ABOUT THE 2019 PROJECT

Stars of Tomorrow Youth Development NPC was established in March of 2019 by

young professionals from Ekurhuleni with the aim of developing fellow youth in career
development, self-mastery, employability and entrepreneurship. The organisation ran a
youth competition from the 1st of August to the 30th September 2019. Our aim was to
contribute towards making young people economically active by providing them with
skills to succeed in society. We were targeting all young people (ages between 16-35
years) in Gauteng. The competition is was 3 folds; entrepreneurship, job opportunities
and access to education. The competition was about young people sending through a
60 seconds video stating what they will do to become best versions of themselves. The
top 20 finalists attended a boot camp where they were trained on life skills, HP LIFE
eLearning and business skills, afterwards the finalists then pitched in front of a panel of
judges where the top 3 winners were selected. The total prizes won amounted to an
estimated R50 000.

The top 20 finalists attended a bootcamp from the 8th to the 10th October 2019 at Petra
Lodge in Edenvale and the pitches were on the 11th. The announcement the winners
was on the very same day (11th October). As we are a Non-Profit Company we are
doing this purely for the greater good of our countries’ future. We would like this
competition to be bi-annually and nationally covering all 9 provinces. We urge
sponsorship/ donation from private and public sector in a form of resources, skills or
money to ensure that we touch as many lives as possible. We are currently funded by
Silicon Valley Community Foundation from the United States of America.

We would like to extend our appreciation for the support and assistance in advance.
This is an opportunity to empower young people and create tomorrow’s leaders.
Objectives:

TESTIMONIES
8 October 2019 was one of the best day
of my life this is the day where it all
started the beginning of the boot camp
ok I arrived at the guest house I meet
the other candidates and got to know
some of them and the facilitators, the
filming crew it was one of the best
moments when I was then asked to say
what happened in order for me to be
part of this competition #BestVersionSA ok after some 10 video recording trying to then
sell myself in 30 seconds but then it did put me in the top 20 , I got to heal an spoke a
lot about my father how I grew up and my fears my hopes and my journey in general
this opened that closet that I always kept myself inside it I got to learn how to forgive my
father I got to learn how to move on with my life and not using him as an excuse not to
achieve my goals I got to set goals and understand my internal and external strength
and weaknesses this is where I learned how to do my affirmations how to listen
motivational talks I even met Sad Guru where we then listened to him and we
understand the whole stress system how does it come about I understand the law of
attraction and I also understand that it's very important for me to look at the individuals
that I am attracting in my life if those individuals or whatever things that I'm doing they're
not building me I then need to move on and leave those things off I need to then
surround myself with individuals that will build me and bring the best out of myself I got
to learn that I need to love and appreciate others in this world without me being rude
and boasting having to be part of Top 20 best version 2019 it works really gave me an
opportunity to learn different personalities and different perspective of individuals it
gave me an opportunity to then look at life in a different way that I didn't know or notice
having to wake up next to someone that you've never seen in your life and you need to
do tasks with them and you need to then listen to them without you judging them having
to meet individuals who come from different backgrounds and they tell you their stories
you get to be motivated by their stories you get to want to do more using your own story
this is the best initiatives that I've ever seen in my life that has so much impact and I
think that it's going to contribute and lots in others as well (Phumzile Mthembu).
This is the day that the Lord has made we will rejoice
and be glad on it. A bird in the hand is worth two in the
bush, I will like to thank the opportunity that you gave
me to write about the experience I had at the camp.

The experience that I had at the camp it was the best

lessons that nobody had gave me or had adviced me.
Firstly, I will kindly like to thank you for the opportunity
to make it to the ‘’TOP 20’’ many sent the videos but
they didn’t qualify, with God’s grace I made it to the Top
20. Secondly, The Youth generation that was there at
the camp they really blessed me, they made me believe
in myself. Let I break the ice, Entering the competition I
was trying my luck, I was doing it for my little sister and
my future in the next years to come. First day at the
bootcamp, I saw new faces , New minds, New
versionery people, talented youth and etc. I was afraid
to say anything because I thought I was going to be
judged only to find out that I already counted the chickens before they laid, I was wrong.
When our facilitator Edna Guss started to make us feel the same, make us to think the
is no one who is better than any, I started to open up and felt welcomed. The
experience I had is that in life you need to make the right choices, meaning you need to
focus on the company that you keep, are they going the same path with you or they only
want to destroy you. And how to gain confidence in yourself: Gaining confidence it
means we need to start believing in ourselves that we can do this, Start telling yourself
that you are not a failure, Success it’s our league. In each and every day we need to
thank the Lord our God who makes us alive each and every day, there are people who
still wished to see the another day but unfortunately they didn’t. So thanking him first
before doing anything it’s a show of a wake up call. And the other thing is every morning
we need to say positive things, make confessions that will work for you and for the
business, or we should watch the motivational speakers to keep us positive. Again
about the steps to follow when you have a business or when you want to open your own
business: How to be a good young entrepreneur. The steps we should follow when you
decide deign your own logo or brand or the name of the company. The best I can say
experience I had is when we were pitching, it taught me that whether I’m one or we are
many I can still do this, and I should try to focus on the questions that judges asked me
in order for me to have a successful business, it even taught me that each and
everything that I think of it can be a business idea, And I can make it happen. And most
of all things is that the we need to start talking to someone you trust about what you
face, there at the camp I have noticed that we all have problems and we need to come
with the solutions to solve them.
The impact that it created in my life it is a huge effect because I now think carefully
before I decide to take a step. After the camp I sat down with my friends and I asked
them what do they want in life, only to find out that they are not good for me so I have
removed them from my list because they are not going the right path as mine, they are

only there to destroy me. I have created a new vision boards that show’s my life for next
year and the other board show’s my life after 5 years starting from today. My vision
boards and my Confessions boards they are big in size, because I need to keep on
reminding myself about what I want in future and about what my future should look like
as a young entrepreneur. With what I have I decided to start designing posters, logos,
wedding cards, websites and etc. for people, because I can never underestimate the
small business that I will run or the other people’s business. I currently helped 3 kids
who were depressed and my words helped them a lot, by just talking about my past.
Telling them that what they going through it’s not only them who are going through that
some people just took a step to go beyond that problems some decided to stay with
them, What I told them is that the is a season for everything. I have started looking
myself as one of the best Young entrepreneur with better version and goals driven.
Sesotho sere kgomo haenye boloko kaofela, Till we meet again, Thank you... I AM THE
BEST VERSION OF MYSELF (Mpho Mkwanazi).

From the day I received an sms that says I am one of the top 20
finalists, you guys made me feel like a winner, till today. Day1 in the
boot camp was like day20, everyone was very open to tell his/her
personal story without fear or shame due to the way the facilitators
teaching and skills made us felt at home. I learned a lot about myself
and entrepreneurship which makes me feel like I can conquer the
world and become the best version of myself (Simphiwe Molefe).

I wrote this letter to thank you, for the boot camp (best version of
myself) that was held at Petra Lodge on 8-11 October 2019. This
was the best thing to have happened to me in a long time. Being
on the camp has helped me tremendously because it has shaped
the cause of my destiny and it has also helped me to align myself
in terms of my views in business and how I related to myself and
other's (Xolani Saliso).
