INTRODUCTION
 Problem Statement
Shoppers stop limited has less staff due its salary structure. People do not
retain in the organization due to more working hours and less salary. This
problem mostly happens with the CCA level candidates. Customer Care
Associates are those people who work on the floor, they have a standing
job and are more inclined toward sales. Showing the products to the
customer and fulfilling their needs is a part of their job.
Problem is employee attrition rate in the organization.

 Rationale of the problem

To acquire fresh talent for the organization within its budget and salary
structure.
Reduce employee attrition in the organization. Hiring skilled candidates
and right people for the right job.

 Methodology
1. Naukri Portals
2. Employee References

 Scope of the Study

1. This study on talent acquisition basically covers different sites or
portals used for recruitment in shoppers stop.
2. The recruitment process being followed in the organization.
3. The HR audit documentation process.
4. Onboarding and Scheduling Interviews

 Limitations of the Study

1. The period of the study was too short, hence might not be that
accurate.
2. We might not get candidates as and when required.
3. The study was carried out for a short of period, hence it is precise.
DETAILS OF THE ORGANIZATION
All businesses that offer products and services to consumers are in the retail
sector. Various retail sales and store types can be found all throughout the
world, including grocery, convenience, discount, independent, department, DIY,
electrical, and specialty shops. The retail sector expands consistently year over
year and employs a sizable workforce globally, especially with the rise in
popularity of online shopping.
This fast-paced industry's competitiveness has become more apparent in recent
years. Retail establishments have been forced to revaluate their established
procedures and strategies that have governed the industry for years for 2022.
The management and supply chain ideas that have changed on a worldwide
scale for many well-known businesses only serves to highlight how crucial
retail sales are to the economy.A retailer is a person or establishment
fromwhom you buy products. Typically, retailers don't produce their own
goods. They buy products from a producer
SHOPPERS STOP LTD

Shoppers stop is a retail store which offers a collection of exclusive brands both
national and international. It also has international tie ups such as Mac,
Clinique, Bobbi brown etc. It is the first store to launch its inhouse brands
namely-

 Altlife
 Life
 Kashish
 Arcelia
 Bandeya
 Haute Curry
 Stop
 Insense
 Karrot
It is the first retail store to launch its loyalty programmes that is First Citizen
Membership and Black Card Membership. It is the first retail store to start
hiring MBA’S. Shoppers stop ltd also has a home stop brand which has all day-
to-day items for households. Be it furniture or beddings. It has a online delivery
application as well from where customers can get order online at their door step.
It also gives its customers endless aisle service. Endless Aisle means suppose a
customer enters the store and couldn’t find his size in the product he likes than
what the associate on the floor can do is order online for him if the size is
available and ask for a delivery option whether store pick up or doorstep
delivery. Shoppers stop also has separate personal shopper lounge for all the
black card customers. These customers are being attended by personal shoppers
in that very lounge. They don’t have to stand in long ques for billing, their
parking is redeemed, and they get a PS who assists them in all their shopping.
SWOT ANALYSIS

 Strengths- The most well-known department store in India is Shoppers

Stop. Although they have made a name for themselves as the gold
standard in the industry, they face fierce competition. Their
distinctiveness and capacity for coping with routine technical changes
are their top priorities. Because of its lengthy history and exceptional
quality, the company was able to maintain its distinctive and well-
respected brand. They have a precise and unambiguous business plan.
With stores in more than 40 cities, Shoppers Stop has a sizable market
share. It serves as a one-stop shop for many different items. There are
more than 400 of the best national and international brands in each
category. Both their executive team and their professional workforce
have a solid track record.
 Weakness- Despite its notoriety, Shoppers Stop has drawbacks. It's
crucial to identify and fix a company's flaws. It helps the business
expand and gain market domination. Ineffective use of shareholder
money - ROE has been falling lately. Over the previous two years, there
has been a decline in quarterly revenue and an inefficient utilisation of
assets to generate profits. It uses less marketing strategies than global
leaders, both on the ATL and BTL levels. It always uses a low-risk
strategy when joining a new market or company.

 Opportunity- Opportunities are aims that need to be attained for

positive outcomes. These chances could show up in unassuming ways,
but for the company to grow, it is crucial to recognise them. Modern
retail technologies have historically been applied by Shoppers Stop. To
provide a satisfying shopping experience for their clients, it is their
ongoing goal to develop and implement innovative technical solutions.
On a national level, there is a good chance that the business will grow
and enter new regions. It may be categorised as a high-end retail
category called Hyper city. For international investors seeking to invest
in India, it is regarded as a more suitable partner.

