DESIGN TRENDS PROTOCOL

Hypothesis: in here you explain what you will be doing. Ex. Because the modernist design
movement in the USA has so much work of semiotics it may be effective to accomplish a
campaign that supports women who are suffering of anorexia without referring a body
image ideal (no more than 5 lines)
Backgrounds
In here you need to write about theories that have said about eating disorders, at least three
different authors, which is the main point of what they said, where has their theory has
applied: medical treatment, social analysis, etc, if their theory is still being used or not and
why. In this part you should also explain, show and briefly analyze other design campaign,
which work with the same topic: who else has created eating disorder campaigns, where
were they applied and how effective they were. By the end of this part you need to choose
the other who better help you to explain what you want to explain. (At least 2 pages) (You

Theory frame
Since you select an author in the last part in this you need to develop further more his point,
objective, analysis, etc., you have to express your point towards eating disorders. You also
have to develop an explanation of the design trend you have chosen, why that one, main
characteristics, where did it began, etc. (3-4 pages) (You have to write it in a third person o

Diagnosis
Describe the situation your population is living. This is referring to two kind of population:
the one that has the eating disorder you are working with: how many men and women
suffer from it, how many die because of the disorder. The other population is the one you
are directing the campaign to, for example if it is Anáhuac Querétaro Students how many
are they, where is it more effective to place it, why will it work, how much time do they
have to observe/use it. (At least 2 pages) (You have to write it in a third person o

Justification
Why is your project better than others? Compare your ideas with the ones you describe in
the backgrounds? What makes your project so necessary?. (At least 1 pages) (You have to

cited using APA: author, year, page).
In this section you have to do a SWOT Matrix.
General Objectives:
Usually you only need one, but it depends on your project. This is derived from your
hypothesis, for example, considering the hypothesis I have at the beginning:
To design a campaign inspired by the Modernist Design Movement in the USA, which
creates conscious in women who suffer from anorexia. (2-3 lines)
General Question
It is derived from the general objective, for each objective you have you need a question.
Example, considering my objective:
How to apply the principles of the Modernist Design Movement to create a campaign for
women who suffer from anorexia? (2-3 lines)
Specific Objectives
You may have as many as you want, this are other things, which make better your work.
For example:
To systematize the information about anorexia to create a symbolic language appropriate
for a poster.
To analyze teenage behavior to understand what my campaign needs to have. (2-3 lines)
Specific Questions
Each for every objective. You may do first the questions and later on the objective, it
depends on how you feel more comfortable. Example considering one of my objectives:
What kind of information will work to create conscience about anorexia in teenage
women? (2-3 lines)
Methodology
How is your campaign supposed to work? If it is postcards, posters, infographic, etc. How
will you measure the effect it has. (1-2 pages)
