RISING DEMAND OF LEGAL TECH START-UPS IN INDIA

Introduction

Technology has evolved long enough and has ruled the planet. All sectors of society have
become passionate about technology, and the legal field is no exception. Legal technology or
commonly referred to as legal technology refers to the use of technology and software to
provide legal services, support lawyers by making their work less tiring, help them deliver legal
services much more quickly and efficiently, and make legal content more accessible to the
general public.

Technology in the legal field has given rise to Legal Tech Start-ups and these Start-ups are the
companies that use technology and software as a method of delivering all legal business
through their online platform. Legal technology is rapidly moving from a standard sector to
becoming a major sector within the traditional legal industry. The evolution of technology is
the major reason for the formation of forensic technology start-ups in India. The motive of
these legal tech start-ups is to change the normal procedural ways of working followed by
lawyers and other legal professionals, with nascent things being driven by technology. Today's
modern technological system has enabled lawyers to try to do their job more accurately and
efficiently and has thus benefited the general public.

Covid-19 and Legal Tech

The unprecedented coronavirus outbreak has affected the global economy. With social
distancing being the only reason to curb the spread of the disease within society, the work
culture around the world has gone into network mode. The pandemic has spared no sector of
society, including the judiciary. Covid19 has caused disruption within the system, the outdated
version of dispensing justice and providing legal services. Traditionally, the quality process
had to physically appear in court to hear your question. However, the pandemic has forced the
profession to rely on technology, for example by holding virtual hearings or video conferences
where lawyers and lawyers can appear online for their case while seated in their comfortable
spaces. Lawyers also have the advantage of holding meetings with their clients and providing
solutions to their clients online. The pandemic has transformed the way legal professionals and

lawyers work. offered better opportunities to digitally transform legal businesses. Law schools
have also gone digital and moved to online teaching and students have adapted to online
learning. Technology has not only stayed with top legal organizations, but also smaller law
firms and legal tech start-ups have invested alike. The pandemic has played a significant role
and provided a serious opportunity for legal technology start-ups to provide legal assistance in
all possible aspects. The pandemic has forced the legal sector to promote and move towards
digital transformation and as a result, the sector has streamlined for the better.

Legal Tech

Legal technology has increased in recent years and has facilitated the addition of the regular
legal sector. Whether it's virtual hearings, online courts, or computer-based (AI) legal research,
technology has certainly transformed every aspect of standard law. Legal technology with the
help of contemporary software brings speed, accessibility, transparency, efficiency, flexibility
and convenience in the work of legal professionals and therefore the public. Some legal tech

judicial system.

Legal Tech and Indian Judiciary

India's judiciary was slowly moving towards digitalization and implementation of technology
in the system when the Supreme Court allowed live streaming of swearing-in ceremonies and
farewell speeches of judges. Judge AM Khanwilkar and Judge Dr.D.Y.Chandrachud
authorized the live broadcast of cases deemed to be of national and constitutional importance.
Due to the pandemic, the judiciary has taken the virtual route to review issues and dispense
justice. As the technology creates a paperless environment, therefore, it provides judges with
the opportunity to hear and determine the facts of the case with all precedents and judgments
online in a fair, reasonable, efficient and timely manner, thus improving the administration of
the judicial system. The Supreme Court is currently using the "Vidyo" platform to conduct
virtual hearings. In July 2021, Justice Chandrachud declared that all Supreme Court justices
would be equipped with 1000 Mbps internet connection speed to avoid the disruptions they
would normally face. Even during a pandemic crisis, technology has ensured that justice is not
hindered and with the help of technology, India's legal system is bound to thrive.

Conclusion

From conducting legal proceedings online to providing legal services and advice online,
technology has played a significant role in the legal profession and is both inevitable and
undeniable. With the rise of legal technology start-ups in India, technology has dynamically

transformed the working model of legal professions. As legal tech start-ups offer affordable
and easy-to-use solutions within a reasonable timeframe, a man is likely a common approach
from these legal tech start-ups. It also reduces the burden and workload that legal professionals
face on a daily basis. Legal technology start-ups have and promise to bring greater efficiency,
effectiveness and productivity to the industry as it has great potential. The legal fraternity is
progressing and developing towards adapting technology to make the legal field more
accessible and accessible to the public. Digitization has just started to evolve in the legal
industry due to the pandemic and is here to stay. Legal technology has proven to be reliable
and more efficient and, when properly implemented, provides an easily accessible platform
with greater security.
