested in structural
and transportation division. The structural division
is a part of civil engineering that focuses on the
construction of buildings, towers, bridges, and
terminals. The transportation division is another
part of civil engineering that focuses on the
construction of roads, highways, bridges, etc.
From some of the explanations above, it can be
concluded that the author intention in the future
has become a contractor in the structural and
transportation division because Indonesia has
many projects in the structural division (hospital,
public facility, building, etc.) and transportation
division (highways, roads, subway roads, MRT
roads, etc.).
The author also has several other intentions in
the field of civil engineering. One of them is to
build a mosque and “Rumah belajar Al-Qur.an” in
his hometown. The author will always do his best
to make his intentions and dreams come true.
