1 Abstract
1.1 Introduction
This system is for release machine lock status with Relocation Machine Security
(RMS) unit.
This is new system substitute for previous [inquiry-ID] and [password] system.
This system identifies Machine location and Machine itself using GPS dongle and
PC software with registered location and machine information in the server. This
system prevents relocating a machine into new location, where DMG MORI does not
approve.

1.2 About releasable machines

In addition to conventional MAPPS machine, this system can release
NonMAPPS/AfterInstalled machine.
New item “release type” is added in Machine Location Information and it is set as
below in HQ server.
1) MAPPS
2) NonMAPPS
3) AfterInstalled
4) NonMAPPS/AfterInstalled
Note) In case of Machine Location Information which has release type
“NonMAPPS/AfterInstalled” as 4), operation staff must choose “NonMAPPS” or
“AfterInstalled” before identifying and releasing machine.

1.3 Operation flow (For MAPPS)

(Release operation result)

Fig 1 Overall flow (Machine with MAPPS, New installation)

4/34
The operation has 3 restrictions.
1) Use same GPS dongle.
When you check machine location, you need to use the same GPS dongle
which is used to get Machine Location Information.
2) Machine Location Information has expiration date.
If reached to expiration date, that Machine Location Information can not use
to release machine lock of RMS.
3) There are time limitation between checking machine location with GPS and
actual release operation with machine.
Machine Location Information has time limitation information. If you can
not do release operation with MAPPS, data will be erased from the dongle
and LED_RELEASE will be turned off.

The operation flow for new installation of machine with MAPPS is like below.

1.Register Machine Location Information

1) Sales stuff goes to new machine location, and then get detail position
(latitude and longitude) with GPS dongle.
2) Register the data to the server, which information is used to release
machine lock of RMS.
Registered data:Machine information(machine serial number etc), Customer
information, New machine position (latitude and longitude), Scheduled date
of relocating machine.
3) After approved, Machine Location Information is valid, and then you can
download that information from the server.
2.Get Machine Location Information
1) Apply to download Machine Location Information to release machine lock
of RMS.
2) After approved application, you can download Machine Location
Information from the server.
3) Download Machine Location Information from the server, and save into
PC.
Note) this operation needs authentication with GPS dongle.
Note) necessary to connect to network.
3.Check machine location
1) Relocate machine to new location.
2) Select Machine Location Information for target machine.
This operation needs authentication with GPS dongle. (This GPS dongle

5/34
needs to same one which used to download Machine Location Information.)
3) Go out of building, and then get GPS position with PC software.
4) PC software checks difference of machine position (latitude and longitude)
in selected Machine Location Information and that gotten from GPS.
Its difference is enough small, Machine information will copy into GPS
dongle.
Note) not necessary to connect to network.
4.Identify Machine
1) Connect GPS dongle to MAPPS, and then follow the instruction on the
screen.
2) MAPPS automatically checks machine information in GPS dongle, and
identifies machine.
Note) not necessary to connect to network.
5.Release machine lock of RMS.
1) If MAPPS identified correct machine information, it automatically
releases machine lock of RMS.
2) Release operation result (log) is saved in GPS dongle.
3) Connect GPS dongle to PC, and then automatically release operation
result (log) will copy into PC.
Note) not necessary to connect to network.
6.Report of release operation result
1) Upload release operation result (log) in PC to the server.
Note) necessary to connect to network.

1.4 Operation flow (For NonMAPPS/AfterInstalled)

Normally operation flow is basically same as MAPPS.

The operation has a restriction in addition to 3 restrictions for MAPPS.

4) Keep GPS dongle connected with PC while release operation.
Because GPS dongle itself does not supply enough power to a RMS board, it
releases lock with PC

2.Get Machine Location Information

4.Identify Machine
1) Keep GPS dongle connected with PC, and connect GPS dongle with RMS
board with an attached RMS board connection cable.
2) Push BOOT button of GPS dongle.
3) RMS board automatically checks board S/N in GPS dongle, and identifies
machine.
Note) not necessary to connect to network.
5.Release machine lock of RMS.
1) If RMS board identified correct board S/N, it automatically releases
machine lock of RMS.
2) Release operation result (log) is saved in GPS dongle.
3) Keep GPS dongle connect to PC, and then automatically release operation
result (log) will copy into PC.
Note) not necessary to connect to network.
6.Report of release operation result
Operate same as MAPPS.

1.5 Improved points of GPS dongle 2015

The improvement requests of the previous dongle are described below.
Takes long time until GPS position is caught.
Takes long time because two or more machines cannot be once released by
one GPS position check.
PC is heavy since PC is used for catching GPS position.

2.3 How to have a dongle

The GPS module is contained in the red dotted line portion.
When acquiring a GPS position, operating time will become short if you
can consider below.
Have a blue dotted line part of a dongle.
Cover the GPS module part (failing mark line part) of
dongle with neither a hand nor metal.
Don't place dongle on PC under operation.
2.4 Caution
GPS dongle is important item of DMG MORI. So it is controlled with S/N.
DMG MORI checks its existence periodically.
It is precision instrument, so if you drop down it to hard ground and so on, it will be
broken. And if you put it in your pocket and press it, it will be broken.

12 Q&A
Q1: Can we get GPS position in doors?
A: GPS signal from GPS satellite does not reach in doors, so we can not get
GPS position in doors. At the place where is high-ceilinged and roof has glass
windows like DMG MORI IGA assembly plant, we may get GPS signal in

33/34
doors. (This is not sure.)
Q2: To get GPS position takes long time.
A: If GPS signal is weak, or there are not enough number of GPS satellite,
GPS dongle retry to get GPS signal, so it takes a time. We recommend
getting GPS signal at open space, where are no building to block your view.
Q3: It tales five minutes or more to get GPS position.
A: End the PC software once, and remove the dongle from PC. Wait ten
seconds, connect the dongle with PC, and operate again.
Q4: Error message, like “Not connected USB dongle”, appears.
A: Connect GPS dongle, and wait 5 seconds, and then start PC software
again. When GPS dongle is connected to PC or MAPPS, it takes some
seconds to identify GPS dongle because of keeping a security.
If you start PC software before GPS dongle is identified, error message
appears like not connected dongle.
Q5: PC software hung up / no response
A: It takes a long time to communication with GPS dongle, so it seems to PC
software hung up, but usually PC software is running.
If PC software is doing some process, cursor is changed to hourglass.
Q6: GPS dongle does not work (LED turned OFF)
A: Remove GPS dongle from PC or MAPPS, and then wait more than 5
minutes. After that, connect GPS dongle to PC, red LED will blink.
GPS dongle and PC are doing complex communication, so some special
operation cause stopping software. If dongle software stopped, both red and
blue LED will turn OFF.
Q7: Succeeded to check machine location, but we can not release machine lock of
RMS.
A: It seems machine information, which is used to release machine lock, is
erased from GPS dongle. If blue LED of GPS dongle is turned off, it means
machine information in GPS is erased. Please do operation from checking
machine location again. At that time, you need to do checking machine
location operant and release machine lock operation within 10 minutes.
Q8: Machine Location Information is not in the server.
A: If Machine Location Information is not in the server, you cannot do
release operation. Please contact to Export Control Section and ask them to
register Machine Location Information.
