(iv) Using a razor blade, cut off the antenna from its base. Draw the first 5
segment as observed from the microscope at medium power. Do not label
(03 marks)

(d) Place the specimen dorsal side uppermost, and cut along the right lateral side
of the specimen, displace the alimentary canal to the left to expose the
structures on the ventral cuticle and structures involved with removal of waste
products. Draw and label (18 marks)

2. You are provided with specimen P and solution A and distilled water.
You are required to find out the effect of solution A on the specimen P.
Label petri dishes 1,2,3,4,5. Measure the solutions A and distilled water
according to the table below.

Peel off strips of the lower epidermis of the leaf of specimen P and put them
in each of the solutions in the petri dishes 1to 5. And leave it to stand for 15
minutes. After 15 minutes. Mount each epidermal strip from each solution
and view under medium power of a microscope. Count 20 purple colored
cells, out of which, count the number of plasmolyzed cells.

(a) Compute the percentage concentration of solution A and percentage

number of plasmolyzed cells and complete the table (07 ½ marks)

(b) Plot a graph to show the relationship between percentage concentration of

solution A and percentage plasmolysis (07 ½ marks)

(ON THE GRAPH PROVIDED)
