Hand-Over Record
UAIS DEBEG 3400 with DCU DEBEG 3401

The following operating procedure is performed on the Display and Control Unit DEBEG 3401 (DCU). The
purpose of this document is to verify the correct installation of the AIS. Please make a mark in the small boxes
if the requirements are fulfilled.

Preferences
Before starting the procedure all equipment (UAIS Electronics Unit, DCU and navigation sensors) must already
have been switched on for at least 5 minutes. All connected navigation sensors should be available and should
indicate no fault condition. If this is not the case, please note it under Remarks on page 2.

1. Alarms
Requirement:
Þ During hand-over, no fault message and no fault code shall occur, which is
listed in the Technical Manual of the DCU (Fault Code List).
Exception: If no device providing Rate of Turn information is connected
to the installation, the alarm No valid ROT information may occur.

2. Setting the Voyage Data


In the dialog VOYAGE DATA, define own voyage data.
Requirement:
Þ The parameter TYPE shall be in accordance with the ship's type.

3. Own AIS Data Transmitted by the UAIS


Mark the own ship symbol: Press the ENTER button as often, till the mark of the selected
target (square) is on the own ship symbol.
Requirements:
Þ POSITION, COG/SOG and HDG/ROT shall be displayed (ROT if connected).
Þ Name of ship, call sign, MMSI, equipment class and length of own
ship shall be displayed correctly.
Þ DESTINATION, ETA, TYPE, STATE, DRAUGHT shall correspond
to the own AIS data defined with 2. above.

4. Status of Connected Sensors


Open the Dialog AIS STATE.
Requirements:
Þ Behind UTC, Clock OK shall appear not later than 30 minutes after
switch-on of the UAIS Electronics Unit.
Þ No entry may contain Invalid.
Exception: If no device providing Rate of Turn information is connected to the
installation, the ROT field may show Invalid.

5. Long Range Port


If a SATCOM system is connected to the Long Range Port, the long range interrogation
can be performed correctly only by means of the SATCOM system. This test is optional
and depends on the installation.
Requirements:
Þ The Long Range Port is not connected to a SATCOM system - Test not possible.
Þ If a SATCOM system is connected, pleas ask a VTS equipped with a Base Station
for a Long Range Interrogation. A message shal be received.
Please be aware of cost resulting from the use of satellite communication.

6. Pilot Plug
This function can only be demonstrated by the means of a Pilot Station.
This test is optional and depends on the installation.
Requirements:
Þ The Pilot Plug is not installed - Test not possible.
Þ If a Pilot Plug is installed
a) connect a Pilot Station to the Pilot Plug and check wether AIS information
is displayed correctly.

b) connect a laptop to the Pilot Plug and read out the NMEA messages to
demonstrate that the port ist working.

Remarks:

UAIS DEBEG 3400 with RADARPILOT ATLAS 1000 Series

The following operating procedure is performed on the RADARPILOT ATLAS 1000 Series. The purpose of this
document is to verify the correct installation of the AIS. Please make a mark in the small boxes if the require-
ments are fulfilled.
Preferences
Before starting the procedure all equipment (UAIS Electronics Unit, RADARPILOT and navigation sensors)
must already have been switched on for at least 5 minutes. All connected navigation sensors should be avail-
able and should indicate no fault condition. If this is not the case, please note it under Remarks on page 2.

A Functionality of UAIS Electronics Unit

For the tests it is sufficient to perform the complete procedure on a single radar completely.
1. Alarms
Requirement:
Þ During hand-over, the alarms shall not occur:
- AIS FAULT,
- AIS OFFLINE,
- SYSTEM FAULT 3617.
2. Setting the Voyage Data
Click on MENU, AIS, SET VOYAGE DATA, and define own AIS data.
Requirement:
Þ The parameter TYPE shall be in accordance with the ship's type.
3. Identification Data Transmitted by the UAIS
Click on own ship symbol with MORE key, then click on DISPLAY OWN AIS DATA (with DO
key). The required data will be displayed in the Multidisplay on the right side of the screen.
Requirement:
Þ In the index card IDENTIFICATON, the MMSI, NAME and CALL SIGN of own ship
must have been entered correctly.
4. Navigation Data Transmitted by the UAIS
Click on IDENTIFICATON and then on NAVIGATION DATA.
Requirement:
Þ LAT, LON, HDG, COG and SOG must be displayed correctly.
5. Voyage Data Transmitted by the UAIS
Click on NAVIGATION DATA and then on SHIP DATA.
Requirement:
Þ The defined voyage data and the length of own ship must be displayed.
6. Status of Connected Sensors
Click on SHIP DATA and then on TRANSPONDER STATE or AIS STATE
(depending on the software version).
Requirements:
Þ Behind UTC, Clock OK must appear not later than 30 minutes
after switch-on of the UAIS Electronics Unit.
Þ For POSN, SOG/COG, HDG and ROT, no entry may contain Invalid.

7. Long Range Port

If more than one unit of the RADARPILOT ATLAS 1000 is installed, for all radars at minimum check A3
has to be performed.

C Configuration of CHARTPILOT ATLAS 93xx Series

On all CHARTPILOT ATLAS 93xx installed, the menu Radar / AIS shall be available.

91xx Series. The purpose of this document is to verify the correct installation of the AIS. Please make a mark
in the small boxes if the requirements are fulfilled.
Preferences
Before starting the procedure all equipment (UAIS Electronics Unit, CHARTPILOT or MULTIPILOT and naviga-
tion sensors) must already have been switched on for at least 5 minutes. All connected navigation sensors
should be available and should indicate no fault condition. If this is not the case, please note it under Remarks
on page 2.

A Functionality of UAIS Electronics Unit

For the tests it is sufficient to perform the complete procedure on a single ECDIS completely.
1. Alarms
Requirement:
Þ During hand-over, following alarms shall not occur:
- AIS TRANSPONDER NOT AVAILABLE,
- AIS NOT AVAILABLE,
- any FAULT with AIS is stated as the source.
2. Setting the Voyage Data
In the menu Radar/AIS > Voyage Data, define own AIS data.
Requirement:
Þ The parameter Type shall be in accordance with the ship's type..
3. Own AIS Data
Click on own ship symbol with Info key. Click on index card Targets, then click
on AIS Own Ship.
Requirements:
Þ Position, True Course, True Speed and Heading must be displayed.
Þ Call Sign, Name of Ship, MMSI and Dimensions of own ship must have been
entered correctly.
Þ Draught, Type of Ship, Navigation Status and Destination must correspond to the
own AIS data defined with 2. above.
Transponder State:
Þ Behind UTC, Clock OK must appear not later than 30 minutes after switch-on
of the UAIS Electronics Unit.
Þ For Position, SOG / COG, Heading and Rate Of Turn, no entry may contain Invalid.
