Applications are invited from suitably qualified employees to fill a vacancy in the Processing Department at
the Obotan Site as;

PLANT OPERATOR

JOB PURPOSE

The Plant Operator will be responsible for operating the Process Plant in a safe and efficient manner and in
compliance with statutory regulations to achieve production targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
▪ Comply with all Safety, Environment, ICMC and other Company policies relevant to the work area and
report all incidents that occur at the work area to the Supervisor.
▪ Ensure compliance with the use of prescribed PPEs and Take 5 and other relevant safety management
systems before undertaking any tasks and report any unsafe act, condition/hazard, and security issues
to the Supervisor.
▪ Operate some of the key process plant sections such as Crushers, Mills & Classification, Thickener, CIL,
Desorption, and Control Room in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
▪ Collect samples from designated points at the end of the shift for assaying.
▪ Monitor and record the operating parameters of the process circuit and submit end-of-shift log-sheet
to the Supervisor.
▪ Monitor and inspect the process plant equipment to ensure it operates as expected to achieve
predetermined production and performance targets.
▪ Report any change from predetermined plans which are likely to affect the achievement of optimum
production targets to the Supervisor and assist in identifying solution to the problem.
▪ Participate and contribute to the development and review of appropriate SOPs, which may include
isolation procedure of all equipment.
▪ Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the process circuits.
▪ Conduct a thorough shift handover process, detailing and recording all relevant information correctly
in the various logbooks and submit reports to the incoming shift/crew.
▪ Perform any other task assigned by the supervisor in accordance with company policy.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge
▪ A minimum of West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate of Examination (WASSCE) in General Science
or its equivalent.
▪ Mineral Commission’s Processing Technician Certificate of Competency.
▪ Two (2) years’ working experience in a gold processing plant or related field.
▪ Operate at least two (2) of the major process circuits listed below:
o Crushing
o Milling
o Gravity and Thickener
o Reagent Management
o Acid wash and Elution
o CIL and Detox
o Water Treatment Plant
o Tailing Storage Facility
o In-line Leach Reactor and Gold Room.

▪ Good working knowledge of processing plant equipment.


▪ Good working knowledge of process operations, particularly crushing, SAG – Ball Mill Grinding,
Leach / CIL, Elution, Reagents and Tails Operation.
▪ Operational understanding of the concepts used in running various circuits in a gold processing
plant.
▪ Good understanding of hazard identification and mitigation, and risk assessment at the workplace
▪ Basic understanding of chemical handling, storage, usage and disposal.
▪ Understanding of basic metallurgical parameters such as pressure, temperature, density, flowrate,
etc. and their influence on a gold processing plant
▪ Knowledge of Basic First Aid and Emergency Response will be an added advantage.

Skills
▪ Ability to write basic report and read and interpret simple plant documents such as safe operating
procedures, and manuals.
▪ Good team player with strong duty of care skills.
▪ Must be proactive and demonstrate the ability to take appropriate initiatives.
▪ Ability to operate multiple circuits on a gold processing plant.
▪ Ability to perform activities involving repetitive motion.
▪ Ability to manually handle load of appropriate weight.
▪ Strong commitment to timelines, accuracy, and professionalism.
▪ Good communication skills and coordinating ability.
