Trip
Planner
*Math
*Research
*Basic Budgeting
Dear Teacher,
Thank you so much for downloading this product. I wanted to share a little
information about how I utilized this activity in my classroom.
This trip planner is very basic and should be suitable for 3rd-5th graders. I used
this as a third grade teacher for enrichment. During our intervention time, I
received students who were doing well in their classes, and we were able to do a
variety of projects to challenge their brains. I introduced this trip planning activity
around spring break. This activity requires students to research two
destinations. They must consider the destinations’ temperature, attractions, and
accommodations. Students must then research the cost of the hotels and
transportation as well as entertainment. My students were working as a group
and had to come to a consensus on all decisions made. Some ideas to improve
your fun:
*Give each group a blank folder with all of the pages they need for this project.
*Allow students to have time to create a “Travel Agency” name and write it on
their group folder.
*Refer to the groups by their agency name.
*For less chaos and more contained research, provide students with links to 10-15
travel destinations. This narrows their decision making process, and it also
keeps their searches more monitored.

I hope you enjoy this FREEBIE! Please take some time to check out my other
products. Don’t forget to provide feedback!

Thanks,
Lindsay

The Calvin Family
123 Sunny Lane
Springfield, MO 65807

February 1
Dear Travel Agents,
We are the Calvin family, and we need your help.
Spring break is coming up, and we would like to take
a family vacation. However, we aren’t quite sure where
to go. The only travel dates available to us are April
4-11. A four day, three night trip is ideal. Our preferred
destination would have nice warm weather and must be
in the United States. The average temperature in the
area should be above 75 degrees. We would like to
have activities for adults and for children. Our travel
budget is $3,000. Please contact us with your ideas.
Sincerely,
Doug (Dad), Sherry (Mom), James (9), and Sandy (8) Calvin