 Threats- Customers frequently choose an easy-to-use online shopping

experience. As a result, big retailers like Amazon and Flipkart are
emerging as formidable rivals. Shoppers Stop and other brick-and-mortar
businesses are under increasing pressure from e-commerce rivals who
offer customers significant discounts.
PESTLE ANALYSIS

 Political Factors- Shoppers Stop has locations across the nation. The
government's regulations and rules have an impact on a country's
business activities. If these issues are not resolved, the company can be
subject to severe fines or lose its ability to function effectively. Therefore,
political and macroeconomic considerations are crucial to a company's
ability to survive. Trade restrictions and taxes imposed on Shoppers
Stop's various brand-name products could have an impact on the
business's profitability. A nation's political stability helps the business
operate well without experiencing political unrest. Government regulation
of prices can occasionally have a significant impact on a firm and shifting
policies may also result in shifting political conditions, which may also
influence a company. Therefore, thorough examination of the political
environment variables must be performed on a regular basis for a nation
to thrive and grow effectively.

 Economic Factors- Exchange rates, interest rates, employment, inflation,

the structure of the economy, and labour market conditions are just a few
of the economic variables that might have an impact on Shoppers Stop.
For a business-like Shoppers Stop, inflation may have an effect on net
sales as customers migrate to less expensive options, which may also
result in reduced levels of brand loyalty. The costs that the business
would incur for human resources would be influenced by factors like the
state of the labour market or the rate of unemployment in a certain nation.
The cost of labour would decrease as unemployment increased. Bank
offers, which are also partially a product of the general economic
considerations, have an impact on customer purchases in stores. A
detailed examination of these variables would aid in the company's
analyses.

 Social Factors- Social factors such as culture, class distribution,

consumer spending willingness, access to online shopping, time available
to spend online or offline, class distribution, and levels of social concern
are the social factors that influence what should be stocked. These
demographic trends include average population age, gender ratio, and
income. If carefully considered, these criteria can also be utilised to
decide how to attract customers and what marketing channels to employ.
A key predictor of future demand could potentially be the birth rate. It is
important to continually examine how society's awareness and knowledge
of current trends impact corporate operations. Additionally, the residents
of the house could have some remarkable features.

 Technological Factors- To better serve their clients, Shoppers Stop

should become familiar with emerging payment technologies and
integrate them into their physical locations. Additionally, the business
should concentrate on research and development to improve its supply
chain as well as its technological goals. The company may become long-
term viable through innovation and first mover advantage with the aid of
investment in research & development. Prior to implementing any fancy
technologies, it is important to research how well technology is received.
Another technology area that the firm must invest in is social media
marketing because of the needs of the contemporary business
environment. The corporation should maintain a good product range
because the life cycle of a fashion item is quite short.

 Legal Factors- Every day, Shoppers Stop provides service to tens of

thousands of consumers all over the world, therefore rules would be in
place to prevent any accidents or unfair practises that might be harmful to
the clients, staff, or management. Antitrust laws are in existence for the
same reason, but they vary from country to country. The corporation must
be knowledgeable about all of the rules to prevent any litigation or legal
action being taken against the company. Laws pertaining to health and
safety must also be upheld by the business because any claims made
against them could seriously harm the reputation of the organisation. The
company's concepts and business models are protected by intellectual
property laws.

 Environmental Factors- A significant issue for all businesses is to be

committed to operating in an environmentally friendly atmosphere and
aiding in the conservation of non-renewable energy resources. But by
doing so, you can also achieve sustainability, increase your chances of
making more money, and open more opportunities for future growth.
Shoppers Stop should focus on recycling, reducing, and reusing as three
key strategies for creating a sustainable environment. The company
benefits from and gains additional business from upcycling products.

Major clients of shoppers stop included all its customers and all its brands. All
the customers who come for shopping physically and who did online shopping

Detailed analysis of the task-

 Talent Acquisition, Onboarding and Induction, Joining Formalities-
Recruitment for personal shoppers and customer care associates through
Naukri portals. Searching relevant profiles through Naukri and
approaching them for the same. Scheduling interviews on MS teams for
virtual mode and physically with unit head and unit hr head. Joining
formalities as in for both inhouse and brand staff. For brand staff the
documentation needs to be completed at the time of joining and a basic
interview with the Retails operation manager. For the inhouse staff
joining formalities include raising their profile on zwayam followed by an
assessment called talocity which includes voice assessment, video
assessment and domain assessment. After all this is done a candidate
joins shoppers stop ltd. After joining the very first things he/she does is
the know your store activity, where in the selected candidate must take a
round of the whole store and find things related to store. The second step
is induction where a presentation related to shoppers stop is shown. After
this the training of the candidate begins according to the position and
designation. Onboarding on adrenalin is a must for every new joinee so s
to mark attendance till the time he/she hasn’t received his/her punch card.

