Telemedicine, the practice of medicine at a distance, began with the telephone. Today it includes video
technology and high-speed communications using satellites.
Although telemedicine occurs in outer space, it will change everyday medical practice on earth. It can help
reduce queues and waiting time for doctors in hospitals. In addition, it can reduce the number of journeys a
person might need to make to hospital for follow-up treatment and change the treatment of the elderly.
Whereas most people in the developed world can easily visit a doctor or a hospital for a medical check,
people in some developing countries are not so fortunate. However, a satellite phone, a computer and some
simple technology could establish a direct link between them and hospital specialists.
Telemedicine could also change medical education by bringing the expert skills of the world's leading
specialists to students throughout the worlD. There is already a medical education link between a university
in the UK and a university in the Middle East. This means that students and teachers can share in live classes,
which is a great improvement on traditional textbooks.
Ships and off-shore installations like drilling platforms are also making increasing use of telemedicine. In
one recent case an oil-rig worker had a worsening headache two days after a head injury. Stormy weather
prevented him from being taken to the mainland, but a-video-discussion and examination by a doctor on land
established that he was not at serious risk.

GRAMMAR
Language is more than a very long list of words. In fact, to make ourselves understood, changes in the form
of the words have to be (35)_______. For this reason, the necessity for grammar exists. Grammar gives us an
understanding of the structure of the language (36)______ we ourselves speak. It is also a requirement if we
want to learn or teach a foreign language. In its early beginnings, grammar was (37)_______ with
interpreting language that had become outdated and incomprehensible to most people. In ancient Greece,
educators did not succeed in using the epics of Homer until five centuries after they had been created, which
was an ever-growing problem for later generations, particularly those who did not share Homer's dialect.
Given that in ancient times, most people hardly travelled outside (38)_________ square miles of their place
of birth, it was not surprising that a great number of local dialects had been formed. (39)______, a system
was needed to cope with the problems this caused, and this need has been the basis of most grammar books
ever since.

answer to each of the questions from 44 to 50.
It is a myth that creative people are born with their talents: gifts from God or nature. Creative genius is, in
fact, latent within many of us, without our realizing. But how far do we need to travel to find the path to
creativity? For many people, a long way. This applies to all areas of life. When we are solving problems, for
example, we may seek different answers, but, often as not, find ourselves walking along the same well-
trodden paths.
So, for many people, their actions and behaviors are set in immovable blocks, their minds clogged with the
cholesterol of habitual actions, preventing them from operating freely, and thereby stifling creation.
Unfortunately, mankind's very struggle for survival has become a tyranny - the obsessive desire to give order
to the world is a case in point. This can be seen in people's attitude to time, social customs and the great
number of rules and regulations by which the human mind is now restricted.
The groundwork for keeping creative ability in check begins at school. School, later university and then
work, teach people to regulate their lives, imposing a continuous process of restrictions which is increasing
exponentially with the advancement of technology. Yet, even here in this hostile environment, the
foundations for creativity are being laid; because setting off on the creative path is also partly about using
rules and regulations. Such limitations are needed so that once they are learned, they can be broken.
The human mind can be trained to be creative. One strategy is to erect artificial barriers or hurdles in solving
a problem. In this way, people are obliged to explore unfamiliar territory, which may lead to some startling
discoveries. Unfortunately, the difficulty in this exercise, and with creation itself, is convincing people that
creativity is possible. There is also an element of fear involved, however subliminal, as deviating from the
safety of one's thought patterns is very much akin to madness. But, once we open the creativity box, a whole
new world will unfold before our very eyes.
