INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Paper is of 1 month. It will start from 20 th May and you can submit it on or before 6:00
pm, 22nd June,2021. It is a take home assignment.
2. Paper is of 35 marks. Question paper consists of 2 pages
3. All questions are compulsory unless an option is given in the question.
4. Marks are given next to each question and its sub parts, if any.
5. You are requested to adhere to word limit mentioned in each question, failure to which,
there shall be negative marking.
6. You are required not to use the following sources: Wikipedia, Blog.ipleader,
lawoctopus.com and legalservicesindia.com
7. No Late submissions (even by 1 minute) will be allowed. Students are advised to manage
their time accordingly.
8.  Answer script should in Microsoft word. Font type should be Times New Roman, Text
Size – 12  ,Spacing – 1.15 ,Justified and No borders on the answer scripts, Clear Name,
enrolment number and course/batch must be mentioned in the answer scripts and to be
uploaded on LMS in the tab provided for the same “FAMILY LAW-I END-TERM
EXAMS’’

Q.1. Critically analyse any 3 of the following topics in 2500 words each: - (24marks)

1. Challenges and effects of inter-country adoption


2. Iddat: A curse or a boon for married women in India
3. Redrawing the boundaries of Marriages in India
4. Welfare and maintenance rights of illegitimate children in different personal laws
in India
5. Gender Inequality in Hindu and Muslim personal laws

Q.2 Answer the following question with the help of the reading materials attached to each of
them: (Maximum Word limit: 2500, 11 marks)

A) As per the consultation paper submitted by the LC on reform of family law in 2018, what
were the major changes that were proposed? Was the commission in support of introducing a
UCC in India? Answer the questions in light of the recent petition filed by Advocate Ashwini
Kumar in the Supreme Court, urging the Government to roll out a UCC in India. Examine the
obligations under domestic and international laws to enact such a code.
