1. What is the difference between PA, Exercise, and Physical Fitness? Give examples
Physical Activity is any movement from skeletal muscle contraction which
increases caloric requirements while exercise is structured repetitive movements performed
to improve or maintain components of physical fitness. Physical fitness is a culmination of
attributes people have that translate into physical activity efficiency.
2. What are the five health-related physical fitness components?
Cardiorespiratory endurance, Body Composition, Muscular Strength, Muscular
Endurance, Flexibility.
3. What are the skill-related physical fitness components?
Agility, Coordination, Balance, Power, Reaction Time, Speed.
4. What is the recommended frequency of aerobic exercise for most adults according to
the guidelines?
Moderate intensity aerobic PA:30 minutes/5days/week or Vigorous intensity PA:
20 minutes/3days/week.
5. List 5 benefits of regular physical activity and/or exercise.

Reduced resting systolic/diastolic pressure


Increased capillary density in skeletal muscle
Reduced total body fat and intraabdominal fat
Decreased anxiety and depression
Improved cognitive function
