Renewable energy is energy that is environment-friendly because it is collected

from renewable resources, which are naturally replenished. Examples of these renewable
resources include sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat (i.e. the thermal
energy generated and stored in the Earth).
There are a lot of benefits to using renewable energy. First, naturally replenished
energy resources are found over wide geographical areas, in contrast to non-renewable
resources, which exist only in a limited number of countries. In addition to that, rapid
deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency is resulting in significant energy
security, climate change mitigation, and economic benefits. The results of a recent review
of the literature concluded that as greenhouse gas emitters begin to be held liable for
damages resulting from greenhouse gas emissions resulting in climate change, a high
value for liability mitigation would provide powerful incentives for deployment of
renewable energy technologies.
There are other undeniable advantages of renewable energy. Renewable
technologies are also suited to rural and remote areas and developing countries, where
energy is often crucial in human development. Former United Nations Secretary-General
Ban Ki-moon has said that renewable energy has the ability to lift the poorest nations to
new levels of prosperity. Besides, as most renewables provide electricity, renewable
energy deployment is often applied in conjunction with further electrification, which has
several benefits; electricity can be converted to heat (where necessary generating higher
temperatures than fossil fuels), electricity can be converted into mechanical energy with
high efficiency and electricity from renewable resources is clean at the point of
consumption.
Renewable energy systems are rapidly becoming more efficient and cheaper. Their
share of total energy consumption is increasing. Growth in consumption of coal and oil
could end by 2020 due to increased uptake of renewables and natural gas.

Anorexia is an eating disorder which is characterized by unusually low body

weight, food self-deprivation, a severe fear of gaining weight, and a craving to be thin.
Even though people suffering from anorexia are underweight, they consider themselves
as obese. Anorexic people are often in self-denial concerning their low body weight.
The causes of anorexia are not clearly identified. Specialists recognize that there
are at least two types of factors that lead to this type of eating disorder, namely genetic
predisposition and cultural factors. It has been proven, for example, that identical twins
are more often affected than non-identical ones. Besides, it seems that anorexia is more
widely spread in societies that highly value thinness. Also, this eating disorder occurs
more often among those people who are involved in careers such as modeling, athletic
performance, and dancing.
The treatment of anorexia is threefold: medical, nutritional and psychological.
The primary focus is to address any serious health problem that may have emerged from
the eating disorder such as amenorrhea, malnutrition, and an unstable heartbeat.
Additionally, the treatment focuses on restoring weight to its healthy level through the
implementation and supervision of a personalized diet and education about normal eating
patterns. Patients have also to undergo a therapy that aims at recognizing the primary
issues related to the eating disorder. The therapy also involves addressing and healing
from traumatic life events. In addition to that, patients have to learn healthier strategies
and coping skills. Finally, medications may be used to help with associated anxiety or
depression.

Malignant mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that develops from the protective
lining that covers many of the body's internal organs, the mesothelium. It is usually
caused by exposure to asbestos which is a set of six naturally occurring silicate minerals
exploited commercially for their desirable physical properties.
Mesothelioma's most common site is the pleura (outer lining of the lungs and
internal chest wall), but it may also occur in the peritoneum (the lining of the abdominal
cavity), the pericardium (a sac that surrounds the heart), or the tunica vaginalis (a sac that
surrounds the testis).
Most people who develop mesothelioma have worked on jobs where they inhaled
asbestos, or they have been exposed to asbestos dust and fiber in other ways. It has also
been suggested that washing the clothes of a family member who worked with asbestos
can put a person at risk for developing mesothelioma. Unlike lung cancer, there is no
association between mesothelioma and smoking, but smoking greatly increases the risk of
other asbestos-induced cancers.
The symptoms of mesothelioma include shortness of breath due to pleural
effusion (fluid between the lung and the chest wall) or chest wall pain, and general
symptoms such as weight loss. The diagnosis may be suspected with chest X-ray and CT
(X-ray computed tomography) scan, and is confirmed with a biopsy (tissue sample) and
microscopic examination. A thoracoscopy (inserting a tube with a camera into the chest)
can be used to take biopsies. It allows the introduction of substances such as talc to
obliterate the pleural space (called pleurodesis), which prevents more fluid from
accumulating and pressing on the lung. Despite treatment with chemotherapy, radiation
therapy or sometimes surgery, the disease carries a poor prognosis. Research about
screening tests for the early detection of mesothelioma is ongoing.

Women won their present status through struggle and sacrifices rather than
through men's kindness. Women and their supporters have fought and in some places
continue to fight for the same rights as men. Laws were made to replace local customs
which denigrated and suppressed women's rights. Women have gained higher positions in
the world at all levels: political, economic and social.
Historically, whether in Hindu, Greek or Roman civilizations women were always
minors and subject to men. It was only during the Islamic civilization, between 610 and
661, that the early reforms were undertaken. The reforms gave women greater rights than
Muslim women in pre-Islamic Arabia and medieval Europe. These reforms included
greater rights in marriage, divorce and inheritance. Women were not accorded with such
legal status in other cultures until centuries later.
During the middle ages women were enslaved and were denied all rights in
Europe. In the late 18th century, however, women's status became a subject of political
debate. In the 19th century women started their fight for equal rights. In the late 19th
century they won the right to vote in various countries in the world. More gigantic steps
were taken during the following years. Women gained more economic, social and
political status in various degrees and in different countries.
