The current state of the Philippines

According to the Philippine economic update by the world bank, due to the increasing
demand of consumers, economic growth is projected to surge up to 7.2% in 2022 before
tapering to an average of 5.3 in 2023. However, as the economic growth increased, so as
the inflation because of challenges in domestic with 5.4% in the past 10 months and
becoming 7.7% just by October. Furthermore, as inflation increases, it would affect several
factors most especially the Filipinos experiencing more struggles or problems in everyday
life. Moreover, the current government is incompetent and not finding any solution at all.
High prices of products and foods happening to the whole country with the reason of not
enough supply of products. I remember I’m the one who’s always buying our groceries for
the whole week and budgeting the money seems so hard since two thousand pesos is not
enough with the current price of the food especially with the onion having 400 per kilo and
meat 360 per kilo, by these current prices we learned how to be more practical and to
manage our food more wisely. Furthermore, with these kinds of prices, below-average
people are more affected due to small income and high inflation which will affect their
physical health as well.
High transportation fees and displeasing public transportation in the country. oil prices and
gasoline prices have a high price nowadays that transportation fees also need to increase
and by that, it would cost you too much with just the transportation. As an example, here in
our province jeepneys and tricycle are the most common transportation used. However,
since we are located far from the highway, we need to ride a tricycle costing 60-100 pesos
which is high, and some people decide to walk than ride a tricycle. Whereas this happened
when oil and gasoline price hiked last year which led to people choosing public
transportation, however here in the Philippines, we have displeasing public transportation,
especially in manila. As an example, every time I have onsite classes I chose to leave the
house earlier since there is traffic everywhere and a lot of people are using public
transportation that cannot accommodate everyone.
Lastly is the slow progress of the Philippines, it’s been almost 9 months since the election
happened and yet the current state of the Philippines is still the same, nothing special
happens with the current government. Furthermore, it seems that as the government
becomes more incompetent in the upcoming years, there will be no progress at all.
Unemployed citizens continued to rise, and other people are choosing to work
internationally due to insufficient opportunities here in the country. Thus, the president
and the vice president of the country also have confidential funds that could question by
everyone about where they will use it. Based on our situation and the example presented
this shows the slow progress of the economy and the country itself.
In conclusion, with these kinds of prices, below-average people are more affected due to
high inflation and a small income. With the government not doing anything and not
presenting any solution at all, I can predict that the Philippines will be left behind by
different countries and people would choose to work abroad than stay here and watch
their family starve.
