Portions given sidelines or dotted underlines are the matters not stated in the original International Standard. A list of modifications with the explanations is given in annex 2 (informative). 1 Scope This Standard specifies the characteristics of hexagon nuts with flange. If, in special cases, specifications other than those listed in this Standard are re- quired, they should be selected from existing standards, for example JIS B 0205-2, JIS B 0209-2, JIS B 1052 and JIS B 1054-2. NOTES 1 Hexagon nuts with flange not covered in ISO 4161 and ISO 10663 are specified in annex 1. 2 The International Standards corresponding to this Standard are as follows. In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISOMEC Guide 21. 180 4161: 1999 Hexagon nuts with flange—Coarse thread (MOD) ISO 10663: 1999 Hexagon nuts with flange—Fine pitch thread (MOD) 2 Normative references ‘The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this Standard, constitute provisions of this Standard. PROTECTED BY COPYRIGHT 10 B 1190: 2005 Annex A (normative) Gauging of hexagon flange nuts A.l Recommended method for gauging of hexagon (see annex A figure 1 and annex A table 1) The nut shall be gauged using two plain ring gauges, A and B, to demonstrate the coincidental acceptability of hexagon height, corner fill and width across corners. Gauge A shall be placed over the nut and shall be seated on the flange. Gauge B shall be placed on the top of the nut normal to the nut axis, The two gauges shall not be in contact A2 Recommended method for gauging of flange thickness (see annex A fig- ure 1 and annex A table 1) Gauge C is a flat feeler or ring gauge. It is used to prove that the flange thickness at the junction of the gauge A with the hexagon por- tion is equal to or greater than specified values. The acceptance criterion is that gauge C will fit under gauge A without contact when the nut is seated on a flat plate. fs : a ; tI | I SY i ee y 2: Gauge B 3 3: Gauge C an NOTE: Wa.aia = Ciena Wore * Onin ~ 0.01 mm Tyne = Me, Annex A Figure 1 Annex A Table 1 Unit: mm Thread Gauges Gouge Gauge %, i » Tate on Cone Fine pic | max | min] max | min, max. min | min | in| mn | an Ms = 9.28] 924] 2.50] 249] 878] 877] 3 fia | 1.08] 1.07 Ms - 116/115] 3.10] 3.05] 1.08]11.03] 4 fis | tag] 1s! 3 4 Ms Ma 1502]1501] 460] 49]1437[1436|_¢ [20 | 131] 130] wo | mioxi.2s, maoxt |1733)17.32| 5.60( $.59]1663]16.62| 5 [24 | 1.81] 1.20] 5 6 5 5 iz | mi2x12s,M12x1.5]|2079]2078] 6.80) 6.79}2002]2001] 5 |29 | 2.20] 2.19] Mia misxis _ [2426]2428) 7.70] 769|23.35]2334| 6 [325 | 255] 254 M6) isxi.s 277a}anai) a90| #a9|2624]26.73| 6 [37 | 296] 205 M20 mzox1s _[34:65]3464] 10.70 |10.69]3294]3293| 6 |4s_| 3.70] 3.69 PROTECTED BY COPYRIGHT 11 B 1190 : 2005 Annex 1 (normative) Hexagon nuts with flange not covered in ISO 4161 and ISO 10663 1 Scope This annex specifies steel hexagon nuts with flange (hereafter referred to as “nuts”) not covered in ISO 4161 : 1999 and ISO 10663 ; 1999, NOTES 1 The requirements in this annex should be specified as the provision of product of the text of standard since this annex will be withdrawn in the future. 2 This annex is to be reviewed when the text of this Standard is revised, 2 Definitions For the purpose of this annex, the definitions of main terms used shall conform to JIS B 0101 3 Classification The classification of nuts specified in this Standard shalll be as given in annex 1 table 1 Annex 1 Table 1 Classification Classification Range of nominal diameter | Property class of serew thread ‘Nut Pitch of serew thread Nuts with flange | Coarse thread | 4 mm to 16 mm ef, 81, 107 Fine piteh thread | 8 mm to 16 mm 4 Mechanical properties 4.1 Expression of property class The property class of nuts shalll be expressed by attaching the alphabet of T to the figure of 6, 8 and 10. In addition, the figure in the symbol which expresses the property class indicates 1/100 of the nominal proof load stress in the unit of N/mm? (see annex 1 table 2) and the alphabet of T is for distinguishing from the property class used in the text of this Standard, and it means that the proof load stress of nuts nearly corresponds to the tensile strength of nuts which is on the same level with it. 4.2 Mechanical properties with respect to property class The mechanical properties with respect to the property class, when the test is performed with the method in 10.1.1 and 10.1.2 of annex 1, shall comply with the requirement in an- nex I table 2.
