colored objects affect the ability to absorb heat.
Performance Standards The learners should be able to perform the activities sensibly.
Learner’s Competencies/ 1. Relating the ability of the materials to block, absorb or
Code transmit light to its use.
2. Categorize which materials block, absorb, or transmit light;
and
3. Appreciate the importance of materials that block, absorb, or
transmit light.

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous Have a review on conductors and insulators.
lesson or presenting the new Let the pupils define conductors and insulators.
lesson Let them give examples of conductors and insulators
Conductors are materials that transmit heat and electricity
Ex. Metal, iron, copper, gold and silver
Insulators are materials that do not transmit heat and
electricity.
Ex. Paper, rubber, wood
B. Establishing a purpose The teacher will show some pictures as the pupils will learn
for the lesson new words-based form the lesson.
The pupils will play a game called 4 PICS ONE WORD.
The pupils will study the 4 pictures and let them identify the
common characteristics of the 4 pictures so that they can
complete the word given.
Let the pupils read the meaning of the word based from the
pictures.
(Use a ball in this game, the lucky pupil who will catch the ball
will be the one to answer.

instances of the new lesson gives the meaning of the word as so that the pupils will be
familiarize with the meaning of each word.
D. Discussing new concepts Show 3 type of glass to the pupils and let them guess what is
and practicing new skills #1 inside the glass.
Ask pupils which type of glass make them easy to know what is
inside the glass.

and practicing new skills #2 encounter the word transparent, translucent and opaque.
The teacher will discuss how light pass through each object.
F. Developing Mastery The pupils will perform an experiment how light pass through
in an illustration board, pitcher and tray and which of them
absorb, transmit and block light.
Then let pupils give example of things that block, absorb and
transmit light by looking the things around them and by
categorizing the pictures to be given by the teacher whether it
block, absorb or transmit light.

G. Finding Practical Ask pupils why we should plant trees?

application of concepts and What is the importance of trees in our environment?
skills in daily living Test the skill of pupils by identifying which object block,
absorb and transmit light.

H. Making generalization The teacher will ask: What happens to light depends upon the
and abstraction about the material where it strikes.
lesson Then the pupils will answer: It can be transmitted, absorbed or
blocked.