 HR Audit- Audit is a very important part of any organization. I worked

for Hr audit as well. Compiling all the documents of brand staff as well as
the inhouse staff was the work. Keeping documents up to date and
uploading it on the link for auditing.
List of documents for brand staff:
1. Brand Form
2. Brand Letter
3. Photographs
4. Aadhaar Card
5. Pan Card
6. Marksheets
7. Vaccination Certificate
List of documents for inhouse staff (SSL Staff)
1. Offer letter
2. Joining Form
3. Photographs
4. Aadhar Card

5. Pan Card
6. Marksheets
7. Vaccination Certificate
8. Talocity Report

 Employee Engagement-
In any organization engaging employee activities are a must so that
employees can be as productive as they can. Keeping this in mind
shoppers stop has a policy of having employee engagement activities
every Saturday with first and shift employees.

Approach of the tasks performed-

The tasks I completed during my internship took the following approaches:
 I gave Shoppers Stop new ideas for employee engagement.
 I assisted HR with day-to-day operations and work.
 I assisted the HR team in hiring staff for various job roles.

Conclusion of the tasks-

 The organization was able to hire one DM, two PS, 1 unit HR (for
another store), three fashion consultants, three temporary staff and Four
CCA.
 Got new ideas for employee engagement activities.
 HR audit was conducted smoothly.
 Contributed to sales during Saturdays and Sundays. Ended up making
first citizen loyalty card.
 Provided training sessions on grooming and maintaining hygiene
standards which ended up in providing more and more groomed staff on
floor.
 RNR activity was done and conducted very smoothly.
ANALYSIS & OUTCOME

Through this study I got to know about the employee attrition in shoppers stop.
Employee attrition can be because of the following reason-

 Retirement
 Transfers
 Health Issues
 Resignations
 Terminations
 Salary Issues

a) What I found in shoppers stop was that the attrition rate was high.
b) This was mainly because of the low salary and long working hours.
c) The employee attrition rate of customer care associates and fashion
consultants was more as compared to managerial level.
INTERPRETATION OF OUTCOMES

Effects of attrition on employees- Monetary loss, lack of mental peace, family

issues etc.
Effect of attrition on company/ organization- Loss of productivity and sale, bad
word of mouth about the organization that why the attrition rate is so high.
CONCLUSION & LEARNING OUTCOMES

 Recommendations
Shoppers stop should ltd should have one to one interaction with their
low-level employees, should listen to them so that they are at least
satisfied and happy thinking that their seniors are with them.
They should also investigate the matter of long working hours, as in retail
it is most of the standing job.
They can plan picnics once in three months for the employees.
Health check-ups (free) can be organized for the employees.
They should try to increase their budget a bit so that employee attrition
rate goes down.
Now a customer care associate gets 3 breaks in a day. So the time of tea
break can be increased.
 Learnings from the project
Recruitment - Searching profiles through Naukri portal & approaching
candidates with relevant profiles. ▪ Scheduling interview on teams with the
interested and suitable candidates. ▪ Recruitment through employee references. ▪
Joining formalities - Raising Zwayam, Talocity test, Documentation Check, and
filling of joining form. ▪ Orientation and Induction - know your store activity &
Shoppers stop presentation. ▪ Onboarding and filling of personal details on
adrenalin. ▪ Handling employee grievances and issues. ▪ HR Documentation. ▪
Arranging employee engagement activities and weekly meetings with unit head.
▪ Arrangement of RNR activity. ▪ Issuing of warning letters and internship
completion certificate.

I got to know a wholesome knowledge about human resources and its activities.
Moreover, a more comprehensive look about what a HR generalists’ role is.
What are the skills a HR should possess and how he/he should carry
himself/herself.
 Limitations of the project
Time Constraints
Could not widen the study
The project was limited to a single store of shoppers stop.
Could not interact with more people.

 Scope of further work

Organization can take suggestions and recommendations from this
study if they wish to.
They can use this study to know where they are lacking.
