INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDENT:
1. The length of the contents of the assignment shall be between 10 - 15pages only.

2. The assignment will be submitted in hard copy and soft copy form .The student
shall retain a copy for safekeeping. Please submit in soft cover form and just staple
only.

3. You are advised to use Times New Roman, 12pt size, alignment justify with 1.5
spacing on A4 paper. Paginate your work and add the total number of words used.

4. Provide a cover page, acknowledgement, page content, bibliography and


footnotes. In the page content kindly identify the section contributed and researched
by each member. Submit a declaration by group members to this effect.

5 .No late submissions will be allowed.

6. Objective: to assess the students’ ability to research and analyse legal principles
relevant to the question.

7. Marking scheme: all members of the group will be given the same marks subject
to the discretion of the lecturer to reduce the mark of any individual member who
has not made sufficient contribution. This assignment will carry 20% of the total
assessment weight for this paper.

8. There shall be not more than 5 members in each group.

SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST CHILDREN ACT 2017 (ACT 792)

Section 18: Evidence Of Child Witness

Notwithstanding anything contrary in any other written law, in any proceedings against
any person relating to any offence under this Act, or any offence specified in the Schedule
where the victim is a child, the court may convict such person of such offence on the basis
of the uncorroborated evidence of a child, given upon oath or otherwise.

Critically evaluate the legal impact of the above section on the Law of Evidence in
Malaysia.
