Racial Discrimination in Malaysia

Malaysia is a multicultural country which consist of 3

main races which are the Malay, Chinese and Indian

In the past, these races were separated according to their respective races
as the British did not want them to be mixed
after achieving independence, Malaysia was united and harmonious
regardless of race, ethnicity and religion
However, there is also racist behavior going on in our country

What is the Conflict ?

all races have been discriminated against among themselves.
for example, it is said that the Malay is lazy, the Chinese is rich, the Indian is an
impurity
“Why are your hands so dirty?” referring to the natural occurrence in Indian
people where there is darker skin on the back of the hand but lighter skin on the
palm
Why are those Chinese succeeding and rich, and the Malays not?

How can it happen ?

this situation happened because they cannot accept the fact that they live
with the other races because they think one country is only for single race
other races are not the same as them in terms of customs, tradition and skin
colour
they do not pursue the same thing
they have different interests and attitudes

How to Prevent Racism ?

parents should educate their children from an early age about the races so that
they will become accustomed to it
maintaining the subject of “Sivik dan Kewarganegaraan” from primary to
secondary school level
Make friends. Get to know your friends' families and see how their customs and
traditions differ from yours.
Respecting and accepting each other's traditions, customs, and religion means one
less reason to discriminate against others and less conflicts and fights.
Understand cultural humility as an approach to diversity.
