(i) Lami’s theorem is applicable for
a) three collinear forces b) three coplanar and concurrent forces
c) three parallel forces d) all of these.
(ii) The forces which meet at one point at their lines of action also lie on the same plane are known as
(a) coplaner non-concurrent (b) non coplaner concurrent
(c) coplaner concurrent (d) none of the above
(iii) If the resultant of two equal forces has the same magnitude as either of the forces, then the angle
between the two forces is
(a) 30° (b) 60° (c) 90° (d) 120°
(iv) The angle between two forces when the resultant is maximum and minimum respectively are
(a) 0° and 180° (b) 180° and 0° (c) 90° and 180° (d) 90° and 0°

(b) State and prove Lami’s Theorem. 3 marks
(c ) The magnitude of the resultant of two concurrent forces including an angle of 90 degree between
them is √13 kN. When this included angle is changed to 60 degree, the magnitude of the resultant
becomes √19 kN. Find the magnitude of the two forces. 3 marks

1. Two smooth spheres of weight W and radius r each are

in equilibrium in a horizontal
channel of A and B vertical sides as shown in Fig.
Find the force exerted by each sphere on the other. Calculate
these values, if r = 250 mm,
b = 900 mm and W = 100 N.

2. A circular roller of weight 100 N and radius 10 cm hangs
by a ties rod AB = 20 cm and rests against a smooth
vertical wall at C as shown in the Figure. Determine the
force F in the rod and normal reaction at C.

by an inclined plane and a vertical wall as shown in the
Figure. Assuming smooth surfaces find the reactions
